Starting a fresh for 2021, so if anyone has any specific links they’d like or think would be handy to add to the list for the next thread please do let me know.

Hope you’ve all had a better year so far than last year and here’s hoping things will be at a point for a more celebratory Christmas with friends and family (and lots of bargains) this year.

Hoping aldi do their wooden toy event again as I was banking on that for Xmas/birthday presents

Wow that's a good price. I've seen this mentioned lots over the years and couldn't resist for such a good price. Not sure who for yet, however I'm already tempted to get a second!

Thankfully most Lego isn't made in China and as my children are Lego-mad, hopefully it'll be OK.

I am here type one or type two? Generally all 'diabetic' chocolate is vile and full of sweeteners that affect blood glucose just as much as sugar. Most type one's eat whatever and dose for it with insulin so I would opt to get anything you think they'd like. Some type one's (moi) and most type two's will opt for low carb versions. Anything with a high cocoa content, hotel chocolat and Montezuma's do lots of choice starting at minimum 75% cocoa. Chocologic do bars and buttons (Tesco and Morrison's) or there's a good selection here of bars made with a 'good' sweetener. If you shop at Ocado then CarbZone do some nice bars too.

@WreckTangled thanks so much for the advice! He’s a type 1 so think I’ll take a look at hotel chocolat as a starting point.

I'm still on the prowl for a paw patrol Robo dog if anyone sees one going cheap. I'm hoping to scour the charity shops in the next few months and get lucky! I reckon one will fit into DSs final advent drawer 🤞he will go crazy for it

I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve noticed a real uptick in problems with online orders in the last few months and I wondered if it would be worth putting together a few tips in the second post stickies @Reastie.

My tips are:
check out companies on trustpilot before ordering
be wary of companies that only have email/contact firms for customer services and no phone numbers or addresses (unless of course you enjoy meaningless replies from bots)
keep a list of what you’ve ordered so you can follow up if something doesn’t arrive. Sometimes it’s a numbers game where they’re betting on people not following up on missing orders.
check where things are shipped from, particularly if you need them quickly. I’ve got caught out waiting for the slow boat from China when I thought I was ordering locally.
I’ve started using Revolut to avoid putting in my main bank details (and it helps me budget)

Sorry if I’m lowering the tone! Just thought it might be worth a little brainstorm now as I know there are savvier posters than me and I’ve been very grateful in previous years when wiser posters sounded the klaxon!
