Hi,
Due to Brexit things are a bit trickier with ordering online from UK. Not like the good old days!
Thought it a good idea to start one so we don't clog up the other thread with what can and can't be delivered to ROI and what deals we can avail of.
If anyone has any deals they spot in ROI either.

Currently adidas have 35% off if you have Revolut. I ordered bits and it worked perfectly. Free delivery also which also makes me happy!

Has anyone seen Christmas jumpers yet?

TKRedLemonade · 09/10/2021 08:44

Picked up one for 4yr old in pennys a few weeks ago.

whatwillicallmyself · 09/10/2021 10:21

Hi just wondering where you all thought the best santa experience was ?

DDMAC · 09/10/2021 10:47

Our favourite has always been Rathwood.

I don’t know what we’ll do this year, this is probably ds’s last Santa Christmas, he says he’ll go but only if we have little kids with us as he feels a bit silly going at his age. So I’m hoping we can go down to cousins or something because I don’t want to miss his last one. (He probably knows already!)

On lego official site they are free delivery over €55 to Ireland and also they have offer on now if you spend 40euro you get a mini set free.
There is a lego friends set or a skater guy with car. Just need to input the code when purchasing.
I haven't gone through with a purchase yet as I'm hanging on in the hope somewhere has offers on lego because ds wants the Duel star star wars set Shock. I know he will get use of it but still 100 euro Hmm

There is also a vip sign up for free where you collect points on purchases and then you can use those as vouchers. Might be good for someone doing a big lego shop!

@whatwillicallmyself we loved Causey Park. We went after dark when it was all twinkly lights and magical - I’m not sure how well it would hold up during the day.

A much cheaper option is the Santa in Stephens Green - no bells or whistles but Santa (Dan Young) himself is amazing. He looks the part and always manages to say exactly the right thing. My two had stopped believing but each thought the other still believed and were playing along for each other’s sake. He didn’t do a naughty/nice spiel but spoke about the spirit of Christmas being made up of all the little kind moments we have and challenged them to be the bigger person in an argument etc. He just hit the right note for them. It’s very hard to believe he’s not Santa!

hello there,
I'm a first time poster, so please give me a fools pardon, if I overstep in any way...
I'm trying to replace a candle that sits inside a Newbridge silver Christmas tree holder
can anyone point me in the right direction
its a red pillar candle
4 inches height
base just short of 3 inches
yes I was an a* star maths student

ShoppingBasket · 09/10/2021 18:25

@doodles55 did you try IKEA? They usually have different sizes. I think they have a set of 5 candles.

Thanks guys will look at both Rathwood and Causey, yes I heard the Santa in Stephens Green was fab, ooh decisions decisions.

Carrie76 · 09/10/2021 20:45

I usually get stocking fillers from typo, love their stuff. Don’t think it’ll be possible this year due to brexit and customs Sad. Can anyone recommend a good alternative?

Row1n · 09/10/2021 21:01

Is that the santa in Stephen's Green shopping centre? Im guessing you need to book online? We'll be in Dublin for an xmas visit and he sounds fab - is it the same man every year? We've booked into Johnstone Santa Express but there's no santa visit this year due to covid so wondering if we need to do santa as well 🤔
Sorry for all the questions!

thelegohooverer · 10/10/2021 06:49

@Row1n I wasn’t there last year (not sure if Santa was either) and I don’t think you could book online when I was there last. But that might have changed since covid. It’s probably best to ring and check what they’re doing and if it’s the same Santa (Dan Young)

thelegohooverer · 10/10/2021 06:57

@Carrie76 I can’t think of anything that compares to Typo Sad. I’ll be using Tiger and Søstrene Grene for stockings. Dealz had a rude range of gifts last year if you’re looking for something a bit cheekier.

ShoppingBasket · 10/10/2021 07:46

Asos has some typo bits.
I was in tiger yesterday and they had some good little bits. They had some things down to a euro.

Back to lego site, they have double vip points for next few days so I have ordered one set and will redeem the 10 euro voucher of the next set once it is applied to my account. Every bit helps!

Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to dispute a customs charge? I paid up this time because I just don’t have the bandwidth right now to start making phone calls. And is there any option to pay without going through An Post and having to pay their fee on top?

You'll have to pay it to get the said item then try claim it back afterwards. There will be an email address/details on the package and you can go from there. They will want evidence of payment & the item etc & how you've been wrongly charged. I've had it myself with kids clothing. It usually takes about a month then they send you out a cheque.
Row1n · 13/10/2021 17:29

@thelegohooverer thanks for the advice about Santa!

Does anyone know where you can get reasonably priced rubber stamps of things like holly and other christmassy things?

Carrie76 · 13/10/2021 17:57

15% off mint velvet with code WINTER15

thelegohooverer · 13/10/2021 23:21

@CrackerGal thanks.

thelegohooverer · 13/10/2021 23:42

@Row1n

I’m not sure about holly specifically but ya ke a look at killusty crafts and Downland crafts. Downland also have some stamps as gaeilge

ShoppingBasket · 14/10/2021 05:57

The range usually has art and craft things and card making upstairs might be worth trying there.

Ah brill, thanks!

Carrie76 · 15/10/2021 23:28

So I bought a snoodie from penny’s and then ordered a fleece poncho (same thing) from next. I can report back that the next one is way better quality and much softer. I got the Next 7-10 and it says for height up to 140cm hope that helps anyone looking to buy one. I also bought a dunnes one a few months ago which I will be gifting to my nephew, not nearly as snuggly as Next one!

ShoppingBasket · 15/10/2021 23:52

Ah I thought that myself when I looked at the marvel snoodie, I wasn't overly keen on it and they are MASSIVE. I love my Dunnes one from last year so I am definitely going to have a look at Next one, thanks!

Tipperary Crystal have a sale on, there are some nice gifty bits reduced, handbags and wallets.
