good and bad

pussycatlickinglollyices · 17/10/2021 13:18

70 I saw the HC Velvetiser too - I prefer my method of making it "cold" then zapping in the microwave for 2 mins (lattes are done like this too).
How do they make vegan fish? 🤔🤯
Wreck Charlie barfed earlier in the week, I suspect he's been eating flies the ones Tilly hasn't scoffed first last night there was a kerfuffle on the stairs (both cats, lots of chasing and crashing about) I put the light on and there was the biggest dead spider I have seen, I swear it must have been part tarantula. Shock I may have squealed a bit...DH hoovered it up and said he could hear it rattling, going up the pipe. 🕷😱

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2021 13:38

I've been channeling my inner mole and digging the allotment over! Tired now.

It's very much a project which will take some weeks!

I have loads of squashes which aren't quite ripe. Hopefully they'll get there before it's too cold!

This is what I dug over today...loads of lovely worms within too! ❤️ I found some clay pipe which is part of the old irrigation system and some stray spuds!

So envious of your soil Fluffy. Soggy clay here - not helped by builders rubble lurking just below the top surface.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/10/2021 13:50

Our cats chase flies , they are like little heat seeking missiles ! I'm relieved it's not a wasp or a bee (don't want them stung) or a mouse (dont want in the house )
I can usually rescue most prey if the;re un damaged .

No idea what the vegan fish was made of , TBH , I rarely ate fish when I was a meat eater so I was impressed it was a bit chewy and in crisp batter . (Not like the Quorn Vegan Fishless fingers which are like eating soggy cotton wool )

Im stalking a steam aereator on Costco , I could do frothy foamy milk and the hot chocolate . I was put off my the Velvetiser reviews that it isn't hot .
And I cannot do milk in the microwave in case it gets skin on it even if its stirred in I know its there .
Soya milk is less likely to skin but it behaves badly at too high a temperature .
Saucepan and a whisk (and an eagle eye )

70 my sister and bil were also in Brighton this weekend. Bil had vegan fish and chips, probably the same plaice (see what I did there WinkGrin)

I've folded all the washing and ds got man of the match. Really pleased for him. Haven't done any uni work though, I'm freezing so might snooze under a blanket.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 17/10/2021 14:05

Plaice 🤦‍♀️

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/10/2021 14:08

Ha! at Plaice
Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2021 14:34

Woolly, there's a clay sub layer to the soil, but the top level is lovely!

70, I detest milk skin too. 🤮

Hello all! Busy weekend of doing odds and ends. Visit to Lidl yesterday and am £70 lighter Shock but I did get vast quantities of lebukchen and a lobster plus a munchkin pumpkin for DD. Then housework all afternoon after a walk.
Church then straight to swimming today, fast food lunch and then to Dunelm. Bought a box for storing the Christmas treats in so we don't eat them all ahead of time and a cute little reindeer doormat. Almost didn't get what we went for ha!
I'm terrible with spiders Puss, bit envious you have cats to get rid of yours
Crazy ever since I've noticed Heart Christmas I do the Sunday ironing with it playing. DP thinks I'm insane.
70 I hate that milk skin, puts me right off. I have a travel mug that does this to any drink I put in there.

CrazyBaubles · 17/10/2021 16:53

Oh dear. I've had a read through my posts last night - the Christmas planner was my birthday present not Christmas and I made some random purchases in shops as we moved between pubs 🙄

Drunken purchases are all ok, if a little bit random. I bought myself a nice dress and a ring, there's a sheep Christmas ornament for MIL, a tambourine (which I'm assuming I got for niece or nephew) and some American sour candy for my dads hamper Xmas Grin
I'm too afraid to look at the online banking though!

🤢 at the dead spider puss

Congrats to your ds Wreck

Bad news this end at the moment though - both my parents have Covid. My dad showed symptoms first but they're both feeling awful. I had to do an emergency shop for soothers, painkillers and squash for them before their online shop arrives tomorrow.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/10/2021 17:04

Oh no Crazy. Hope they aren't too poorly and that it passes quickly for them.

MissingMo · 17/10/2021 19:41

Hope they feel better soon Crazy

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2021 20:01

Oh goodness, Crazy. Do they know where the first of them caught it? I hope it passes swiftly.

DH is doing mince pies as we speak. I'm bloody hungry after my two or so hours of digging (with no lunch).

I have my autumn clearance plans in place for the allotment. I was talking to a fellow plotholder earlier and we agreed that the bulk of the clearing needs to be done before the end of next month, before it gets too cold and wet. I didn't get it all cleared last year and started on the back foot, never really catching up all season. I aim to do better this year!

CrazyBaubles · 17/10/2021 20:19

Thank you all. I've never seen my parents so ill, they're really struggling right now.
We think my dad brought it home as he showed symptoms first but really it could be either as they're both having to go out to work so are mixing with people.

My energy is disappearing quickly now. I've made the lining for the inside of the Santa bag and the strap. Just fiddly bits left to do now - sewing the fabric lining to the crocheted outside and I definitely can't be arsed to do that tonight!

WreckTangled · 17/10/2021 20:37

Oh no crazy how horrible for them. I hope they make a speedy recovery, so many people getting it now. I'm not sure if the vaccine is wearing off or it's just because so many people have it. It doesn't help that all those people had negative PCR's when they were probably positive. Both dc's schools are still doing well, no one off properly in either class (maybe one day here and there so not Covid) all term.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2021 20:40

I have no clue about absences at our school...we don't ask and don't get told! 🤣

WreckTangled · 17/10/2021 20:54

Dds class have won the attendance award every week Grin and with ds, well, it's a small school so we all know everyone's business Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 17/10/2021 22:10

Attendance awards in secondary? Since when are they a thing? We only had those in the infants.

Yes they compete against the other tutor groups in their year and win sweets apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️

5° this morning, coldest it's been I think. Hate going out so early, mainly because I'm really scared of the dark BlushGrin

pussycatlickinglollyices · 18/10/2021 06:59

Morning,
Sorry to hear about your Mum and Dad Crazy I hope they feel better soon. 💐
Isn't it dark this morning? I don't think it's as cold here as with you Wreck but the weather is supposed to turn again.

WreckTangled · 18/10/2021 07:35

Lovely sunrise this morning, the photos never do it justice.

Morning!

Definitely not as cold here yet, but we're kept warmer due to the coastal position. We rarely get frosts here too; scraping your car in the morning is relatively rare and we feel hard done to if we have to!.

I've done the cross trainer, though I already ache from yesterday's digging, so tomorrow could be fun! 🙄

DD was saying how dark it is, Puss. It does seem more dark than not now, and still 2 months til the shortest day!
