Good Luck ConstantlyDD

My DS has finished his exams now , waiting for results . I've rewarded him by booking him in to donate blood .**

** it was a DS d'you want to give blood
Not bovvered
Do something decent for humanity. I'll drive you there and buy you a McD after
Alright then

No co-ercion but he's a lazy little tripehound .

CrazyBaubles · 31/05/2021 11:11

Constantly I need to prune my mint because it's gone a bit mad (it's in a big pot but there are some stems that have grown quite far outside the pot rim). I'm looking online for guidance to make sure I don't do any damage but if you have any hints I'd be grateful.

Are things busy in a good way Neros?

I think what my mum meant was that plain trainers would just about be acceptable but my favourite pair of Vans (which are now battered and tatty) are patterned (pic). Apparently they are for teenagers only 🙄

It's another very hot day here. My washing is on the line and I've just spent a bit of time painting my nails (which I never do).
We're going to Hereford today for a meal and will stop at a garden centre on the way - I want a new watering can

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2021 11:39

Our mint is bonkers too, Crazy. I'm not sure what type it is, but the leaves are a reddish colour and it looks lovely. DS eats it from the plants! 😂

Fingers crossed re your DS' results, 70. What grade is he on course for and does he have plans for the future?

Good luck to your DD too, Constantly. Does she have plans?

I'm booked to give blood on Thursday. I'll believe it when I'm there as they keep cancelling me due to Covid yet keep new donors who they have no clue about their blood type or if they're fainters.

They then email me constantly to book when they've cancelled me as they need my blood type. 🙄 DH has never been cancelled. I've taken it personally! 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/05/2021 11:47

I've had to lure DS in with the promise of biscuits and crisps Fluffy Xmas Grin

DH is booked in Sept , I'm a no-go after my own transfusion and DD is most likely too lightweight (in bodymass and a needle-phobe)

I tell my DS that his O+ is very sought after ..

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2021 11:50

I'm O+, hence being peeved every time they cancel me!

I don't even need luring in. I'm happy to go. If they didn't keep stopping me. My last 3 have been cancelled. Thankfully there was a spare spot the second time, so I still got to go. If there hadn't been, I wouldn't have been able to give blood since last June! Through no fault of my own.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 31/05/2021 12:20

Fluffy it's a Vax I bought from QVC when on offer just after we moved in, so it's about 15/16 yrs old Shock it's one with "spin-scrubs" but word or warning, it's long even with the handle folded and takes up the same depth as the freezer it's parked next to (we keep it in the box once it's dry as there's a hose and attachments for upholstery and the stairs) half a bottle of solution did the whole house, rugs and doormats and they were properly manky bought from Sains c£15. I keep threatening to replace it, but it works perfectly well.

70 I've had a couple of mine for 10+yrs and I'm known for being clumsy, so they get washed a lot (in an "undies" bag in the machine with everything else) I've even washed an unwashable purse and it's survived Grin go on...treat yourself 😉

NDNs are on the M6 heading for Blackpool, so DH is on a wobbly ladder cleaning the front gutters...

No, I don't know why either...

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2021 12:28

Your DH sounds like he's twinned with my dad, Puss. Going up wobbly ladders was his forte until relatively recently. 🙄🙄

Your carpet cleaner has earned its keep, given its longevity.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 31/05/2021 12:40

Who prunes mint??🤯🤯🤯🤯

Make mint sauce! very very chopped mint scraped into a jam jar, sugar, v hot/just off the boil water then vinegar when cool. Keeps in the fridge until you need to make the next batch.

fluffy thing is he's 6'2" not good with heights. Unlike me, who is clambering up a ladder, but has no sense of balance once I'm at the top. Grin

ConstantlyCooking · 01/06/2021 08:44

Mint jelly- sounds like a plan pussy!
DH and I give blood regularly but haven't managed to persuade DD or DS.
Fingers crossed for your DS 70. I feel they have missed out in much of the university experience so deserve good grades! DD will be moving home in the summer as she has a job in London. We are planning our Christmas shopping trips already.

Morning! Yet another scorcher today - so I'm in the coolest room in the house working with a fan on 😂

puss apparently you're meant to prune mint to stop it getting out of control and to help new growth through so it's bushy / full. Mine was stretching out almost 30cm and would have starting taking over the next pot along (sage) soon but it was also patchy.
I snipped it to get it back under control yesterday- and made mojitos with my harvest.

Constantly is your dd a Christmas lover like you?

Back to work today and I'm already struggling with hay fever 🤧- it's going to be a long day.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/06/2021 09:30

Morning!

Gonna be scorchio today. Good job I'm working as I'm glowing somewhat from yesterday.

