Thread 2 - the one with the return of the buns

Reastie · 16/08/2021 18:53

@jumpingintosummer thanks for the inspiration for the thread title, I’m now singing ‘return of the buns’ to the tune of ‘return of the Mac’

Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link or the last word next to the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here to use for if you’re posting your personal referral link to others.

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

@PinkDaydreams Playmobil seem to have 25% off every 2 or 3 months, but quite randomly. There is bound to be another one before Advent.

Room4onemore · 19/08/2021 17:08

I know I’m not going to get these with a discount but has anybody seen any Bluey toys? The CBeebies program

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2021 17:19

What kind of toys, @Room4onemore? A Google search brings up toys at all the usual toy retailers.

sorryiasked · 19/08/2021 17:19

@Room4onemore argos have some. Pretty sure the entertainer had a puzzle or something too

Newbie here, DD will be 6 months at Christmas and loving this thread for ideas for her and the family.

I’m sure I read somewhere about an app to keep track of what we’ve bought etc but I can’t find it now. Can anyone remember or have one the recommend. Thank you

pleasekeeptotheright · 19/08/2021 17:33

There's a Bluey magazine that might make a decent stocking filler

Just bought 2 Where’s Mickey books (DS & nephew) & 1 Where’s the Unicorn book for my niece from Amazon. At £3 each, an absolute bargain.

Shiloh139 · 19/08/2021 17:56

If anyone comes across any good offers on Pokemon cards, Dyson hairdryer and Jo Malone candles please can you let me know? Thanks in hope

cinders222 · 19/08/2021 18:23

B and M sell Bluey toys x

LikeSilver · 19/08/2021 18:28

Any particular Pokémon cards @Shiloh139? DS6 has turned me into somewhat of an expert 🤦‍♂️🤣 There are several new sets coming out in September and October that you can pre-order now.

cinders222 · 19/08/2021 18:31

Just got this playdoh set that I thought was a good deal for £7

CarolinaWeeper · 19/08/2021 18:37

@PeanutButterFalcon I don't use an app but have a google spreadsheet that I keep a list of present ideas on then list when I've bought an item and how much it cost so I can keep a running total of what I've spent. I've been using that method for years and it works well, plus as it's in my Google Drive I can access on my phone when out and about if I spot anything.

sparkypupp · 19/08/2021 18:40

@PeanutButterFalcon I use the Manage Christmas app.

WisestIsShe · 19/08/2021 18:42

@PeanutButterFalcon I'm on Android and user Gift List. Super easy to use and password protected.

Shiloh139 · 19/08/2021 18:50

@LikeSilver Gosh, I've got no idea. DS (8) is not mad into them but does periodically ask for more cards so I'd bet he doesn't know either! Is it better value/cheaper to pre-order?

Shiloh139 · 19/08/2021 18:53

@PeanutButterFalcon I think the original app mentioned was Santa's Sack or Santa's Gift List but I don't think it has password protection. I bought Christmas List for £2.49 a couple of nights ago, only because their free version didn't give password protection. There may well be options out there that give the protection for free.

LikeSilver · 19/08/2021 19:06

@Shiloh139 Not really - there doesn’t seem to be such a thing as good value when buying Pokémon cards 😭🤣 It’s more that if you wanted a specific newer set pre-ordering is a good idea as they sell out so quickly. If your DS isn’t fussed about collecting I’d just buy a Pokémon card bundle on eBay.
