Morning!

DS is, so far, a bit behind average. I'm sure he'll catch up at some point though, given that I'm almost 6ft and DH is just over. DD is a bit over average!

I reckon I've enough projects for about 3 years! Blush

WreckTangled · 13/05/2021 08:11

Ds is 8 and taller than many of the ear six boys I've measured this month. Neither DH or I are tall. Dd is also one of the tallest in her class. I'm sure they'll slow down soon.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/05/2021 08:32

I didn't slow down. I caught my mum up at 8 (just under 5 ft) and romped to my finishing height of 5' 11" by 13. I think boys may grow in spurts more than girls, as they keep growing for longer!

CrazyBaubles · 13/05/2021 09:04

Morning.
I've had a look at the Bothy sale. I don't need anything but I'd quite like some small Christmas card cross stitches (only for 3 people I know who would appreciate them) but most of them aren't in the sale so I'm looking at other brands. Not sure I want to spend £8-10 on each one though!

We're a very short family - I'm the taller than my mum and sister and I'm only 5'2. My dad is only 5'8 - I think eldest nephew is going to be the tallest out of us (his dad is 5'11) as he's about an inch shorter than me now and he's only 10!

Yesterday was a bit rubbish. Ddogs results came back from the lump they removed during his dental - he has localised bone cancer. No treatment options because it's in his top jaw / face and they have no idea if it's slow or fast moving so we just have to carry on as we are and watch out for loss of appetite or any indication of pain. He seems ok for now - eating everything he can, he's stopped being sick and is enjoying his walks everyday.
I'm devastated - he's 13 so I know he's old but I'm just not ready.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/05/2021 09:32

Hi folks. Grey day again here, looks like it is going to rain again as well.

My son is about 6 ft 3 and seems to be having yet another growth spurt, I was hoping he would have stopped as he is nearly 23 but clearly not. I know people with CP can grow differently to the average person though so not entirely surprised. My daughter is 5 ft 2 and she stopped growing at age 12 when her periods started.

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/05/2021 09:43

Crazy Thanks so sorry to read about your DDog

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/05/2021 10:03

Crazy. I am sorry about Ddog.

Morning!

We found a dry gap in the weather and the washing went out last night to get darked on and is almost-dry now. It's a bloody challenge to get it dry outside at the moment. ☔️ 🌧

We're going up to the Lakes tomorrow, so we're hoping it's not too wet. The forecast keeps changing, however!

We've been doing a daily snail-clearing session in the garden. Where do they all bloody come from?! We must have 100 in the green bin now. 😱 🐌 🐌

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/05/2021 09:04

Morning, it has been a problem getting washing dry here as well. It's starting to piss me off now.

Off to work later and then a long day tomorrow and I then have the week off.

CrazyBaubles · 14/05/2021 09:55

Morning, and thank you for the messages about Ddog. He seems ok for now so 🤞🏼 he stays this way for a while yet.

No chance of putting washing out here either - it drizzled non stop yesterday and it rained heavily on and off for the few days before that. It was actually so grey and miserable yesterday that I watched some rubbish Christmas film on Netflix (Christmas Land I think it was).

I'm so tired, working on 6 hours of broken sleep here 😴

Morning folks. Getting ready for work and contemplating life whilst sat on the edge of the bed drying my hair. (Which means not a lot going on at all 😄)

NoWordForFluffy · 15/05/2021 07:15

Morning!

I just succumbed to buying the cross stitch I've wanted for ages, as the 25% off at Lovecrafts made it the lowest price I've seen it. I'll get DH to reimburse me and give it as my birthday present! 😂

We're off to the Lakes today. The forecast is intermittent rain. Let's hope it's wrong!

CrazyBaubles · 15/05/2021 09:36

Morning. I'm still in bed Me and ddog are having a cwtch and DH brought me a cuppa. I'll get up soon - I have exciting plans to move some furniture around in the spare room so my desk has a better set up, general tidying then going to see my sister and the kids. I may also plant some more wildflowers as work sent me some seeds this week.

What cross stitch did you buy Fluffy? I'm having another browse now...

Also, where is everyone? The thread is very quiet at the mo....

NoWordForFluffy · 15/05/2021 09:55

We definitely won't be getting to 13 threads this year!

It's this John Clayton one, Crazy. I have 2 or 3 in my queue already! 🙈😂

NoWordForFluffy · 15/05/2021 09:56

I think I have 3: Christmas Inn, Village and Cottage!

NoWordForFluffy · 15/05/2021 10:00

I've done Christmas Church and Toy Shop! They're such lovely kits to stitch. Xmas Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/05/2021 20:05

You are making me want to start a big cross stitch project. I haven't got time!

Morning!

Another lovely morning here...set to worsen! 🙈😂

And another day of digging ahead of me!

I just did my morning snail hunt. Another 10 or so removed. Where the buggery are they all coming from?! 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌😡😡

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/05/2021 11:58

I have seen loads of snails this year Fluffy. We seem to have a herd of them in the garden at work.

CrazyBaubles · 16/05/2021 14:25

What a busy weekend. Ended up helping DH in the garden for most of the afternoon and evening yesterday - it feels never ending out there at the mo!

Not sure about snails here Fluffy but we have lots of worms 🙄

Also, you are such a bad influence! I have probably a years worth of cross stitch kits here already and wasn't planning on buying any but somehow ended up buying 4 this morning because of the offer! I got 2 Christmas cards, a horsey one that I'll give to MIL and a nice plant / cactus one for me.

Am now doing a final tidy up of downstairs before going to my parents for a late lunch.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/05/2021 14:30

Worms are fantastic. It's shows you have good soil. The more the merrier on the worm front!

Well done on your cross stitch haul. 😂🙈

CrazyBaubles · 16/05/2021 18:38

I didn't know that about worms Fluffy - my garden must be good because there are absolutely loads but we also have a few bird visitors who like them too

I feel like I need to get faster with my stitching - I'm too slow to ever get through all my kits.
Once my big Christmas one is done I'm going to try alternating between my little Croeso kit and some crocheting at the same time or I'll never get everything I want done!

Just about to leave my parents house. I'm suddenly very very tired.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 16/05/2021 23:47

I’m normally on to Christmas around August, so mid-May is a record for me! I’m hoping to see the parents for half term for the first time in ages, and I’m already thinking about taking a box of family Christmas presents up with me and leaving it there. Last year was a nightmare in terms of trying to ship boxes of stuff around the country before Christmas, so I’m thinking just in case of any more lockdowns I might get organised early (hopefully this will also prevent them happening - cosmic insurance policy 😂!)

So far I’ve got some book sets and games for the little nephews, which I had anyway; plus some fizz for various family members. The older niece and nephew will be easy as I think they’ll just want vouchers this year.

That will leave just my mum and dad, and I think I’ll ask them closer to the time. But it feels so organised to think I could have Christmas sorted so early! After last year I feel desperate to get back in control of things in small ways. Feels v odd wrapping stuff this time of year, but also a Christmas win 👍
