Morning! It's allotment day today...once I've dragged my arse out of bed that is!

It sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday, Woolly. ❤️

Morning. Have just been reading all the awful comments about the loos at victorious. Apparently there aren't enough and people have been queuing for an hour! Dreading it now...

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2021 08:38

Which means they'll also be more minging than a standard festival loo too! Good luck!

WreckTangled · 29/08/2021 08:45

I know 🤢 I'm pretty good at holding it in as is dd luckily!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2021 08:50

Take wipes and loo roll with you! I can smell them in my head. 🤢🤢

Morning all!

@TheWoollybacksWife sounds like a lovely, emotional day (hugs)

@NoWordForFluffy Gardening day here - weeding mostly 😫

@WreckTangled Rayher you than me, But loos aside hope you have a fabulous time.

FireflyGirl · 29/08/2021 08:53

What's the set up for Victorious, Wreck?

There's a festival that takes place in a part of the city centre here, and the loo queue was so bad, it was quicker to go out, go to a nearby pub, have a wee and a drink there, and then go back into the festival!!

Glad you all had a lovely time yesterday, Woolly.

After a slight hiccup while packing where DH locked us out of the house for an hour, the Muppet!! we're on holiday! Yey! Cottage is brilliant - very higgledy piggledy, lots of cupboards for DS to hide in, good cooking facilities and a safe space for DD. A slight downside is that there's not much privacy as it's right next to the pub, as in there's people sat outside 2 feet from the front door, but with the windows closed you can't even hear them, and we drew all the curtains.

Looking forward to a day of exploring today! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2021 08:55

Yay, Firefly. Important question: how much loo roll did they leave for you?! 🤔🤣

Morning all! @TheWoollybacksWife, that sounds like a lovely day. Happy belated birthday to your DD. @WreckTangled oh Lord, my idea of hell - hope you enjoy the rest of the event though!

Heading to a vintage folk picnic today with DD and some friends. So making a huge pile of sandwiches this morning! And crossing my fingers that the weather picks up...

WreckTangled · 29/08/2021 10:16

Well I can't go for now as my insulin pump had failed and I have to wait 2-8 hours for a new one to be delivered. Trying my best not to cry in front of everyone (and also trying not to die).

peachgreen · 29/08/2021 11:53

Oh noooo, @WreckTangled, that's such a shame! I'd let yourself have a good cry, it usually helps. Flowers

lachy · 29/08/2021 16:57

Aww Wreck sending you a hug ((hug))

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2021 16:58

Oh bloody hell, Wreck. How quickly did it arrive in the end?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 29/08/2021 17:14

2pm. Had to come from Heathrow! If we had been at home it would have been a bit quicker.

BaconAndAvocado · 29/08/2021 17:47

NoWordForFluffy I think I'm going to have to get the bbc Good Food Christmas mag.

Reading it in August may be a step too far, even for me! Will wait until the 1st September 😂

You are very worthy making jam. I have a friend who makes chutney, it's bloody amazing!

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/08/2021 19:12

Wreck I hope you are all connected back up now.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about my family shindig yesterday. I had another little sniffle this afternoon when everyone left for the second time after coming here for breakfast. I'm such a wuss 😭 I did however manage to give my SILs their reindeer place settings in case we don't meet again this side of Christmas dinner.

Enjoy your holiday Firefly and do fill us in on the loo roll count 😂. Our recent holiday home had one in each en suite and one in the communal loo (one of the teenagers nicked this when they ran out and I was the poor sod who discovered it was missing just a little too late). We had an 18 pack with us and brought about half of them home with us so 1 roll for an entire home is extremely stingy laughable.

Morning!

I slept like the dead last night! The allotment clearly took it out of me. 🤣

It's ironing and naming day today for school shirts for DS, plus his tie. They wear polo shirts in the infants but shirt and tie in juniors. The jumper is also less suffocating and is one which will dry more quickly than the infants' sweatshirt one.

I'm going to make sausage rolls for Christmas today too. 😋

Morning all. Grey and miserable here again today. DH said last night that he was a bit chilly, I got all excited thinking yay!! Time to put the heating on!! But he quickly declared that there was no way that the heating was going on in August.

(Looks like it's going to be switched on on Wednesday Xmas Grin Which is a good thing...needs testing and checking over before the winter)

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2021 08:36

My parents' heating came on yesterday morning, mum said. They just leave it on timed and use the thermostat, so if it's cold enough, it comes on.

Our house isn't at 'heating putting on' temp yet, as it's maintaining above 18°.

OP posts:
pussycatlickinglollyices · 30/08/2021 09:09

Lachy please test it! We put ours on last month on the one "cool" day to find a radiator not working. At least it gives you time to find someone to do repairs when you don't need it (supposedly Hmm)
Fluffy our bedroom was 20 at 2am, and again at 4am...I didn't get much sleep...DH was jiggling his legs, NDN came home at 2, cats fighting outside not ours I was glad to get up for a rest!🤦🏻‍♀️
We also discovered a dead rat on the drive again and cat barf on our step. Obviously the B&B we provided to NDNs cat while they were away wasn't quite up to standard - everyone's a critic.🤷🏻‍♀️😲

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2021 09:20

Cat kills rat then pukes when it realises how dirty rats are?! 🤔🤣

It's about 20° in our bedrooms too, Puss. It is in the dining room too, and I've not been in the front room yet other than to bollock the kids.

Right, time to be productive and head out to do stuff.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/08/2021 09:26

I slept really well and only woke up half an hour ago! I need to go to Aldi to do a food shop. Dh is still in bed...

I'm hoping it doesn't get cold enough for heating for a while as it's all got so expensive. Our house gets damp if we don't have it on when it needs it though and the dc start coughing.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/08/2021 09:28

Yes, the bills have gone through the roof, haven't they? Wholesale prices have gone up at least 50%, which is why bills have too. Sigh. It's shite adulting!

OP posts:
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/08/2021 09:37

pops in and waves I haven't been around much, MN's too transphobic and with having a trans son and a genderfluid child I find it impossible to sit on my hands. I usually go and rant about MN on Twitter instead. It feels very autumnal, I need a PSL. All the the personal traditions we have didn't happen last year, this year at least we had the Tolkien Society picnic in Regent's Park and I went to McDonald's for my birthday. I'm hoping Winter Wonderland will happen.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/08/2021 09:39
