At least your DS is improving, Wreck.

Our washing dried yesterday, so that's a positive! 🤣

Morning.

It's so chilly here. I've had to convince threaten DD to wear her joggers for school today..."but mummy it's a sunny day!!"

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/11/2021 08:36

Rain. Grey. Miserable.
DH muttered something about washing the windows, so it will be set in for the day.🤦‍♀️

ConstantlyCooking · 05/11/2021 08:47

Yes- crazy - we wake up with insect bites from the evil ladybirds. It is a shame as I used to like them.
I am getting through my list this week 70 and today I will be making Christmas cakes and tidying the spare room so I can keep all presents in one place and not lose any! Plus I need to hide Christmas food there so it doesn't get eaten early. My Christmas crockery is in the wardrobe so it is easy to find on December 1st (when I swap all the mugs for Christmas ones).

CrazyBaubles · 05/11/2021 11:17

Constantly I looked online and apparently citrus scents can repel ladybirds - maybe adding some citrus oil to a cleaner and wiping your windows with it could help?
I'm scared of them - I've tried to get better this summer as we saw quite a few of them while out and about but I absolutely can't relax if they're in the house.

I've seen the M&S ad. I'm also hoping it's an introduction / trailer ad and the proper one is on its way.
A few years ago they did one I liked, about Mrs Claus delivering a missed present. I think that's the only M&S one I remember.

Work is insane today, I feel like a headless chicken rushing from one meeting to another, all about different things, and trying to cram a bit of much needed work in the gaps 🤯

ConstantlyCooking · 05/11/2021 12:49

Thank you for the tip crazy- I will order an citrus oil. The other day it looked like there was a rug of them on the outside of the house. Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 05/11/2021 14:47

Happy birthday to me! We're in the pub that's close to school! 🤣🤣

I have my favourite fizz in the fridge, now Sainsbury's is doing it again, and DH has made me a cake. All is well with the world. 🎂🍻

Happy birthday fluffy!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/11/2021 14:58

fluffy Happy Birthday. Enjoy the beer. 🍻
You're so lucky your DH can bake. Mine doesn't know how to turn the oven on. He'd die of starvation in his own kitchen.🤦‍♀️😂

MissingMo · 05/11/2021 16:05

Happy Birthday Fluffy! Hope its everything you dream of!

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/11/2021 16:26

Happy birthday Fluffy. I'll have a 🍷 or two this evening in solidarity I don't need an excuse

CrazyBaubles · 05/11/2021 17:06

Constantly I have no idea if it works but I used citrus oil in a cleaner for the last 2 summers when we've been on holiday in a camper van and we managed to avoid too many bugs so 🤞🏼
Report back - if it works I'll do it here from the spring to ward the buggers off!

Happy Birthday Fluffy 🥳
I'm impressed with DH making you a cake - Mine wouldn't ever think of doing that. Although I'm not sure he can bake a cake. He can make lovely bread, shortbread and brownies though, he just doesnt

I'm not long back from walking the dog and I'm glad I've started taking him early. We left at 4 and it's now too dark to take him (with his awful 25% sight in one eye he can just about see shadows and things in daylight).

I've signed up for a 7 day trial of the Hallmark channel on Prime today. It's £4 ish for a month after that so I'm thinking I could have 2 months worth of CCFs for less than a tenner Xmas Grin
Kicked off my membership by watching A Gingerbread Romance while writing a report before logging off. Perfect nonsense for a freezing cold day!

WreckTangled · 05/11/2021 18:22

Happy birthday fluffy! I went into Dunelm, M&S food, home sense and John Lewis earlier. There wasn't much in any of them really.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/11/2021 18:57

I was disappointed by Dunelm this morning Wreck. Tiny display of Christmas decorations and no wrapping paper (not that I needed any). They seemed to be concentrating on Christmas homewares and fragrance.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/11/2021 19:09

Woolly Sainsbury have that much wrapping paper, DH thought he'd been teleported to B&Q Xmas Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/11/2021 23:02

Happy Birthday Fluffy Xmas Grin

I got a new washing machine so trying to fathom out the cycles ( and yes I did read the manual a bit )

I thought "Oh , mixed fabrics , extra silent , give that a punt "

Six bloody hours it takes . Good job I wasn't in a hurry !
I'll save that cycle for if I want to put a oad on overnight without irritating the neighbours . I know I;ll mainly use cotton/synthetics/delicates .
No point in too many choices really .

