Did you manage to get cheaper flights, Wreck?

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2021 19:08

The M&S website was being glitchy earlier, so I gave up nosing. I'm not buying from there anyway, it'll be Booths, Sainsbury's and the local cheese shop for me!

lachy · 28/09/2021 19:24

I've perused M&S... Am wondering whether its worth ordering or getting the stuff we want and putting it in the freezer.

When I was in the little Tesco earlier I picked up a selection Box and some milky buttons and one of the assistants said "I don't blame you starting early, we probably won't have anything nearer Christmas"

The chap in the queue next to me gave us THE LOOK Hmm

WreckTangled · 28/09/2021 19:50

Yes. Not as cheap as they would have been a few months ago Hmm dh has paid for the flights though. Hoping my dad will be taxi Grin then we don't have to pay airport parking. I'm going to keep the booking.com hotel and if it goes cheaper again I'll rebook with Clubcard vouchers.

Oh I'm in heaven 😍

WreckTangled · 28/09/2021 20:06

We appear to be having a thunder storm with torrential rain Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2021 20:14
Don't! I looked yesterday...divine, isn't it?!

We've been on Noah-summoning weather all day. No thunder though!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 28/09/2021 20:17

We've got fork lightning and loads of thunder.

WreckTangled · 29/09/2021 05:55

87 it's cold out his morning 8°. Really felt the chill when I got out of bed. I went to bed at 8:30 too as I felt so cold. Just waiting for the gym to open.

Just found out ds also has a residential next year! It's only two nights but he's only year 4. Good luck to them Grin

pussycatlickinglollyices · 29/09/2021 05:59

87
I woke up with a sneeze at 3.30 🤧 DH slept through it Hmm
Like a knob, I swapped the thin summer (4.5) duvet for the autumnal (10.5) one to stop him moaning about being cold and predictably I got far too hot. DH had [it the heating on and closed the windows too, so it was really stuffy - If I'd known the windows were shut when we went to bed, I would have opened them!
It's been chucking it down, but has gone off now. I might need a nap later...🥱

pussycatlickinglollyices · 29/09/2021 06:01

put the heating on...I really do need some sleep Grin

WreckTangled · 29/09/2021 06:07

Dh always closes the windows as he's scared of spiders. Drives me mad, I hate sleeping with the window closed.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 29/09/2021 06:10

Grin I have to have a few open, one on each side of the house as long as it's not blowing a gale.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2021 07:38

We keep the windows open / on vent in the bedrooms all year round. And the summer duvet on.

Our forecast is 40% chance of rain all day but we have so much washing we're just going to risk it. No clouds at present and a nice breeze! Let's hope it lasts.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 29/09/2021 09:13

We have windows both ends of the bedroom - I keep the ones next to my side of the bed closed usually but the other ones open - my logic is that if spiders crawl in they should get DH first (and the horrendous one that landed next to me last week was because I went to bed early by myself).

We also have the conservatory door open pretty much all day every day so ddog can come and go as he pleases, although I did close it yesterday as there was torrential rain.

Today should be bright and dry but a bit chilly - 13°. I have a load of washing on though so my basket is empty 🥳

I'm home alone until around 9pm as DH is out after work so I have big plans to walk the dog, watch Bake off and work out the best way to crochet a beard on to the Santa bag my mum has requested. I've tried 2 methods that haven't worked the way I wanted them to so far...

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2021 09:20

It's a perfect drying day here. Our second load is on and the first load out. Our usual washing pattern is out of the window this week, but we're grabbing drying days as and when! Tomorrow is forecast 'Noah' again.

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 29/09/2021 09:59

Crazy would this help Santa Amigurumi? I used the hat part of the pattern for an item I made for the WH sale.

Washing in here too as it's bright and windy.

I'm having one of those can't be arsed days. I was busy cooking for the freezer yesterday and I think I used up all my oomph for the week.

WreckTangled · 29/09/2021 10:51

I've booked the Christmas lights trail at the zoo and afternoon tea at the dome. I will book day zoo tickets nearer the time as I can't do it yet. I think that's all I need to book this far in advance.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 29/09/2021 11:58

DH went to the dentist earlier, and got a phonecall within 5 mins of leaving cancelling it and rebooking for Nov. 🤷‍♀️ He only has his phone on when he's out.
He drove past our local Tesco and Morrisons it was on his way and there was fuel and no queues.
Sausage casserole in the oven...wondered why it was a bit dark...the bloody bulb has gone!
Honestly, after the last week I just give up. NEXT time, don't let me buy a shitty Hotpoint again. Stop me, even if you have to duct tape me to a wall and confiscate my CCard. 🤬
Woolly I may need to borrow your remaining oomph, mine went AWOL days ago.
Crazy Have you thought about using a darning needle and sewing over the red underneath? It would give him a very bushy beard. Grin

WreckTangled · 29/09/2021 12:07

We haven't got any fuel still. I've got 130 miles left in the tank and am getting a bit nervous. Have booked a food delivery for Saturday.

BiddyPop · 29/09/2021 15:38

We had a distinct drop in temps yesterday afternoon, not just an afternoon to evening drop, but summer moving to autumn drop. I think a heavier duvet will be coming out this weekend.

We haven't had issues with fuel, but we are hearing more about potential supply chain issues generally, and also electricity supply issues. Which is just a good excuse for me to actually go and buy some lovely winter smelling candles....just in case of powercuts, dontchya know.....

MeredithMae · 29/09/2021 18:13

I am always freezing. Don't know why, I've got more than enough padding! We have a very old and very cold detached house that can't seem to keep the heat in. However DW runs hotter than me. She insists on the window open at night while I beg it to be closed! I'm currently living in my Oodie and slipper socks.

Our heating bills have just gone up to £180 a month. And we haven't even had the heating on this year yet. We've got it on the Hive to come on at 18 and it hasn't yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2021 18:38

Our lounge is currently 18.3°, so we're not putting the heating on. That's reserved for below 18° for a sustained time, like yesterday!

We've managed to dry loads of washing today, thankfully, as it's been very breezy and mostly sunny. It'll keep us going til the after-school wash on Friday, anyway. Good job with the forecast.

Puss, we have a Hotpoint washing machine. It's doing OK for now, at age 6. It's insured, so they'll replace it if they can't fix it, anyway. Phew!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/09/2021 18:49

Our hotpoint washing machine is 13 years old and our dryer 12. The fridge is a few weeks HmmGrin

CrazyBaubles · 29/09/2021 19:34

puss we went for a hot point oven and hob when we moved so 🤞🏼 they last.

Temp has massively dropped her tonight. According to the thermostat in the hallway it's 14°! Heating is on 🥶

I managed to dry my washing today too Fluffy. I had my doubts due to the cold but there were sunny spells and wind so the only thing still damp is the Bath mat.

Now back to working on my crochet beard. puss what do you mean about sewing over the red underneath? (Sorry if that's me being thick)!.

Thank you for the suggestion Woolly but I was hoping for something with texture - the pics are as close to my idea as I can find but I can't get it to work on something as big as the bag (Santa's face is approx 20cm diameter)