Started work early as we're allowed overtime this month. I won't do much, but every penny helps! 😁

Sainsbury's have been and gone. And the kids have argued at least once. Situation normal! 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 01/06/2021 09:40

That's really exciting for your DD, Constantly. Even house shares are stupidly expensive though, aren't they?

pussycatlickinglollyices · 01/06/2021 10:15

fluffy I just make tons of mint sauce and have it with Chicken and Beef dinners Grin
Mine died in over the winter, so I'll get a new one as the frozen mint supplies are down to quite alarming levels.

CrazyBaubles · 01/06/2021 14:06

🤬🤬 FFS my washing machine is broken. I've just had to hand wring a load and put it on the line but I doubt it'll dry today, even though it is boiling outside.
Granted the machine was second hand and we knew it wouldn't last forever but we've literally just spent £££ on the house and a car.
Have ordered a new one (my dad did an emergency stop here to see if it could be saved but the parts needed are more than it's probably l worth). I've never bought a new one before - always had hand me down ones.

puss my plan is to turn the leftover mint I got yesterday into mint sauce then I'm looking into possible ways to store more throughout the summer - I'm thinking turning them into mint ice cubes and throwing them into cocktails.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 01/06/2021 16:55

Crazy sorry about the machine. Could you take it round to your parents and ask for a quick rinse and spin? 😵
If you freeze the mint like that it will double up for mint sauce and cocktails Smile

pussycatlickinglollyices · 01/06/2021 16:57

Oh, that emoji had spinny eyes not crosses.

CrazyBaubles · 01/06/2021 18:28

Thanks puss. Normally I would have gone straight to my sisters or parents with the washing but they're all out today. It must be warmer than I thought though because about 75% of what I put out is dry (including a duvet cover and a towel).
Randomly DHs sports socks and the bath mat are still wet so I've left them out there for now. It's still bloody boiling 🥵

Good thinking about the mint - I'll definitely do that!

I've downloaded a plant ID app which I'm not 100% sure I trust. It told me the Bush in the garden is something that is poisonous to people and dogs if eaten. It also told me the plant I think is an aloe is a zebra plant so now I'm very confused.

Also, has anyone noticed the Christmas board getting busier? When I came to post we're a little way down the list 😱

lachy · 01/06/2021 19:58

Well it is June... Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/06/2021 20:19

The problem with that is that threads then appear in Active and people comment with "FFS it's May/June" whatever without clocking that's it's a Christmas thread in the Christmas topic.

My DDs have now moved out and I spent yesterday cleaning their rooms and packing up the bits and bobs that they left. It felt a bit sad - as if I was removing all traces of them. DS is changing rooms once we decorate and then I'm going to have 2 spare rooms - 1 with storage for my crafty bits and bobs and 1 with storage for my Christmas bits and bobs.

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/06/2021 20:21

Crazy we bought a new washer recently and got a Haier. Not a brand I'd heard of previously but it's got a good load capacity and it's pretty quiet.

CrazyBaubles · 01/06/2021 21:38

Very true lachy - it takes at least 6 months to pull off a ponce-tasting mn Christmas Xmas Grin

woolly while it’s sad your DDs have moved, maybe a craft room with some Christmas bunting / lights up all year round will help?

I posted on a Christmas thread a while ago about the perfect Christmas dinner and the first responses was ‘it’s May..?’ And not long after - ‘it is the Christmas section but FFS’ 🙄🙄

I wanted Miele machine but they are ££££ so we’ve gone for a Bosch instead.

It is still warm here. I’m sat with a fan on me, looking at crochet patterns for unicorn fingerless gloves for my nieces birthday in July.

Bloody police. 4.30am and sodding Airwolf woke me up. 🚁
God knows what they were looking for at that time, but they didn't put that much effort in when my purse was nicked from my bag, under my desk 😡
I was sewing by 5 Grin and the cats are happy as I gave them a tin of tuna to share (1/3 each as NDN cat had some too)
DH is in a grump as he's found some ants. 🤷🏻‍♀️ He wants to clean the patio/path and the conservatory roof which looks clean anyway and now he's been diverted to ant hunting. 🤦🏻‍♀️
He's got lawns to mow too 😂 but they'll keep for a couple of days.
I'm not letting him get bored!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/06/2021 07:37

Crazy I wanted a Miele too the expensive one which lights up the drum but ended up with a Hotpoint. It was 7 on Monday 🎂 😂

I'm not sure what people expect in the Christmas section...chat about summer hols, or covid?? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 02/06/2021 07:49

That Christmassy feeling that Covid gives you, eh?! Xmas Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 02/06/2021 07:50

We have a Hotpoint too, Puss. It's 6 now, has an 11kg drum and you can stop it to open the door when you find a stray item. It's ace!