I might drag myself out tomorrow to have a snoop at the shops . I picked up an M&S order today , it was heaving ! People were complaing about the crowds ( well if it wasn't so busy , I;m sure more people would go there )

Morning.
Decided on a slightly more appropriate name Xmas Grin
70 happy new washer 🎉 6 hours seems a bit excessive! Is that the "eco" cycle that nobody uses ? I tend to use the 60 and 40 cotton cycles with 1600 spin, they take about 1h38 to 2hr01, although if you check it with the kitchen clock, the timer is normally way out...the last 2 mins take at least 5 especially while you're pacing up and down waiting for it to stop pumping out

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 06/11/2021 07:54

it's still me btw,
I just thought it was a bit chilly for a lollyice. 😹

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2021 07:56

Yes, our washer has long cycles...not sure I've found the 6 hour one yet, thankfully.

Our 60° is over 3 hours, but we hit the shorten cycle button on that which brings it down to just over 2 hours. The 40° is just under 2 hours.

And yes, Puss...it's never accurate with the final countdown. Longest minute in the world! 🙄

Happy birthday for yesterday Fluffy. Sorry I didn't get chance to post.

DFriend's DDad was given a terminal cancer diagnosis a couple of weeks ago, was supposed to be moving to a home out of hospital yesterday, but the hospital ballsed up, so was supporting her, and then he passed last night Sad

Happy New Washing Machine, 70. We don't use the eco setting on the washing machine because we tend to do all our laundry in one day at the weekend so need to get it through asap, but we use it on the dishwasher.

Love the name change Puss. I keep thinking about changing mine to be more festive, then never get round to it Grin

Can you get Hallmark through Prime, Crazy? I usually ignore anything you have to pay for on there, but might have to make an exception for CCFs. Speaking of, there's a new one coming to Netflix at the end of the month which has the usual ticklist, called the Christmas Castle, or similar!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/11/2021 08:48

Love the new name Puss Xmas Grin

Yes , I think the 6 hour ctcle has some tiny gremlin sitting in the drum handwashing everything !
It is one for an overnight wash only.
I've got a cotton wash on at the moment , which seems quite quick. It "senses" how dirty the clothes are ( don't ask how . Sniffs them maybe ?)
But .......huge 10kg drum , so I;ll overlook its little foibles .

DD has been putting in the hours at University , I pick her up from the Station on a Friday , she fell asleep in the car . I did warn her "Don't fall asleep on the train, you might wake up in Southnd ! "

FireflyGirl · 06/11/2021 08:48

I lie - it's A Castle for Christmas.

They're bringing quite a few out this month, by the looks of this list www.mentalfloss.com/article/651930/netflix-christmas-movies-november-2021here.

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2021 09:27

Love the new name puss. I also think I should maybe do a name change but mine is already Christmas themed and I can't be arsed

Happy new washing machine 70
We use the eco button on most cycles on ours - I think it adjusts the amount of water used based on how much washing you put in and the cycle shortens a bit too.
Longest cycle I've found is the 90° one that I use for cleaning cloths (and the machine) - 3 hours.

Firefly you can subscribe to the hallmark channel through Amazon prime, but I think you need to have it on a tv or a computer / desktop site because I couldn't find a way to do it on the app Xmas Grin
I haven't told DH yet (it's his prime account). He won't care, he'll just think I'm a bit of a sap 😂

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/11/2021 11:28

I'm holding out for Holiday in Handcuffs with Melissa Joan Hart. I watched it once about 20 years ago and it was the ultimate cheesy Christmas film.

Nice name change Puss. I'm not sure I've got a festive version of this name. TheWoollybacksWiseMan? 🤔
