Morning!

I was woken by something loud driving past the house about an hour ago (sounded like driving on a flat tyre) and can't get back to sleep. It made me jump, so my heart was pounding for a bit and now period pain is prolonging it. DH slept through it. Obvs.

It's meant to be hot today. We shall see!

Morning.
Living room is 22 and Conservatory is 19 already, and it's a bit misty.
DH has been snoring most of the night...I might move to the back bedroom tonight.
Constantly I hope she enjoyed her first day.

WreckTangled · 07/09/2021 06:49

Morning. Going to be 30° here. I've got a meeting 9:30-3 Hmm

Dd is struggling a bit, she's been put in a different year half to her friends Sad I feel really sad for her.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 07/09/2021 07:03

Morning all, meant to be hot here today also. Was planning to get the house back in order after the holidays but will see how hot it is, I struggle to motivate myself when hot.

I love Christmas cards.

My freezer is currently pretty empty as I am trying to run food down ready to move. Looking forward to stocking back up when we move.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 07:39

Our downstairs is just over 20° and the upstairs just over 22°. It's still chilly at night though, as the greenhouse is at about 10° overnight.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/09/2021 08:09

24° in our sitting room, much warmer upstairs though.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 08:23

Our front room will increase later as it's south-facing. As the sun is lower now, it just takes longer to get going!

I work in our bedroom (also south-facing) so may cook later!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 07/09/2021 08:40

Ours is the opposite, our back garden is East facing and front West so the sun is in the kitchen and our room all morning then the sitting room and dc's room from mid afternoon, gets really hot. I'm just outside having a coffee in shorts and a vest top Grin

Shimmerandsparkles · 07/09/2021 09:40

We are south east facing and I'm in the kitchen working, thankfully we have slate type tiles (which I usually don't like!) So it never gets too hot in here. Does mean that when you walk out the doors you get that just off a plane feeling!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 09:42

Oh. My favourite baking chocolate is on offer in Sainsbury's. I stocked up! 🤣🤣

We're meant to get up to 28° here today. I'm going to melt.

The back of our house/ garden is south facing so the conservatory will be unusable but everywhere else should be fine. Luckily I still have the fans in place in the living room, spare room/office and our bedroom.
Hay fever is also already killing me 🤧
I'm definitely camera-off for my meetings as my eyes are red and puffy.

Morning all,
Mad summer in the end, and work is still mad but I am working on clawing back some personal time. DD is being a hormonal, stroppy, aspie, b*itchy teen so I am just ducking for cover and hoping it will settle in a week or 2 now school is back. DH has managed to get a new job (yay!) so changes that in early November, but the stress of work and DD has got to him big-time over the summer and his medical exam for the job resulted in him needing a 24 hour BP monitor this week...but results seem ok.

I like the chocolate stash Fluffy, i grabbed a few extra bars of mine on special this week also.

I have done very little shopping or crafting yet - but in clearing various corners over the summer, I seem to have a large number of items for regifting, or that I had bought previously and forgotten to give when they were hidden away.

And I am ticking off various deep cleaning and maintenance jobs, so my HGP is started, but with ticks on lots of different weeks rather than having finished the garden jobs last week, or majorly worked on the living room yet.

DDog is also making a mess as DH delayed booking the vet visit just a bit too long, so he is in charge of the resulting washing [grr]. (I had said when I gave up the fight that she is DH and DD's responsibility, I was allowing her arrival to happen but she's their dog).

I'm going to go for a swim at lunchtime while the weather is still nice and the kids are in school. It was very choppy on Sunday and not very nice to actually swim - but I really need to work on regaining fitness. We are going back to the office PT though in a couple of weeks, so I will be doing more walking and stairs then too.

Actually, speaking of work, I'd better get back to it...

pussycatlickinglollyices · 07/09/2021 13:19

Front (Living room and our Bedroom face east, back bedrooms (inc office) Kitchen and Conservatory face west.
24.4 here (living room) and 29.5 in the conservatory. There's no lovely breeze. 😿
Highest the cons has been is 49.5. 🥵🥵🥵 It was locked up as I'd been out all day and nearly melted in an overheating car thanks, Dad on the way home.
fluffy did you leave any or just scoop the shelf?
I wanted eggs, but someone was unwell in the aisle so the staff had closed it off.

