For me it's still "Angels In The Snow"

Impossibly cringey ,sad and feelgood but with a twist at the end

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2021 16:22

We're on the way back from Liverpool having bought a ridiculous amount of tree decorations, as well as refilling our QS tin at a stupid price!

We have Papa John's for dinner, which will please the children! Oh, and we found an amazing pub in Liverpool as well! 😁

DD has asked if she can borrow some tinsel Xmas Grin I'm not sure she's actually my daughter as she doesn't sniff it! I love the smell of tinsel, DH rolls his eyes at me when I bury my head in it and have a good sniff.

I watched a great CCF in the week - Last Christmas. I mean, Wham, Covent Garden and Christmas what's not to like?

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 06/11/2021 18:05

Hayup borrow tinsel? 🤔
Sniffing tinsel would make me sneeze more than Mr Sneezy. 🤧🤧🤧

HeyupitsChristmas · 06/11/2021 18:12

Twirls
Do you like my Christmassy name 🎄

Puss She wants to decorate her bedroom, and have a tree in her bedroom (not happening, I'm not daft!)

She's said I can have it back Xmas Grin

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 06/11/2021 18:17

Naice. Ver festive Xmas Grin
I'd get her a little fake tree and put some led lights on it...and some of your spare tinsel, if there is such a thing?😉😂

WreckTangled · 06/11/2021 18:20

We were meant to go to fireworks tonight but dd has a sore throat and fever. We can't catch a break. Dh has taken ds, much to dh's annoyance. He's being a knob again.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2021 18:37

@HeyupitsChristmas, I think we have a 2-3ft LED tree, potentially. Shall I bring it to Booths?! If it's still here, you're more than welcome to it!

What pub in Liverpool fluffy? We always go to the same ones but they're from when Dh was a student. I'm far too old for them now.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2021 20:41

It's the Monro, Neros. We found it while walking from Brewdog to John Lewis, and accidentally stayed for 2 pints. 🤣🤣

DD and I went to Lakeside , just because .
Haven't been out to proper shops for ages .
M25 was busy towards the Dartford Crossing ( either people going to Bluewater or those bloody Insulate Britain folk again Hmm ) most likely an accident on the bridge .

It was busy , we had a wander about but really CBA queing and there was nothing we needed to queue for now
I bought socks . And pants for DS .
Rock'n'Roll .

No decorations (though we did go into The Christmas Shop)

HeyupitsChristmas · 06/11/2021 21:18

Oh Wreck Sending hugs, you're having a bloody awful time at the moment. Hope everything picks up soon for you.

Fluffy That would be amazing 👏 If you still have it, and it's no trouble M would love it.

My parents are coming for Christmas. I'm going to need a considerably bigger turkey, and I know I am super late but I've got the fruit for my cake soaking in the best part of a bottle of rum.

So guess what the Heyup House are doing tomorrow...Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 06/11/2021 21:23

I think we're going to try and get some beef this year for Christmas.

Dd went to bed at 6:30 and I haven't heard a peep since. I might take her temperature in a minute. We're meant to be going to chessington tomorrow too Sad I can't swap tickets or get a refund either.

70 I've found recently that I can't find anything I like in shops, I wander around aimlessly for a bit before leaving. I'm not sure why, less stock maybe?

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2021 21:47

HayUp love the new name!

Sad to say tinsel was banned by my mum and now DH hates it so we don't have it.
My nan had some that she kept for years and years and hers always smelled of her house (she had all the things my mum considered 'tacky' - coloured lights, a real tree, satin baubles, awful fairy wearing blue eyeshadow, tinsel on the tree, around windows and picture frames etc). I bloody loved going down there when the decs were up. She had a record player and would play Christmas songs of never heard of on it.

Also, I loved Last Christmas. My and a friend went to an old fashioned cinema to watch it last year - the ticket came with a candy cane Xmas Grin

Wreck would you like an alibi for Christmas? Why is he annoyed about taking ds?

I did some shopping today. Managed to find a few presents which is better than expected. Best Buy was a lockable notebook that was a direct request from my niece that didn't cost a fortune (thanks wilko).

