Here we go. Couldn't think of a witty thread title. Soz!

Ooh Wreck that does sound like a lot of homework for DD!! I hope the teacher realised the problem at some point. Maybe you should send DS in to "have a chat" with her...?! It sounds like he is well skilled to handle any dissenting voices. Grin

Welcome Shadows - this is a lovely bunch!! Lots of Christmas madness (and plenty of ordinary madness too Xmas Grin).

Happy birthday Firefly DH.

Thanks lachy, meetings were mostly productive but the first was a project kickoff for our division (6th of 7 to be done) so the presenter was bored giving it, and none of us wanted to hear about it. Meanwhile, I managed to sneak in 2 quick Teams VCs (one on ones) with my staff, so we got a load of general bits sorted (and some general chat too) which was both good and nice to see them. We start going back into the office 1 day a week in 2 weeks time...

Sun is shining (rain slower to cross the Atlantic so tomorrow will be wetter), so I'm wearing shorts to enjoy what might be the last of the heat and casual days. I started wearing work shoes this week to break myself back into them - oof my toes!

BiddyPop · 16/09/2021 10:34

Only 100 days! I haven't even started shopping yet! (Today's job will be buying cards from RNLI shop - for next week's plane journeys Xmas Grin )

MeredithMae · 16/09/2021 14:43

@WreckTangled I feel your homework woes. Poor DS has only been at secondary for 2 weeks and is already spending around an hour a night doing it. He's struggling as he's tired and grumpy after school as it is... oh I HATE homework with a passion.

MeredithMae · 16/09/2021 14:49

My eBay cheapie autumn wreath arrived! It's lovely and I'm chuffed with it. Not bad for under £20. There it will stay til I break out our lush Christmas one on Dec 1st.

Ooh Fluffy! You've started something stirring now. I might have to go to Booths Xmas Grin

I'm crocheting Holly leaves this evening for my cushions. I need 30. I've done 2...

WreckTangled · 16/09/2021 16:21

Dds spoken to her friends who have said they did (or are still doing) the same homework so it seems that that was the correct one. Ridiculous.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2021 18:07

Did anybody ask the teacher though?

Lachy, how long does a crocheted holly leaf take?

Only 2 sleeps until Strictly. Too exciting! 💃 🕺

WreckTangled · 16/09/2021 18:15

No they haven't asked the teacher because they don't have their lesson until tomorrow. Although dd says you can ask her anything because she just shouts at you Hmm

lachy · 16/09/2021 18:30

Not too long @NoWordForFluffy...I think I've cracked it, so 10 minutes of not very focused crocheting!

lachy · 16/09/2021 18:36

This is the pattern... I bought the crochet kits about a month ago (from Deramores) I have way more red and green wool than I need, so I'm going to do some garlands using the left over wool!

That's a foreign language to me! 🤣🤣

lachy · 16/09/2021 19:02

lol... its taken me a bit of deciphering. I am not good at following patterns - up to now I've just watched a YouTube tutorial and that's how I've learnt. Patterns are tricky!

MeredithMae · 16/09/2021 19:43

I crochet blankets. I've made loads. All from Attic24's tutorials. But I can't do anything else!!

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/09/2021 19:55

Meredith if you can do the basic stitches then you can make anything! There's bound to be a YouTube tutorial for shaping or new stitches. Try a cowl or some wrist warmers. You could make a granny square scarf. Hats are quite straightforward if you can crochet in a circle.

The Attic24 Christmas wreath is fun to make too. I've got a wreath form that I bought earlier this year - I might make something Christmas themed if my to-do list calms down a bit.

CrazyBaubles · 16/09/2021 21:22

Neros I dip in and out of the bargain threads but they move so fast I don't think I've ever bought anything from them.

Fluffy I haven't actually bought the Christmas bundle - my payment wouldn't go through and I got annoyed so left it. Turns out I'm an idiot and was putting in the card number for one account but the security code of another 🙄 so I'm taking the time to think about it as I should have the digital version anyway and I have a few from year and the year before I think.

Wreck I hope that homework is a mistake otherwise it's just brutal!

lachy that looks very similar to the Holly pattern I have scribbled somewhere - stolen from Pinterest I think Xmas Grin

Woolly I have a foam wreath thing that's waiting for me to do something with it. It's been sat in my craft box for at least 2 years because I can't decide 🙄

I'm just home from my parents. Took a detour to Tesco to return something for my mum and spotted these on the shelves...

Ooh, I may have to wander to one of the big supermarkets tomorrow, Crazy.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. DH has had a lovely day, though is a little sad he can no longer say he's 'mid-thirties' Grin He's been milking that for a few years...

FireflyGirl · 16/09/2021 22:17

Actually - I've just realised I can get it for half price ordering through TCB and Hearst! Means I have to wait a bit longer, but I'll manage!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2021 22:28

That's what I did, Firefly! I don't need to rush. 😁

🎉 99 🎉

Crazy I went on yesterday and it was definitely titled homework week one. Not impressed.

It felt really chilly this morning and was foggy. Yuck. Not sure how I'll keep this up once it's frozen in the morning. Getting food shop delivered today as Goodwood is on and it's not worth battling with hours of traffic. Hooray for Friday!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/09/2021 07:36

Morning!

It still sounds like she put too many questions up though, even if it was labelled correctly. It also sounds like she may not back down if questioned. Such a good trait in a teacher. Not!

The sky is lovely and blue this morning. We don't get the sun in the garden until much later now it's lower though. The washing should still dry, mind you, as there's a breeze.

I'm on TGIF too. Crap week in the main (other than a good result yesterday!).

We usually get ds the new football shirt for his birthday. Nowhere ever does discounts on them but I can use my nhs one online at sports direct however they charge £4.99 delivery. It's so expensive and I don't want to pay it. I think I'd rather pay more from somewhere else because it annoys me so much!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/09/2021 07:51

Yeah. SD are robbing bastards for postage alright!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/09/2021 07:56

Ooo found an offer. Going to add it to the bargain thread.

CrazyBaubles · 17/09/2021 09:57

Morning.

Rubbish sleep last night. DH spotted a huge spider as we were going to bed so at 11pm I was shining a torch under the cabinet on the landing while he was poking under it with a duster 😂 End result was the monster scuttled out and it must have been huge because even practically blind ddog saw it and ate it.

TGIF here too. Work has been busy and stressful all week, it's effected my sleep and I just can't wait for it to be over.

DH is out this evening - first proper night out for ages. He's a bit nervous about the crowds and train but I'm sure a few beers will relax him.
I'm fully expecting him to stumble in drunk and annoy me but until then I'm planning to cwtch up with last weeks Silent Witness and finish my snowman Christmas card cross stitch.

BiddyPop · 17/09/2021 11:06

Pouring rain day here, I even have my light on for work (it's only been on in the evenings since I went back in August). I finally finished the oil lantern XSt last night (there was a LOT of single thread black outlining to do), and started a whale one (much smaller). Once that is done, and 2 more to do, I can put a backing on all 9 (1 night at the sewing machine) and I might manage to finish that project for this Christmas...maybe.
