Yeah. We're concerned about our gig as they can't use the stage if there's lightning within 3 miles! We have a back up plan in case, however.

Venomous spiders biddy? Eek indeed!

I have a small stripy spider on the outside conservatory door handle which has been there a few days now. I've named him Dave and I'm happy to leave him there, I just want to keep him outside if possible.

Puss is your conservatory like a bug collector / graveyard? We seem to collect flies in there and have spiders in every corner. I don't mind the spiders because they eat the flies but I'm forever rescuing bees and butterflies and hoovering up dead flies 🙄

Our thunderstorm warning was from 9am and runs until 9pm but the forecast has now changed with chance of rain down from 20% to 5% and it's gone from clear to cloudy.

MeredithMae · 08/09/2021 11:20

What's HGP?

Having a ponder this morning... do I make DS cycle to school on days when it's raining, or do I take him in and pick him up? I'm not working at the moment so can take him, but DW thinks he should take himself.

WreckTangled · 08/09/2021 11:27

Weirdly it's not sticky now, I guess it's dried?

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/09/2021 12:04

Meredith it's the Holiday Grand Plan. A (possibly US) schedule for getting your house prepared for the festive season. Each area is assigned a week and there are checklists to work through. You can Google for the checklists - some will be relevant to your home and some won't.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 08/09/2021 13:03

Crazy The advantage of having cats...She will eat flies and kill spiders.😻😹 He will play with them then get bored and walk away. We only rarely get butterflies or bees in there, and they get escorted outside. Smile
I must remember to do some watering later, just to make sure it rains. Hmm

I like needing a week to sort your porch out. Mine's a square which just fits the front door into it in! 🤣🤣

Ooh...I think I downloaded the HGP a few years ago. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Just been to pick up DH's skip car from the garage, I decided to walk because it's a nice day. A 15 minute walk up hill later and I was a beetroot red sweaty mess.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/09/2021 13:37

My porch is currently like the Forth Road Bridge - the spider is back. I could clean it one day and be back to square one about an hour later.

WreckTangled · 08/09/2021 13:50

I just bought advent calendars BlushGrin I saw on fb that candy kittens are doing one this year and dd loves them. I got both dc the same to save arguments and they do a blue light discount.

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/09/2021 13:54

Is it the tree one Wreck? I bought that for one of my great-nephews instead of a Christmas present last year. He constructed it with his dad at the end of November and loved it so much that I got him another this year. He's allergic to dairy so it's perfect for him. Not cheap but he's worth it.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2021 13:57

Ooh, it's a pleasant 22° in our north-facing dining room. Anyone fancy coming round for a drinking session?

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2021 13:59

Ooh, Candy Kittens?! Wonder if the kids fancy a change from Moo Free? I'll have to tap @whydoesitalwayshappentome up for her Blue Light discount!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2021 14:01

Or not! We decant into a fabric calendar so no point paying for a fancy-design one!

Candy Kittens Advent Tree There you go Fluffy

This is my view at the moment. Idyllic apart from the building site noise and NDN doing some intermittent DIY

Yes it is. I didn't realise they had it in previous years, I'm pleased your great nephew liked it, ds doesn't really like chocolate and dd loves candy kittens so it's a win win. Also something a bit different.

I'm watching Pointless, so I googled Vervet Monkey.
It has blue testicles.
🙈

Interesting point in the conversation to interject myself Grin

It's been scorching hot here as well - 26-27!! Glad I'm not the only one who wonders of the BBC find out the weather forecast and then just publish the opposite!

Met office has thunderstorms just in time for the school run tomorrow (of course 🙄), where the BBC just has rain 10-2, and then thunderstorms on Friday (also at school run time). How can they have such different forecasts??

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2021 19:04

Especially as they get the same sodding data! Baffling.

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 08/09/2021 19:38

No thunderstorm here yet but I can feel it brewing. It's grey, dark, cloudy but warm and humid. We had a burst of heavy rain earlier but it was over within 5 minutes.
Sounds weird but I can feel it in my head - something to do with the air pressure I think. Weather like this always gives me a headache 🙄

I'm just going through the HGP. I don't have a printer but it also doesn't all apply so I'm just making notes on which areas to do each week, then I'll adapt it to suit me 😇

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/09/2021 19:43

Xmas Grin Firefly its gone from Candy Kitten Advent trees and genteel Yankee Candle lamps'n'yarn to BlueBalledPrimates

No Grand Plan here , I'm just hoping DH gets on with decorating our bedroon, the wallpaper is off now . It's like waking up in a derelict house Xmas Shock

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2021 19:45

Crazy, it's starting to smell of rain here, but dry for now. It's set to start at about 1am, I think. We're hoping to get a load of washing almost-dry before bed.
