Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

I don't know how you do that job, Why. I sometimes have clients crying down the phone to me (the last was a young lad from W Yorks, so not - stereotypically - the type you'd expect to cry). I just want to hug them all!

Most, I think about you every time I do well with Nectar point harvesting! Grin We've done well this month too as the bonus points have mostly been £4-5 a week, except one week which was very disappointing. SadGrin

CrazyBaubles · 28/01/2021 10:06

Yesterday passed by in a blur of work, meetings, more work, deliveries and unpacking (spare room now has room for the actual bed to be put together) - then all of a sudden it was 10:30 and we went to bed.

puss Your Christmas conservatory looks amazing!
I'm still torn between white and coloured but edging towards coloured maybe. I'm so indecisive 😂

We're counting down your last 3 shifts with you why

Any reason you're considering home schooling Fluffy? I always wanted to be home schooled - not sure why, I also wanted to go to boarding school a la Malory Towers - but it wasn't really a thing when I was small.

most are you doing Welsh phonics?

I'm struggling for motivation tbh. On the whole things are good here with the house and work but doing the basics like cleaning up / cooking healthy meals / going for a walk are things I know will make me feel better but I have to force myself to do them.
I have a few friends who's mental health has been severely effected this time around though.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/01/2021 10:12

Crazy, partly because this Hokey Cokey is dire for their education and partly because DS really struggles with it (he's been referred for ASD assessment recently) / getting out of the house. We think the Hokey Cokey will also go on for ages.

DH and I came to the conclusion separately and then discussed it!

I wanted to go to Malory Towers too. 😂

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/01/2021 10:12

Good work on the points fluffy!

I am indeed doing Welsh phonics crazy and it is not fun Grin

I am also lacking in motivation, a lot of people are I think.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/01/2021 13:28

Crazy You could buy both sorry to be the evil voice on your shoulder and use the white in autumn/spring and the multi colour for Christmas and parties (remember them?) Xmas Grin You might need a glitter ball too...
most good luck - I watch Pobol Y Cwm with subtitles, and can manage a tiny bit of poorly spoken welsh, it's much easier to understand than speak!
Fluffy Mallory Towers, St Clares or (preferably) the Chalet School Grin all that kaffee and kuchen Wink

CrazyBaubles · 28/01/2021 13:32

Fluffy a child has been taken out of DHs school recently for the same reason. I know DH thought it was a really good idea on the basis that the child was a member of 2 clubs / teams so would still have some social interactions with other children.
Don't fancy being in charge of home schooling itself though!

I read lots of Famous Five / Malory Towers as a child and loved the idea of being away from parents so I could have adventures with my friends. My dream was a midnight feast in a dorm and I was always intrigued by them having a matron 😂

most I don't envy you. A lot of DHs family are fluent welsh speakers. I listen to them chatting sometimes and it makes my head hurt

Work is being pretty full on at the mo so I'm being kept busy, but motivation for anything other than house stuff has disappeared. I haven't even worked on my cross stitch lately - I haven't even got halfway with the Merejka Christmas one never mind starting one of the new ones (I have the Croeso one, a mini bauble, a little flowers in a vase one and a New England Homes one in a drawer) Shock

CrazyBaubles · 28/01/2021 13:35

I think DH may combust if I bought both or tried to put them up before December as they were declared 'very Christmassy' when I showed him Xmas Grin

We did have a very vague conversation about hosting Christmas this year (if it allowed) and I always mean to host a Christmas party / cocktail evening and have never got around to it before. It as can this year I'll definitely be doing that!

Am also considering if a Garland type thing (basically greenery / pine cones / berries) around the chandelier type conservatory light would be too much...?

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/01/2021 13:35

Crazy so you've one "on the go" and 4 more in a drawer...amateur Wink when you've got drawers bulging with kits, patterns, fabric and threads, that's when you get the "hair on fire"/"I'll never do all of these" Grin that and at least half a dozen waiting for the backstitch to be done I hate backstitch
Welcome to the club!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/01/2021 13:39

Crazy Order them and put them up while he's at work - I find once something is in place it's harder for any objections to be made Grin
The chandelier light sounds good, mine is a central fan type thing - but I had to take the fan blades off as Charlie is frightened of them - I think he thinks it's a bird. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 28/01/2021 14:00

Definitely go with the garland crazy!