Did have a little Christmas spirit moment which made me laugh - im assuming someone somewhere flipped a switch they weren't supposed to or something as all the Christmas lights in town randomly came on for a minute. Everyone cheered Xmas Grin then a voice came over the tannoy thing and apologised for the confusion and gave the date of the official switch on Xmas Grin

I've been stuck in the living room with a terrified dog tonight as the fireworks have been mad here. Have done a present audit to stay productive.

WreckTangled · 06/11/2021 22:01

I hate tinsel too, sorry!

He was annoyed because he assumed we weren't going as dd isn't well. In fairness to him he didn't get in from work until gone 5:30 but in my defence I didn't say that we were
staying home, he just assumed it, and ds still wanted to go. So I volunteered dh to take him Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2021 22:05

I don't mind tinsel...on the kids' tree only!

It's very bang-y here too, Crazy. I imagine local pets are going bonkers here as well. 😥

JL was heaving today...it was lovely to see it look like a normal Christmas again, after last year. We had a nice chat with the woman serving us about it (hi, Helen, if you're reading this! Xmas Grin ).

Not a tinsel fan either but there were loads of threads about sniffing it Xmas Blush so I tried ...........and it smells of nothing .

Our little male cat was in the kitchen staring out of the window , crunched up in a little ball on the floor (weird animal ) . He is now on the cat tower .
Female cat is "What ev-ah " Xmas Grin
We used to bring our guinea pigs inside for the firework season at night time . They went back to their shed by day .
For non-nocturnals they were bloody loud at 3am.
When we had GP1 and GP2 , DD was delighted to have the boys in her room. Till they woke her up whingeing for food !

All quiet now on the firework front . All I can hear is my DS coughing .
(Not Covid) , probably too much revelling

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2021 23:12

Ah, classic crossed wires then Wreck

Fluffy even on the tree me and my sister had in the kitchen, tinsel was banned (but my Nan donated us some decorations for it, partly because I loved them and partly to annoy dm Xmas Grin )

DDog is usually a bit uneasy but not overly bothered about fireworks but I think as he's getting older and can't rely on his sight so much he's struggling and tonight while he was out for a wee some dickhead in the garden behind us let 2 huge ones off randomly (and not properly - they didn't go very high and seemed to be aimed diagonally towards the top of a tree which is directly behind our shed) and frightened him badly - he ran inside and I found him cowering under my desk upstairs. He's been unsettled and jumpy all night since.
I hadn't met the neighbours properly before but they know me now - I was not impressed Blush

Morning!

We're all still in bed...I thankfully got back to sleep after initially waking at 5-something!

It's very windy here, but I really do need to go and dig, as I need to clear the plot by the end of the month and I didn't go last week because it was wet and windy. At least it's dry today!

Morning all! Loving the festive name changes.
Slowly but surely powering on with the presents. Forgot about 1 secret santa I'm in so will find that present today before I forget again. Finished DPs stocking yesterday though. Will also buy the advent calendars after getting a half price one in Tesco yesterday.
We had lots of tinsel growing up and DP loves it so sometimes we have it, sometimes we don't. I'm more fussed by other decorations.
What an idiot Crazy I dont like the silly people who set off fireworks for the sake of it, I think organised displays are better of you don't know what you're doing.
Hope DD is feeling batter today and you get to enjoy Chessington Wreck

ConstantlyCooking · 07/11/2021 09:01

Morning all! The time is moving quickly now. I am back to work tomorrow and have made progress with my lists but not as much as I had hoped. I need to make another Christmas cake today and infuse the vodka. I think I will have missed the moment for making chutney- but will make some chilli jam and mint/crab apple jelly closer to the day.

FireflyGirl · 07/11/2021 09:03

How's DD this morning Wreck? I'm assuming it's the same bug DS had?

Crazy you made me smile about the Christmas lights - I love that we're so conditioned that even an unannounced switch on on a Saturday afternoon warrants a cheer!

I don't use tinsel, but it definitely smells of Christmas! So does my (fake) tree - but I buy the scentcicles for that! Grin

WreckTangled · 07/11/2021 09:25

Dd is staying home with dh Sad dd was adamant she was feeling better and could manage but she's really unwell.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2021 13:13

I'm so tired...I've cleared the last 3-4m of the left side of my plot this morning. Next week I start the other side. As long as it stays dry, I should meet my end of November clearance target!
