Fluffy the meeting went ok in the end - annoying man who I was set to argue with had (unbeknown to me) invited his boss, presumably to pressure me. Backfired nicely though because his boss was someone who promoted me (a few jobs ago now) and who likes me and the way I work.
Essentially I got everything I needed and idiot who called the meeting was on the end of some sharp words from his boss 👍🏻

I have blood donation booked in about 3 weeks I think. I really need to stay on top of it and go each time I can now I'm allowed to donate again.

puss I absolutely plan to indulge in some Christmas planning (including flicking through my magazine stash) while watching something festive online.

why if me and dsis are going to argue over anything it will be over a roast dinner because she always tries to steal my parsnip 😂

lachy First, are you ok? Do you need an MN rescue? From someone who doesn't iron clothes never mind pillowcases!

FYI, If I need rescuing I will either say I'm enjoying watching a programme on gold mining or that I'm ironing underwear / bedding 😂

Woolly what are you knitting at the mo?

Welcome Charlie. Is your dd ok?

CrazyBaubles · 03/06/2021 20:40

I'm back from the meal out.

I'm a bit annoyed because my parents are meant to be coming for tea tomorrow so DH has cleaned the house and I've bought steaks etc and today my dm said she may want to cancel because she forgot she's working until 6.
I think she realised when I spoke to her so she asked me to go to theirs instead but part of the point was to host them here because she has been complaining of not being invited here since I moved FFS.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/06/2021 21:11

lachy nothing has fallen off but sometimes I have to remove a necrotic toe (when it's dry and ready to depart )

Crazy you'll to eat the steak yourself , revell in your clean house and ignore any hints for an invitation to yours in future .

Charlie Flowers for your DD. Of course join the thread and year round Christmas chat

Charliebradbury · 03/06/2021 21:13

My dd is OK. The dr suspected meningitis but they have decided its just another viral infection. Hoping her temperature stays down and she can get some sleep tonight. What a great half term haha.

ConstantlyCooking · 03/06/2021 23:44

The front garden is now looking lovely! The summer inspection slot seems to have vanished off to bed now. Sleep well all!

Morning!

It's a glorious day today with lovely sunshine. Perfect for the allotment. The pumpkins, courgettes and sweetcorn are being put in today.

Welcome, Charlie. I'm glad your DD doesn't have anything serious. Must've been scary though while you found out. Why's DD had meningitis as a child, so she's been there.

70, you remove toes? Good stuff! 😱🤮😂

lachy · 04/06/2021 07:51

Good morning!

I am safe and well 😊 Bit dull here so far , but hope it brightens up later.

Welcome @Charliebradbury and I hope your DD is on the mend soon Flowers

CrazyBaubles · 04/06/2021 07:58

Morning.
70 you've removed a toe? 🤢 - I have a bit of a thing about feet, I can barely bring myself to touch mine. I can paint my nails and will sometimes throw some moisturiser on them if I'm feeling brave but that's it.
I almost cried when I had to see someone to sort out an ingrowing toenail. When he put his fingers between my toes I was almost sick 🤮

I've left the invite to my parents open but been clear I'm not going to them.
I have no problems cooking myself a nice steak dinner and having a peaceful evening alone!

It's sunny here too. I've taken to opening both conservatory doors when I get up around 7 and they stay that way until 9pm ish - my house feels nicely aired out.
Work today but nothing too stressful going on.
DH is doing a final clean and tidy then leaving at lunchtime.

WreckTangled · 04/06/2021 08:01

70 I see pods a few times a year, I get painful feet due to my neuromuscular condition but first accessed them due to my diabetes. They're used to seeing much older people than me Grin

I haven't really caught up, have been so busy. We've been to the beach, the cinema, a friends, taken dd to hospital appt 50 miles away, been to other friends, I've done a day at the toy shop and today is cinema again. Sunday we're going to Brighton for the night. I can't wait. The weather has been amazing and my tan is coming along nicely. Dreading work already but inset for the dc Monday so only have to go in three days next week.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2021 08:07

I'd do the same in your shoes, Crazy.

We're the same as you re opening everything wide. Though we don't leave anything open downstairs other than on vent while I'm alone upstairs. It's safer not to!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2021 08:10

I was wondering if there were any inset days down your way, Wreck. We're on inset Mon / Tues, hence our London trip Sun / Mon. I'm hoping it isn't school holiday busy in the NHM!

The kids have been given plenty of spending money by various people, so can go wild in the shop!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 04/06/2021 09:48

Morning.
I slept better last night, no fighting cats under the window for a start! I managed to sneak in the 4.5tog duvet Grin DH didn't mention being cold, so hopefully we can stay with that for a while.
Not sure I want to know more about dead toes 70

CrazyBaubles · 04/06/2021 12:15

Fluffy you're making me think twice about having the doors open downstairs now. What / who are you scared will come in?

