What’s everyone getting for their teenage boys? I won’t put an age on it as I need any and all ideas! Anyone have any ideas that aren’t clothes/trainers?

I'm also stuck. So far all I can come up with is a new iPhone and few items towards his collection.

Last year Oodies were a huge hit here. They wore them every day for months.

Saladovercrispsanyday · 24/09/2021 10:11

Is it worth getting a genuine oodie? Or a decent fake suffice?

jaffacakefan · 24/09/2021 10:17

Just placemarking! Great ideas on this thread 😊

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/09/2021 10:28

It’s definitely getting tougher,
DS (16) has said don’t bother it’s all the stocking filler stuff - you just get that so you feel better that I have more to open!
He’ll definitely be getting the usual pants, socks, chocolate and book in his stocking but i’m a bit lost beyond that.
I like the idea of experiences - something we can do as a family.
And vouchers to get food and drinks when he’s out and about is a good call too.

They're on to us.

@Billandben444

Love all the above except socks - and novelty socks right at the bottom! Something an elderly aunt would buy a teen.
You say that But mine has said “when I win the lottery I’m going to have new socks every day”.

So it’s the closest to a lottery win, that I can give him.
@EvilPea could you share links of terrarium kit you recommend...
I just bought all the bits in a garden centre

Etsy have lots. James wong on Instagram has lots of advice.
This one looks good though

Saladovercrispsanyday · 24/09/2021 12:03

How much care and involvement in them?

herecomesthsun · 24/09/2021 12:07

I have put aside some jellybeans in interesting flavours, they go down well.

Mine (young teen) got a coin purse in the shape of a niffler last year, that went down well too.

Menkind do some fun gadgets.

FreezerBird · 24/09/2021 12:07

The terrarium?

Hardly any - spray it occasionally and wipe over the glass - but ours is quite a simple one.

My kids arent teenages, they are only 7… but ive got the tickets to see Hot Wheels Monster truck live. They are going to love it. Dont think you have to be a hot wheels fan.

Ours loved that at that age @Voiceofreason92. It’s very noisy- ear defenders are a good idea.

You’ll have a great time!

Voiceofreason92 · 24/09/2021 18:06

Thanks for the tip @muchtoomuchtodo

NotPennysBoat · 24/09/2021 18:23

@BonnesVacances can you link to the kind of weekend bag you mean? I'm desperate for ideas for my 15yo nephew - I know nothing about boys or teenagers!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/09/2021 18:34

@NotPennysBoat i think there was a link further up the thread but it’s not a bag that I can relate to a 15 year old boy wanting.

Our 2 boys use bags similar to this for weekends away www.adidas.co.uk/tiro-primegreen-bottom-compartment-duffel-bag-medium/GH7270.html

coodawoodashooda · 24/09/2021 18:50

What about a teddy made from one of our old clothing items, or is that shit?

coodawoodashooda · 24/09/2021 18:51

Squirty cream

Ricekrispie22 · 24/09/2021 18:52

Giant beanbag
Waffle maker
Lego architect
Space bullet pen
Chess set

alrightfella · 24/09/2021 18:52

@coodawoodashooda for a teenage boy present? DS would think I'd gone mad. I think that kind of thing is for parents only. I'm sentimental about his old stuff but I doubt he could care less about his old baby grows !

Muchtoomuchtodo · 24/09/2021 19:38

I’d like that as a gift, doubt my teenage sons would be impressed at all!

To be honest It would be a very very very unusual teen boy that would be over the moon at this present!
coodawoodashooda · 25/09/2021 09:34

Fair enough re the teddy.

@Saladovercrispsanyday

I think the fake Oodies should fine. My DS wouldn't be bothered at all if his was fake. He's tall though 6ft and his Oodie is long, massive and super comfy so he can curl right up inside it. I turned the heating down last winter just so we could all wear them as no one wanted to take them off.

The real oodies are brilliant - we all had them last year and they are still going strong. I've bought various other fake versions as gifts and they don't feel anything like the real ones.
