I'm doing ours on 1st December as, even though it is a Wednesday, I randomly have a day off!

What about you?

Probably last weekend in November. We love it.

TangledTrees · 24/09/2021 11:13

Last weekend of November, a big real tree, goes up on the Saturday then leave the branches to settle for 24 hrs before decorating on the Sunday. Can’t wait 🎄

headintheproverbial · 24/09/2021 11:14

11th but more likely 18th December. Will put up some other decs before that tho.

caringcarer · 24/09/2021 11:15

I have a real tree and central heating so tree will go up Dec 18th as normal. Come down Jan 6th.

Ughmaybenot · 24/09/2021 11:33

We tend to aim for the first weekend in December really. We didn’t bother at all 2019 Christmas as we were going travelling on the 27th December and not coming back for several months, so would have either needed to take everything down on Port-and-Cheese Day (Boxing Day) or left it until we got back… which would’ve been weird 😂 but it did make a difference to how Christmassy the house felt 👎🏻

All too often nthey go up 24th because we work right up to the buzzer.... but I have resigned from my job and am taking time off as my Ds1 has SEN and I am SO excited to just focus on family and home.

I will retrain myself and not put things up until 1 december though... :)

4BlueTowers · 24/09/2021 13:03

I am not Christian. (Jewish). But I adore celebrating Christmas with my Christian husband. Just like I adore celebrating Passover and Succot (this weekend!).

I throw myself into the principle of 'life can be hard, let;s take any excuse to party!'.

(Big fan of a traditional sort of halloween too)

Famousfrays · 24/09/2021 13:04

Probably late November. My DM puts it up for her birthday in mid November so the DC will want them up around then

Bundttin · 24/09/2021 13:05

Real tree. Up on19th. Down on 12th night.

MummyJ12 · 24/09/2021 13:07

Totally agree with you @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER it’s so easy to scroll past active threads that don’t float your boat. Let us that do like/love Christmas enjoy posting about it!
I’ll be putting my tree up anytime between 1st December and first weekend of December. I always open a tin/tub of Roses while I’m decorating it, and have a glass or two of Bailey’s. 💗

Ooh i am so doing this this year. (Baileys)

Love the cheesy films too. Deck the Halls is a fave.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/09/2021 13:19

@MummyJ12, I make my first batch of mince pies on 1st December, with the first carols playing and a glass (or three) of mulled wine. 🍷🎄
I will probably dig out my book of Easy Carols too, and bash out a few on the piano. And somewhere I have a lovely (but not so easy) arrangement of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - must find that in time.

MummyJ12 · 24/09/2021 13:26

I’m going to try and make my own mince pies again this year. The perfect ones seem beyond my capabilities! But there’s nothing like a homemade mince pie.

SerendipitySunshine · 24/09/2021 13:29

Last Sunday in November.

It's the Christmas thread 🤷‍♀️

First Saturday in December for us. My autumn decorations will go up 9th October which will no doubt annoy people too 😂

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/09/2021 14:16

@Yankee63, haven’t you got anything better to do than posting on a dedicated Christmas thread, just to complain about it?

Ninkanink · 24/09/2021 14:20

No it’s really not.

I love Christmas, it’s very special to me - very much tied up with happy childhood memories of people I really love(d). I love thinking about it, planning for it, creating for it, all the while remembering past Christmases whilst anticipating future ones. It’s my happy place.

None of that stops me enjoying the present every single day.

Yankee63 · 24/09/2021 14:20

Aghhh guys sorry didn’t see Christmas

ineedaholidayandwine · 24/09/2021 14:24

Sat 4th, can't wait :-) new house this year so i get to have the whole tree constructed (last house i couldn't have all the lower branches as would have stuck out too far)
I also get to buy a new tree for the sitting room as 2 sitting areas here. My husband is dreading me going shopping :-D

languagelover96 · 24/09/2021 14:29

Yet to decide.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/09/2021 14:43

Either the 11th or 18th, then back down on the 2nd before back to work.

ChequerBoard · 24/09/2021 14:45

Wooden advent calendar at start of December, then house decs gradually after DDs birthday on 11th Dec.

Tree is brought in just before Xmas Eve, but actually decorating the tree and switching on the lights is a big part of Xmas Eve tradition in our house

Wimpeyspread · 24/09/2021 14:47

Christmas Eve - Christmas does not start on 1st December!!

Gothichouse40 · 24/09/2021 14:47

It's September, are we seriously discussing Christmas trees?
