The JL Christmas range is a mixture of absolutely beautiful and bonkers crazy. The Angel tree toppers were lovely as was a beautiful gold and white bird (possibly a peacock?)

Wreck I bought an oximeter from Amazon for about £9 a couple of months ago.

FireflyGirl · 01/11/2021 21:18

Wreck like Woolly, we bought our oximeter on Amazon for around a tenner. They're a pretty good investment at the moment.

Glad your DH has made it through mostly unscathed, Crazy. It's the unpredictability of Covid that makes it so scary! I'm sure it's a case of when, not if, but I hope we are in the group that barely notices it!

I've emailed the accounts manager at work today. My maternity finished on 22nd October, and I was supposed to be using my holidays after that, but I didn't get paid for them last month. I was relying on that money coming in to start doing some much needed DIY!

Hayup · 02/11/2021 07:06

Xmas Grin 52 Xmas Grin

DH came back from work last night and told me that two houses on the estate have Christmas Lights up. He said "don't be getting ideas, it's too early"

AIBU to LTB? Xmas Hmm

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 07:10

Hayup Nope. Buy an inflatable grinch and stick a photo of his face on it. Xmas GrinXmas Grin

WreckTangled · 02/11/2021 07:13

Definitely LTB.

Ds is still conked out his temp is 38.5 so I'll get a call from the doctor as I think that's a high one to wake up with a day four now.

I will buy an oximeter I think. It's one of those things I only think about when I need it and then it's too late Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2021 07:48

Morning!

Hurrah, the wind has dropped and the rain has stopped. That was a wild 48 hours or so!

I'm on Team LTB, Hayup. Xmas Grin (Puss, could always paint him green and dress him as the Grinch if a blow up one is hard to come by.)

Firefly, that's really frustrating re your pay. However, they'll have to pay you an approximation as they missed it and then reconcile it next pay run, since you're legally owed it. It's going to be hard going back after almost 2 years away, isn't it?

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/11/2021 08:30

Hayup I spotted lights on one of the houses on the main road last night. It will be December before ours are up though. They are a pita to arrange properly so I put it off as long as possible.

MissingMo · 02/11/2021 09:57

Morning all, its been a long half term so I'm only just jumping back in. Been to Sainsburys and B&M and treated myself to new slippers and a Malteaser reindeer. They were playing Christmas music in B&M and I am determined to finish my shopping this month whilst I have the holiday. Hair appointment today then sorting the house out.

MissingMo · 02/11/2021 10:00

Pressed post accidently!
Hope they sort out your pay Firefly nothing worse than expecting money in that doesn't arrive.
Wreck hope DS feels better soon and his temperature breaks.
I definitely don't think November is too early Hey but DP is the same so I do keep it low key and behind the scenes for now

Hayup · 02/11/2021 14:59

I'm very tempted to put some lights around the fireplace just to wind him up....

CrazyBaubles · 02/11/2021 14:59

HayUp me and DH have already started our annual bicker about when the decs go up. I want them up the first weekend of December but failing that, I have the 7th off work so I'll do them then.
I'm also ordering some lights for the windows (if I can ever find some I like for a price that doesn't make me want to cry) and they're going to be stored in the spare room so I can put them out whenever I fancy Xmas Grin

We've also settled our plan for Christmas Day. FIL & his wife are coming to us, with my family invited for Boxing Day which I'm happy with.
It does now mean the pressure is on to sort a nice Christmas table though doesn't it? I want to get a table cloth and a nice table centre of some description, but it needs to match the gold table runner and tartan napkins I've already got.
I'm planning to have a little wander around B&M on the weekend as it's only 5 mins away now Xmas Smile

How is your ds Wreck?

WreckTangled · 02/11/2021 15:12

Do it Hayup

Crazy he perked up this morning but has gone downhill again. The doctor is going to see him once I've finished my last lecture.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 15:45

Mine will be going up after 11/11, prob about 20/11...I've spent a fair bit and I want my moneys worth!!
Hayup get a battery powered set and drape them on him when he falls asleep watching the F1/Footy...when, not if!! 😉😂
And get the lights for the fireplace. He can take DD for a walk/bike ride you can tell her, if she can keep a secret then put them up "ready for Father Christmas" as his Sat-nav might be on the blink. Halo

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 15:48

Crazy just sneak them up in your lunch break take a bit longer while he's at work and don't tell him...mine doesn't really pay that much attention...maybe greet him with a beer, that works!🍻😂

WreckTangled · 02/11/2021 16:49

Just viral so will have to wait it out.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2021 16:58

Always viral, isn't it? Xmas Hmm Hopefully he gets better soon.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 17:00

Wreck He's going to be snuggled up on the sofa with a blanky and ice-cream for a few more days then. Bear

WreckTangled · 02/11/2021 17:09

Dh and I are arguing over who has tomorrow off.

I was wfh yesterday and a uni day today so was able to continue whilst looking after him. I have two school visits booked in tomorrow, one big am and one small pm. I reckon I can be home by 10:30. He wants me to stay home in the morning and go to work at 1 so he can go in first thing to do something to do with concrete Hmm I've already said I can stay home Thursday but so has he.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 17:17

His turn. You did yesterday and today and the docs.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2021 18:11

He stays home; you've done 2 days already.

CrazyBaubles · 02/11/2021 18:22

puss If I wasn't such a wimp so afraid of spiders I wouldn't care what DH said about the decs but I don't want to have go in the attic myself to get them down.
I think DH just likes the bickering to ge honest because he usually gives in 🙄

Wreck I agree with Fluffy and Puss - you having to miss work doesn't seem fair does it?

DH & I had a bit of a stand-off about our Christmas Day plans because I wanted to invite my family for dinner and he wanted to invite his.
We saw my parents last year though so I gave in, and his family are really nice so I don't mind too much.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/11/2021 18:33

Crazy I've never seen a spider in our loft. Not been in there that often, but I think they want somewhere warmer, like our bedrooms etc. Grin Be brave, take a spare can of deodorant and zap them with that if you see one!
Or just buy some new ones for now.
He'll cave.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2021 18:38

I haven't had to miss any work though as I was due to WFH anyway. It's really tricky. We will both still get paid. His work will get done but mine will still be waiting for me when I get back.

I've got the worst period pain in my lower back, I don't think I've ever had it so bad.

ConstantlyCooking · 02/11/2021 19:51

I hope your son is on the mend Wreck. I second Fluffy's recommendation for an oximeter/ I bought one in the summer when DS had covid,
I am planning a trip to John Lewis tomorrow to look at decorations plus a trip to Matalan as I have a 20% off voucher. (Plus I need to go into work for a couple of hours).
No spiders in our loft - just in our bedroom along with some evil-looking ladybirds.
I am starting a part-time/distance learning course in a couple of weeks and am hoping i still get time to relax and enjoy Christmas!

CrazyBaubles · 02/11/2021 20:45

I wouldn't be able to sleep with ladybirds in the house Constantly 🤢 They freak me out.
We never saw them in our old house but we've had a fair few here and I squish them. I'd take almost any other creepy crawly over them even though I hate them all.

Also, I've never actually been in the attic here so no idea if there are spiders up there, I always just sort of presume 🤷‍♀️

I'm trying to find a simple crochet pattern / idea for a Christmas cushion for my auntie and I'm being ridiculously indecisive. Not sure what's wrong with me!
