Oh DD's school are back in masks all day from today. It was just in corridors but in class now too 😷

Morning all. Much warmer this morning. DS up at 5.30 so been doing things about the house. Will try and sort out my present box after the school run and work out what is left to buy.
Glad he is feeling a little better Wreck. Definitely let DH make up some more, he was out of order just leaving like that yesterday.

I put the heating on when I got up at half 5.

DH shocked me yesterday...convo goes like this:
Him "When are we putting the tree up?"
Me "Eh?"
Him "The Christmas tree...are we doing it at the weekend?"
Me "Erm..."
Him "You always put it up in November"
Me "Yes, well, after the 11th..."
Him "Oh, OK, next weekend then"
Me 🤯

I need to deep clean the front room and dining room before ours can go up (last weekend of the month!). 🎄🎄🎄🎄

I want to decorate the front room too. So it'll be fun trying to fit that in!

The JL Christmas ad is out today. I've watched it and am not impressed. Sigh. I want happy Christmas adverts!

I cried at the JL ad. Must be hormonal. I do detest the whimsical-ing of songs though. Every sodding year!

I haven't watched the M&S one yet but I'll find it later.
I don't even mind if the ads make me a little teary but I do want them to be happy. I still have a soft spot for the Sainsbury's children's play ad a few years ago - the little boy dressed as a plug and the Turkey drummer make me chuckle no matter how many times I see it.

Fluffy I hate the trend for choosing a really good song and covering it by slowing it down and using a whispery annoying voice 😡

puss he is the chef. I was talking to him about a recipe I'd seen on the poncetastic thread for carrots caramelised in orange and thyme and while he's happy to try it, he doesn't want to think about Christmas yet.

I'm still in the process of turning him away from being a grinch. Every year he gets cheery a little bit earlier and every year he complains about the hype but at the same time makes suggestions about decorations etc.
I find him funny now - he doesn't get why I enjoy it so much, but he wants to see me enjoy it so he joins in 😂 I don't think even he understands his attitude to Christmas!

The Sainsbury's plug one was utter genius!

Crazy - we have harlequin ladybirds which are bigger than normal ones and seem to gather in large numbers around window frames.
Wreck - I am pleased your DS is beginning to improve. It is annoying how childcare defaults to women. I would get angry messages from DD's school because she was sick and needed to be collected. They couldn't understand why I hadn't checked my phone all afternoon. It wouldn't have been so bad BUT DH was down as the first contact and they hadn't tried him and the reason I didn't check my phone was because I AM A TEACHER and was in class. Something I would expect a school to understand!
I went into London yesterday and had a leisurely stroll round JL and M&S and then walked to Fortnums. I also went to Matalan but found their Christmas stuff disappointing- I usually like it. However, I managed to get a Christmas diffuser to finish off DD's advent calendar. Their evergreen Christmas spice is lovely- I thought it might smell like pine disinfectant but actually it's more like spiced apples!
Off to Costco today must not buy huge tin of Quality Street.

I'd love to find something that repels them - my understanding is that they're looking for somewhere to hibernate now and I can't cope with that so I kill them

It appears Christmas has officially started today - the JL ad is out, the work whatsapp chat started with someone announcing Starbucks have their Christmas cups in and I've just switched on the classic fm app to find they've added an assortment of Christmas playlists

M&S one is Percy Pig and a Dawn French Fairy , I'm hoping that's just the food advert , not the Advert Proper .

Went off down a YouTube RabbitHole and saw a short film called A Christmas Spirit or something , bit of a twist at the end and a lump in the throat .

I need to get a wriggle on with my buying . I'm making lists and gradually working through but resisting The Twitch .

Yes the wind was so cold yesterday! We've got a slight frost today. Ds still coughing temp 37.8 so not too bad. Planned for him to have today off anyway. I've got work then food shopping.