I loved all the mallory towers, chalet school etc books as a child. Swimming pools made out of sea rocks and midnight feasts!

My cross stitch subscription box arrived this morning so that was lovely

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 28/01/2021 14:08

I loved Malory Towers as well. I was thinking of re-reading the books now but thought they might not have stood the test of time.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/01/2021 14:21

DD has the full set, so I could easily have a go!

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 28/01/2021 14:30

I had all the Chalet School books...there were dozens, and like the massive arse I am, I left them when I cleared my parents house 🤦🏻‍♀️ too much other shit going on DH was ill at the time, so it's all his fault, obvs - they'd be worth a small fortune now!😭

CrazyBaubles · 28/01/2021 14:34

When unpacking boxes I found a small box of Famous Five and Mallory Towers books so I think I'm going to give them a go at some point.
Never read the Chalet School books though.

puss the idea of having a few on the go at once stressed me out.
With crochet I tend to have a big project and a little one at the same time but that's it, otherwise I get caught up in which one to work on etc and it slows me down.

I think I'm going to stop the Merejka one soon to give me a break them do the flowers & vase one as it's little and shouldn't take too long. Then Croeso then back to the Christmas one.

most I'm working in the conservatory today and I've realised that the wall that is on the border has a little ledge before the roof starts so I'm going to Chuck a Garland up there too.
Poor DH, this is going to be my Christmas room Xmas Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/01/2021 14:34

I am still lurking around .
January isn't a favourite month for me either .

I was looking at another thread a while back How many of the Top 100 Books have you read and I have to admit very few , though most of them aren't to my taste anyway .
But I've wanted to read "The Wasp Factory" for ages so got DH to order it for me (proper book , not eBook) . It might end up on my collection of books I drag out and read a bit randomly .

My usual book choice is something lik Mary Higgins Clark which is pure non taxing escapism reading .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/01/2021 14:38

No Mallory Towers or Chalet School here but I used to love the Pullien-Thompson sisters horsey books or the "Jill" pony books Xmas Grin

They don't translate well over the years , I bought a huge omnibus of the P-T books but they'd updated a lot and it lost something . (Bought for DD when she was little but she didn't like horses anyway !)

MarshmallowManiac · 28/01/2021 15:39

Afternoon everyone. Nice & bright here and a little warmer. Feeling fed up at the moment, stuck in looking at the four walls. Not good. Can't wait for January to be over.

I see all the buds starting to blossom too when I go on a walk Most which does cheer me up. Smile Congrats on the nectar points.

MarshmallowManiac · 28/01/2021 16:35

Crazy yes agree with Stockings put them up when he's out under the guise of 'trying to cheer everyone up' it can't fail. Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 29/01/2021 08:11

Morning!

Apparently it's going to be dry today. We have trusted the forecast and have two loads of washing on the line!

And that's the extent of my news. The excitement!

WreckTangled · 29/01/2021 08:17

Morning. No work today woo hoo! I didn't even have a shower this morning, just threw on some leggings and a chunky jumper. Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/01/2021 08:37

Morning :) Friday is wellbeing day according to DS' school so no lessons, yay! Will go for a long walk to the park, read some stories and play some board games.

NerosFiddle · 29/01/2021 08:44

Morning.

I'm still in my pjs. Dc are building a massive train track and I'm sitting on my phone. I've a headache so I won't be doing too much today.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/01/2021 08:53

Morning I am still in bed. Planning on getting up soon to do the cleaning. #LivingTheDream here folks.

The sun is out currently so will put my washing machine on shortly. We had quite a few power cuts here last night so did not do a load ready for today like I usually would.

CrazyBaubles · 29/01/2021 10:41

Wreck your outfit is made for a Christmas film...

most DH quite likes the well-being stuff he's doing with his class, especially as it encourages both them and him to get outside.

Exciting stuff going on here too - I had a rubbish nights sleep and am sneezing like a bugger today 🤧
Plan is work, maybe stick the hoover around and possibly add a few more things to my 'house plans' board on Pinterest (I'm doing a mix of garden stuff for the summer and Christmas decs).

WreckTangled · 29/01/2021 11:40

Ds has completed all of his work and I've got my third load of washing on. Dd is still working but I'm sure she will be finished soon enough.

Hope you feel better crazy! That reminds me I need to do my LFD test.
