Here we go. Couldn't think of a witty thread title. Soz!

It's boiling here. 24°. I love the sun and heat so much but come September I want autumn!

I've got my food shop coming in a bit and bought two tubs of chocolates. Will hide them in the cupboard so dh doesn't see...!

WreckTangled · 05/09/2021 14:26

26° now. Annoying sub from Tesco... pack of 5 slices of ham substituted for a pack of two thick cut slices. Tasty but definitely won't last! I sent those back. And I ordered cartons of juice that didn't come and aren't on the receipt...

CrazyBaubles · 05/09/2021 15:08

Annoying sub Wreck

It's very warm here too - 23° I think, with forecast of getting up to 27° over the next few days. I am not impressed tbh. I've already cleared my wash basket so was looking forward to cooler weather.

Fluffy schools definitely know when the photographer is coming - DH always makes sure he looks smart for photo day.

I have a headache which I think is from my broken sleep. Not sure why but I woke up at 2, 4 and 6am, for around 45mins each time.

Babysitting yesterday went well. We went to the park, had ice cream, more playing in the park, fed ducks (and got hissed at by geese) before coming home for sandwhiches and Frozen (she insisted DH sang along with which was very entertaining - who knew he knew most of the words to Let it Go and Do You want to Build a Snowman 😂)

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2021 16:12

Crazy, I have a headache too. I think over-exertion in the sunshine prior to eating. It hasn't buggered off after food though. Or after drinking loads and taking painkillers. Bugger.

My ears hurt too, actually. Not sure what that's about! 🤷‍♀️

I have cleaned the kitchen (etc) after making raspberry jam with the raspberries from the allotment. The blackberries and bramley apples were converted into crumble by DH!

I'm going to iron uniform before dinner, so I can just sit and cross stitch afterwards!

It claims it's 22° here, but it feels warmer. We've not been in the car to see what it says!

All primary teachers need to know the words to Frozen songs, Crazy. It's the law. Or something. 🤣

I hate silly subs like that, Wreck. The peril of online shopping.

Hope your headache passes quick @NoWordForFluffy, and your daughter heals soon, @FireflyGirl!

Nice lazy Sunday here. Been out bug hunting with DS which was very dull but he's happy.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/09/2021 19:09

Fluffy tmi alert...I had a head ache (mainly eyes/front iyswim) and earache a couple of days ago...it was followed by many trips to the loo. Just make sure Mr Andrex is well stocked. 🧊

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2021 19:28

Oh. That doesn't bode well. 😭😭

Ahhh I just posted on the bargains thread by accident ConfusedGrin

I've been on holiday so just catching up. How is everyone? We bought a little Christmas dec from a NT place whilst we were away, couldn't resist!

Hi all,

Busy Weekend here and I'm looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow. Our guests are going home, DD will be at school and DH is working. It's going to be bliss having a coffee in the quiet!

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/09/2021 22:25

Sounds good lachy. I had lots of visitors last weekend and it was blissful on Monday, drinking a cup of tea in a quiet house.

Rock and roll here today. I did a load of laundry this morning including getting back on the dreaded school uniform treadmill, plus I defrosted two of my freezers - I'm going to do the other one tomorrow.

MeredithMae · 05/09/2021 22:36

Super tired but too wound up to sleep, both dogs randomly weed on our bed for no reason tonight 😡 first the puppy, so we stripped and remade entire bed, then the 18 month old!! 🤬

Need to finish my book tomorrow as it’s (zoom) book club in the evening, so have decided I’ll go to Starbucks for a cuppa and some fruit toast in the morning.

Oh and hello heatwave… where’s my autumn gone

Shimmerandsparkles · 05/09/2021 23:48

Three freezers Woolly I'm impressed!

Morning!

A slightly gloomy start today...it gets hot tomorrow, apparently! We shall see. Pretty standard Indian Summer though, isn't it? Definitely not unusual.

I have 3 days in work this week, then I'm off for my Glasgow / Biffy trip! I have 7 days of leave left. I want to take 5 in the week before Christmas so I have 2 left. I just don't know when to take them. I shall have to think. 🤔🤔

3 freezers isn't unusual on this thread. A few of us have multiple freezers! Xmas Grin Ours are filled with stuff from the allotment (I had to donate my runner beans to the food bank yesterday as we've no room for them)!

I agree fluffy. I moan about it every year. It's September, I want autumn but it's still summer Grin it's bright and sunny here, was misty first thing, lovely sunrise though.

CrazyBaubles · 06/09/2021 08:30

Morning 🥱

Now you mention it Fluffy, I think I have this disappointed feeling at the start of September every year because once DH starts back to work I want it to be cold and Christmassy and it never is.
Also, I asked DH how he knew the words to the songs in Frozen - apparently they've been sang at him and around him that often in school he just knows them. He also told me (and sounded proud) that he knows songs from Moana too 😂

Was rock & roll here yesterday too Woolly - between us we cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, downstairs loo, hoovered and mopped then DH ironed his clothes for the week while I cross stitched 🤘🏼

We have 2 freezers. One has veg, fruit, lollies and a few bits like waffles, pakora, scampi and meat in and the other has stuff we've batch cooked like soups, chilli, curry etc.

Does anyone use whistlefish for cards? I saw it recommended on a Christmas thread yesterday and the cards look lovely. Are they any good?

WreckTangled · 06/09/2021 09:38

I've just ordered some Christmas cushion covers from Shein. Cheap and cheerful!

CrazyBaubles · 06/09/2021 10:03

Ooh do you have pics Wreck?

Shimmerandsparkles · 06/09/2021 10:06

I'm going to shock you all here but I only just got a freezer at all! It only has frozen fruit in it and some peas, I need help Grin

WreckTangled · 06/09/2021 10:15

Yes! They had so many to choose from but I went with these.

CrazyBaubles · 06/09/2021 10:40

How have you managed without a freezer until now? 😱

Are they really only £2 Wreck? What a bargain! Have you bought from Shein before? You'll have to report back on the quality etc because they're lovely Xmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2021 10:43

They're lovely, Wreck! I have 4 cushions in my wardrobe which come out each year. One is made of my kids' baby - Christmas - clothes! ❤️❤️

Told you Frozen was related to primary teaching, Crazy! 😂😂

Shimmer, no freezer?! 😱😱😱😱 How come?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 06/09/2021 10:48

Yes £2 each, it's just the covers. I've bought from there before, it's primark quality really so perfect for something that's only out a few weeks of the year. And for someone who is poor Grin

Fluffy that's such a lovely idea!

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/09/2021 11:39

They are lovely Wreck. Yours sound fantastic too Fluffy - a cushion made from festive outfits sounds adorable. I've got ones I bought in The Range a few years ago when they were reduced to silly money after Christmas.

I bought my Christmas cards from cardsforcharity when they were reduced after last Christmas. DH lectured me about being tight and not paying full price for charity cards 😂 I'd got into the habit of just sending a few cards each year and was trying to cut it down further but then the pandemic hit and I ended up sending a fair few last year and I think I'm going to continue. It was nice receiving them.

MeredithMae · 06/09/2021 14:33

I sent cards last Christmas too for the first time in years. I got TONS (because I was in hospital) and I loved them all!

However.. I generally hate doing them so haven't decided about this year yet. Tempted to get a Christmas photo of the dogs and make my own!

lachy · 06/09/2021 15:23

I like sending cards, Its always been something I've done over a weekend in early November. I do tend to buy them in the January sales though, apart from a fee special ones
