Hmm maybe I should qualify that with "my 1980s Christmas's in my early teens". The 80s were very different in their approach to child raising, Im not suggesting early teens should be on the liqueurs Hmm before Mumsnet jumps on me Blush

sittingonacornflake · 15/09/2021 20:01

In the Clearance display today my local branch of Boots had a few Christmas gift sets "brought up from the basement," ie old or discontinued stock, marked at £10 each. There were 3 different Bare Minerals sets, including this one. On the Bare Minerals website those lip glosses are £18 each.

There had other discontinued items - I got two Clarins moisturisers for £10 each - and some smaller gift sets (can't remember the brands) at £5.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned before ( only been reading last 2 threads). But this website is fantastic for stocking fillers bargains . Stock changes all the time so worth checking weekly.

Checking in!

I was in the original factory shop today, some bargain bits in there.
Lots of fidget toys including spinners with a bouncy bit for £1.50 (perfect for dds stocking!)
Nice notebooks with characters on inc baby yoda for £3
Packs of 3 books of dot to dot (squares game), hangman template, tic tac toe template. With instructions on the back. £1 per pack. I bought one of each and will split into stockings.

Big long boxes of pringles with little pots inside of different flavours for £6.

Also a reminder, check out charity shops. Today I picked up brand new dvds for 99p each, brand new logo game for £1.99. And Facebook marketplace, ive seen loads of big toys like dolls houses really cheap recently. (Saves building if you buy it second hand 🤪)

Crayola Washimals Pets Tattoo Shop playset is down to £6.50 on Amazon at the moment - can't link on my phone but it'll come up on a search. My Dd is too old for these now but has enjoyed them in her stocking in the past.

FrumpyMumsy · 15/09/2021 20:20

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah walkie talkies? My 4yo loves them.

Thanks for this! DD5 loves these abs even DD9 will join in!
ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 15/09/2021 20:23

Thanks for all the brilliant suggestions. I've earmarked walkie talkies for next year as his brother is only 2 in Jan and doesn't talk much so I'd like them to be a joint present. Can't wait though, it will be great fun 🙂

bookish83 · 15/09/2021 20:23

Lots of stockings and sacks in my local B&M, the silver ones look great too!

Not as much Halloween stock though

Pissinthepottyplease · 15/09/2021 20:26

Found this unicorn at Hamleys. Claims to be £16 but is in the 2 for £15 offer.

They also have a bigger version reduced from £70 to £24 in the sale section.

imnottoofussed · 15/09/2021 20:36

RainbowPhilosophy · 15/09/2021 20:37

I may have mentioned the Christmas threads to DH who has now said let's go to the big B&M about 5 or 6 miles away at the weekend for a nosy (never been before!). Does anybody need me to look out for anything?

Hi all, not Xmas related but please could I have some ideas for an boys 11th birthday, very smart loves reading, Harry Potter Minecraft etc but looking for something he might not have.

MrsLeclerc · 15/09/2021 20:55

@sittingonacornflake We are huge Lego fans and we’re nurturing 3 year old DS’s love of it! He was given a set for his birthday which was a Mickey and Minnie space set £16 on Amazon. The instruction book had outlines of kids hands to help them understand how to put the parts together. A set like that might be good if they want to help build. DS managed to put together more than we were expecting.

spudjulia · 15/09/2021 20:56

@IggyAce I bought one direct from Jasmine Silk last year, on the recommendation of someone from these threads. The one sided one on Amazon is cheaper direct from jasmine silk, £15.

I actually bought the 22 momme one for £40 and it's been lovely. Washed every week, so cooling (I hate being hot in bed) and it really does help me to avoid bed hair.

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah what about a yoto player (depending on budget). Added bonus of future present option of cards for it which are also nice and small!

Oooh that's really clever with the instructions! Thank you

@NightOwl19 I came on here to recommend the John Lewis sewing machine as well. I bought it for myself as a complete novice and find it easy to set up. Lovely colours too. They pop up on eBay quite often as well (is the JL110 not the mini) The mini John Lewis one pops up too but I don’t know anything about that one.
