Morning!

My hayfever is still driving me mad, it has to be said. 🤧 Apparently the levels are moderate, but I'm really suffering. Sigh.

@irresistibleoverwhelm, I had a delivering nightmare too. Especially as loads of couriers don't take aerosols or liquids (they deliver them from businesses but won't deliver them for personal customers!).

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/05/2021 08:11

DD1 has known for years that she gets bad hay fever this time of year so I always have antihistamines in the house. DS took one yesterday as he had watery eyes and a stuffed up nose for a couple of days that hadn't progressed to a cold. He didn't want to take one today because he felt better

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 17/05/2021 08:20

Morning. I take a hay-fever tablet every single day and have for a couple of years, if I forget I sneeze all day. It gets worse and worse as I get older.

CrazyBaubles · 17/05/2021 08:37

Woolly that's such a typical male response 🙄 DH does it too and doesn't ever make the connection that he feels better ^because of the tablets!
^
Similar story here re hay fever. On Saturday it said levels were low but my eyes were streaming so badly they looked red raw. I think I may have some sort of allergy because I'm like it everyday unless I have an antihistamine so I take one with my meds each morning now.

Irresistible Shockat your early organisation!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2021 09:33

I take an antihistamine every day too. Sometimes two! They also help with my general hormonal itching as well. Life's a delight round these parts! 😂

CrazyBaubles · 17/05/2021 10:12

I've never made a link between hormones and itching Fluffy, is that a thing? Because I'm a very itchy person and I've always put it down to sensitive skin but my hormones are arseholes all over the shop.

I have a cross stitch question - when you do the backstitch, do you do it one square / stitch at a time or do you do it in longer lengths? I'm rubbish at it and am trying desperately not to ruin the Christmas one I'm working on that should be finished this week...

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2021 10:39

Sometimes a bit more, depending on the shape of the outline. If it's a diagonal stitch that's 2 wide and 3 up (or vice versa on the horizontal) I'd do that as one. I wouldn't normally do more than 3, even in a straight run.

I suffered massively with itching in pregnancy and peri has brought it back. I was prescribed antihistamine for it while pregnant.

Morning!

Another bright morning here. It's lovely! Still not amazingly warm, but there is promise in the air. 😁

DD finally got on her bike last night and can ride without DH holding on. I foresee nightly park trips for a while!

CrazyBaubles · 18/05/2021 08:18

Woohoo for your DD Fluffy!

Very grey, cold and miserable looking here today.
I'm not sure what happened to me yesterday, I went on a bit of a cleaning spree after work. I noticed some photo frames etc looked a bit dusty so cleaned them and then found myself pulling out furniture and cleaning behind it etc. Hormones I think! 🙄

Very exciting day here today - I will be finishing my Christmas cross stitch Xmas Grin I have a small amount of backstitch and some French knots to do (which will be fun as I haven't done them before) and it'll be complete! 🎄🎄

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/05/2021 09:33

Please post a photo when it's finished Crazy. Are you going to frame it and display it?

So exciting about learning to ride a bike Fluffy! Do you know if DD's school offer a cycling proficiency course? DS did one in year 6 and learned all about hand signals and cycling in traffic 😱

DS survived his DoE training day and has departed for his practice expedition. The lump in my throat as I saw him off to school with his giant backpack paled into insignificance when Radio 5 did a piece on it being 30 years since Helen Sharman became the first British astronaut. They said that her parents were in Russia to see her take off. Knowing that their child spent 8 days on the Mir Space Station miles above the earth does put a one night stay in a country park 30 minutes drive away into perspective 😂😂

CrazyBaubles · 18/05/2021 22:22

I'm sure your DS will be fine woolly. What he's doing is a big deal! If it helps, DSis is currently talking to local schools to organise possible places for my nephew (which is proving to be difficult due to his need for disabled access and support) and we're all (Dsis, mum and me) a bit teary about him going.

🚨🚨🚨 I finally finished the cross stitch! It's taken me almost 9 months (with a break to croxhet cheisrmas presents). I don't think I've ever been so proud Xmas Blush

I'm thinking of getting either a red or green frame and putting it in that then using it a bit like a Christmas decoration each year.
I have another Merejka kit which is very similar so at some point in about 5 years when I finally finish the next one I'll have a matching pair.