Biddy nice to see you back on the thread. Glad your DH is ok. Stress can cause all sorts of issues. Try to keep him off the BP💊 for as long as you both can. 🌷

MeredithMae · 07/09/2021 17:13

Oh biddy I'm jealous of your swim! I've been absolutely melting today.

Went for a wander around The Range at their Halloween collection today. They haven't put the Christmas bits out yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 17:47

I've not been outside yet as I didn't get a lunch break. One of my buddies needed a rant, so we did that instead!

It's been 23° in the bedroom, so not so bad. The kids are going to school in PE kit tomorrow as it's so hot in there!

I had 5 bars delivered, Puss. I did already have a fair few. It's extra dark, so perfect for the kids.

Not good to be unwell in the supermarket. Hopefully they're OK.

I'd forgotten about HGP, Biddy. I reckon I'll fail at it this year! Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/09/2021 18:51

I am way ahead in the HGP but only because of my DDs moving out = gutting their rooms and redecorating and last week's family gathering meaning that everywhere was cleaned to within an inch of its life. The challenge will be keeping on top of it for the next 16 or so weeks.

I also seem to have managed a head start on Halloween decorating! We mostly use the side door as it opens onto the drive. As a result the front door is mainly used for visitors (few and far between) and deliveries (fewer since the DDs moved out). I've got an open porch and this morning found it completely covered by a giant spiders web complete with giant spider sat in the middle.

WreckTangled · 07/09/2021 18:52

Dds school have just declared it a 'no blazer week' must be hot Grin We had the same rule when I was at secondary school.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 18:59

We were allowed to take our ties off when it was hot usually at 2pm on the 5th day of a 5 day heatwave.

We did sort and clean our bedroom recently, so I'm ahead there, Woolly! And I clean all visible skirting every week. I'll blitz the house when I finish for Christmas as the kids don't finish until 22nd, so I've 2 days off without them!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 07/09/2021 19:02

I'm failing already Fluffy!

We had the door to the living room from the hallway moved while we were away, and I am still cleaning up dust nearly a week later!

It was originally one long room, with the entry door 1/3 of the way along. We knocked through into the kitchen to make an 'L' shape open plan downstairs, which has worked well, but the placement of the door didn't. It's taken me nearly 8 years to decide what to do, but it's been moved more into the middle now, so there's room to get the couch on one side to make a living area, and then I've planned out banquette seating for the other side. That'll be after half term, though, when DD starts at nursery and I'll have a few hours to myself a couple of days a week to build it!

We've got the air con unit going in our bedroom where DD sleeps to try make it more comfortable. DS came out of school and asked me if we can have snow tomorrow Grin

FireflyGirl · 07/09/2021 19:07

That's late, Fluffy! Schools finish on Friday 17th here, and then DS finishes on the Thursday as his school have a teacher training day on the Friday!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2021 19:16

I know. The kids are not impressed! Might be 21st, actually. The Tuesday, anyway!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/09/2021 19:24

My car temp was showing 31c

I finished early today (took some A/L) and utilised DS in taking some bags to the charity shop then bought him a McD meal ( he is easily bought Xmas Grin )

I'm on Advent Calendar watch now for DDs Beauty AC . I have the Holland&Barrett one on watch , I think I'll get it delivered when its out , it is heavy . I think maybe half of the things will suit her (and the rest for me Xmas Grin )

Cherish the giant spiders Woolly we keep finding pesky flies when we open the door , followed by the cats who want to catch them.
Though I walked into a huge web on the washing airer.....I did well not to scream like a girl !

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/09/2021 19:45

Enjoy those days Fluffy. Tuesday is indeed the 21st. Everyone here breaks up during the week before so we have at least a whole week before Christmas to entertain ourselves.

DH needed to get at the pots in the porch 70 so he very carefully moved the spider - web and all - to the hedge in front of the house.

Fluffy my chillis are still green. Will they ripen before the frost comes?

FireflyGirl · 07/09/2021 19:48

I'm not bothered by bugs, even spiders, but I scratched my head the other day and found a shield bug in my hair. I threw it on the floor and did a little dance - mostly because I just wasn't expecting it!

Think I frightened it as well - I put it on the chair outside and it sat there for about 10 minutes before disappearing, probably to get over the shock of being manhandled! Grin

WreckTangled · 07/09/2021 19:49

I had a ladybird land on my head today. I really don't like them.