There are no inset days anytime soon here from DHs moaning because he likes the training etc that they get.

Puss how have you coped with a thick duvet until now? I think we've been on the thin 4.5 tog since April.

On a countdown now - 4.5 hours until I finish work. Then a nice break until 7 when my parents arrive (dm said she may not come, my dad said he'd come without her and now they're both coming) 🙄

Charliebradbury · 04/06/2021 12:21

puss we have a local tom cat that fights every night. Nothing like being woken up by 2 cat screeching like they are being tortured.
We are having a lazy day today, typically my dd is feeling a bit better but I feel terrible. Lots of TV and cuddles. DH told me I should rest, I have a 6yr old and a 3 Yr old and a 6 month old puppy. I just laughed in his face. Might go to bed to rest when he gets home and he can sort out tea, bedtime etc alone.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/06/2021 13:27

We have the noisy foxes at 3am
And what I call "Synthetic Dog" ..its an alatm, goes off the same time every night , same rhythm of barking . There are no big dogs across the road and unless the houses in the next road put their dog at the end of the garden we wouldn't hear it .
But I have no idea who thinks a timed dog bark is fooling anyone . Xmas Hmm

We use a 4.5tog all year . Brushed cotton in winter/cotton in summer .

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2021 17:13

Crazy, opportunistic burglars who try door handles / pop into gardens on the off chance they can get into a house to take stuff. We don't even leave the back door open if we're all in the lounge!

I've cleaned the bathroom and kitchen (etc) this afternoon, plus popped to Sainsbury's for some bits. I'm knackered now!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2021 17:14

70, that's really weird, isn't it? I wonder whose it is?!

We were woken by a loud beeping in the house at 6 this morning. Couldn't work out what it was though! Confused

WreckTangled · 04/06/2021 17:31

I often go out and leave the back door unlocked. Sometimes I've accidentally left it wide open Grin dh has been known to leave his keys in the front door over night on more than one occasion too Hmm

CrazyBaubles · 04/06/2021 19:09

Synthetic alarm 😂 How strange 70

Fluffy in this house and the old one both had pretty secure back gardens. I always locked the front door when home alone in the old house after I came in from the back garden and found a stranger in my living room Shock

Wreck my MIL lives in the middle of the countryside with no neighbours anywhere nearby. I'm pretty sure they haven't locked a door at all in the 12-odd years they've lived there.

I ended up working on a little because I was on a roll getting things done. Should make for an easier Monday though 🤞🏼

Have walked the dog, done the jobs DH missed like the million dead flies on the conservatory window sills 🙄.
Very exciting, I received and used my new metal double edge safety razor today. Was terrified but didn't cut myself once 🥳

I'm now waiting for the parents to arrive...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/06/2021 22:26

after I came in from the back garden and found a stranger in my living room Eh? Xmas Shock Why ? Did they know someone who lived there before or were they there with intent ?

My DS gave his "nearly an armful" today , that's his good deed done .
He has spent today waving his little hairy plastered arm about and boasting about how quickly it surged from his veins .

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2021 22:32

Hot weather = speedy blood donation!

CrazyBaubles · 04/06/2021 23:03

70 He was a visitor for neighbours a few doors down, a young 20-something year old bloke.
The houses had names rather than numbers but a few had rubbish / missing signs, including ours. He apparently couldn't remember the house but knew it was the one with the 'wooden door' so let himself in.
Neighbours had replaced their door about a year earlier 🙄
I don't know which one of us was more scared to be honest. If I remember correctly I sort of gasped at him, startled him so he shouted asking who I was, I replied like a very scared / angry fishwife and sort of chased / shooed him out of the house. Then he explained who he was and who he was looking for.
Was a complete drama and made me very aware of how vulnerable I was for leaving the door unlocked, especially in that house because it had thick stone walls and was narrow but long so you wouldn't hear someone coming in if you were in the kitchen etc.

CrazyBaubles · 04/06/2021 23:06

My parents have just left. Was a nice evening, including my mum agreeing to drive so my dad and I could drink some rums and whiskeys together.

This is my first night in this house on my own - I'm suddenly very aware of the creaks / noises I hadn't really noticed until now.
Going to tuck myself into bed with Ddog and watch something relaxing before going to sleep.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/06/2021 08:11

203

Morning! Another lovely day.

Wish me luck though, as we have a fairly long drive in warm weather today. Hurrah for arguing children in a warm vehicle. 🙄

Sounds like you had a lovely evening, Crazy. Did you sleep OK?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/06/2021 08:17