I'm having a mini cross stitch break now to crochet my niece some fingerless gloves then I'm going to start my Croeso kit and get started on some crochet projects, starting with a lap blanket for me while I WFH.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/05/2021 23:14

That's so lovely, Crazy! Bloody well done! 🎄 🎅🏻 🎄🎅🏻🎄

Woolly, I'm not sure about the cycling, I'd think there must be something though. She's never cycling on the road if I have anything to do with it!

Morning!

It's apparently our last nice day for a while; more rain to come! I did go and water some things at the allotment yesterday evening as they're too small to last between rain showers. (DH took the kids to the park for more cycling / scooting!)

Does anybody have weekend plans yet? We aren't doing much / anything really, other than having delayed hair cuts (poorly hairdresser).

CrazyBaubles · 19/05/2021 08:07

Morning!

No plans for the weekend here but we do have 2 meals out planned - one tonight at a local pub and one on Monday a little bit further away which I'm looking forward to.

I think DH is wanting to get more of the garden done on the weekend (he wants to put up a fence panel, get rid of the last bits of rubbish and finally order the shed).
I want to spend the weekend sleeping I think!

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/05/2021 09:16

Morning. Beautiful cross stitch Crazy. Get cracking on that lap blanket while the weather is still grim - the last thing you'll want to do is crochet a big blanket when if the weather warms up.

Nothing much planned for the weekend but I've got my hairdresser coming tomorrow to banish my grey roots and then I'm going out for dinner with DH tomorrow evening.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 19/05/2021 15:30

Hi folks, have been out for a cuppa and cake with a former colleague which was lovely. Then bumped into Woolly in Asda. I was impressed I recognised her with her mask on. An unexpected mini mumsnet meet up.

TheWoollybacksWife · 19/05/2021 17:07

It was lovely to see you too why - your "people in masks" recognition skills are top notch.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 19/05/2021 18:15

Hello all, I'm jumping in if you don't mind. I've name changed abit but was a frequent hog to the bargain thread last year from june and was wondering when the convos would start again Grin very happy to be back and focused on something (albeit 7 months away). I've already started shopping, the bargain thread last year literally revolutionised my approach to christmas so I will be damned if I ever pay full price for anything ever again 😂 but am definitely after some more tips to make christmas special. I have 1 and a 3yo boys, the eldest now grasping the concept of Christmas so I definitely need to up my game... So bring it on Grin

Beautiful cross stitch @CrazyBaubles I may dig out my old kit. The weather is so crap it will get me through the evenings... So depressing I'm still in my fluffy dressing gown in May, but worse... It still my maternity one Blush must stop eating like its December!!

MrsLCSofLichfield · 19/05/2021 18:34

Hello again, Christmas people. It's nice to be back. I've been on here under a previous name, now decided to have the kind of respectable username that keeps you honest Xmas Grin Having had a break I will be enjoying this board, chat and housekeeping and staying off the awful bear-pits of MN, cross my heart. Morning!

Today will mostly be spent building an ark, I think! ☔️🌧

Hello newbies, care to share your old names so we know who you are?

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/05/2021 08:15

Morning. Not raining here yet but looks like it will.

Hi to the new additions.

Still in bed but slowly thinking about getting up, a work in progress.

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 20/05/2021 10:02

@NoWordForFluffy hello Smile previous names (there's been a few for varying reasons) included SodOffCovid. You kindly sent me some of your children's Christmas pyjamas last year Smile

Great to be back with you all.

Looks like rain here too. Currently 'on' a teams meeting but bored to tears..... If the weather doesn't improve it will be another greys anatomy lunch. Come on sunshine....

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 20/05/2021 10:04

Is that a Teams meeting that could have been an email Blah? 🤣

MrsLCSofLichfield · 20/05/2021 10:38

Hi @NoWordForFluffy. I was everythingisginandroses - a better name, but I'm questioning how healthy anonymity is for me, so I've decided to go the edge of discarding it!

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 20/05/2021 10:42

@whydoesitalwayshappentome yup!
