Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

Reastie · 16/08/2021 18:53

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

@Theimpossiblegirl

There seem to be a lot of 3.99 deals on Amazon. Very suspicious. But are Amazon accounts that hackable? I just went on and couldn't even access my own details without phone verification. I'm going to sign out of all devices and change passwords to be safe.
Just changed mine as well for peace of mind, I didn’t order as was concerned about taxes etc as seemed too good to be true.
Theimpossiblegirl · 20/08/2021 12:01

Do you think the happy nappers might be scams too?

Someone just sent me a link to a 3.99 tower fan so I've warned them.

Chocolateemergency · 20/08/2021 12:06
@Chocolateemergency how if its bought through amazon?
I don’t know tbh, just thought I’d relay what others are saying.

Smile3 · 20/08/2021 12:08

Yeah amazon have cancelled the order and are sending info off to higher places....said the amazon accounts are safe "rest assure" so i think so long as it's not sold by other sellers we should be safe with the bargains.

StarfishSleeper · 20/08/2021 12:09

I just cancelled mine and changed amazon password... No worries Blahblah... Would have been awesome if real!!!!

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/08/2021 12:15

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah

Really sorry about that 😕
Don't worry, I didn't really need an airfryer and have no clue who I would have given it to. Grin
Polkabott · 20/08/2021 12:21

If you find a bargain linked from elsewhere then just make sure to search yourself rather than log in and purchase from the link.

fourquenelles · 20/08/2021 12:35

Thank you reastie for these threads. Thank you posters also for the links to Oliver Bonas and Mountain Wstehouse.

I still do my grown up DD a stocking and they have been getting more sophisticated year on year thanks to these threads. Who wouldn't be delighted with £250 worth of lovely stuff for £60! Now for the Lisa Angel sale............

I've done the same as you, I haven't cancelled the order will just report as not received later on. I have to use phone verification anyway so not that worried about hacking.
QOD · 20/08/2021 13:00

oh god i had forgotten about the hampers - what was that all about in the end? DId we decide it was money laundering?

Marvel23 · 20/08/2021 13:04

Apparently the scam with the air fryer is that they send a cheap random item and the return postage is too much for people to bother with so they dont then have to refund. Your amazon account is not compromised.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 20/08/2021 13:10

It's really wierd as it been reported in loads of newspapers online as an amazon price drop

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 20/08/2021 13:15

Going to do the same as you @hiredandsqueak!

Shufflebumnessie · 20/08/2021 13:15

@MrsCrimbo74 thank you so much for the link to the personalised reindeer place holders. The 8 I ordered (for less than £10 with postage) a few days ago arrived this morning, beautifully packaged and they are gorgeous! Can't wait to put them on the table this Christmas.

UrbanMage · 20/08/2021 13:16

Need to catch up with the thread, which I will do with a brew this avo as I'm child free for the first time in forever!

If you are looking for nice handmade soaps I've just done an order with this lovely human on Etsy and the package came super quick, was well packaged and a total bargain! (Well I think so!) I got two of the £7.99 sets and I think it came with about 10 soaps altogether. They smell amazing!

Junobug · 20/08/2021 13:25

My reindeer place settings have arrived as well! They are beautiful. I can't believe they were so cheap.

CharlieWeasley · 20/08/2021 13:26

Anyone know anything about Dock&Bay, or other similar towels? I know they usually have good offers nearer to Christmas so not massively urgent, but I dont know what they're actually like to use!

Thanks for the threads. I'm still on maternity leave with my thread baby from last year so trying to resist bargains until I go back to work in September. Then said thread baby will be 1 in Nov and DDs birthday in is dec so will definitely need all of the bargains!

Shufflebumnessie · 20/08/2021 13:28

@GirlWithTheYellowHat have you looked at Dock and Bay? I've not bought from the personally but I believe they have a good reputation.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 20/08/2021 13:42

We have dock and bay hair wraps. They are not soft and fluffy towels, quite thin and hard but we like the stripes Grin I wouldn’t say they are luxury but they dry quickly.

Shufflebumnessie · 20/08/2021 13:43

@Room4onemore I bought a pack of Bluey figures from The Entertainer (in store) and ordered the car/dad from Smyths (online).
Amazon had some but there was a few weeks wait for delivery.
We walked past Hamley's a couple of weeks ago. They had a huge Bluey window display but had sold out of everything apart from the puzzles. They may have some online.
I'd buy sooner rather than later as I think they'll be very popular this Christmas.

Thanks from me too - mine have arrived and they are perfect!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/08/2021 13:52

I think I'll pop into The Entertainer for Bluey soft toys as you can't choose which one you get (20cm plush version) online and I want a Bluey and a Bingo. You'd hope they'd use common sense when you order 2 online, but who knows?!

Gracesquirrel · 20/08/2021 13:54

@MrsCrimbo74 and me too I'm even more pleased because when I ordered the prancing reindeer only had 3 left in stock so I ordered 3 of a different style as well, however I emailed them the next day to ask if they did have any more of the prancing ones left so I could have a set all the same and they came back straight away and said that was fine and indeed 6 prancing reindeer have arrived and look fab!
