Before I nod off in a food / booze coma, here is our new thread!

We've had a lovely, chilled, day building Lego. I should probably eat more cheese to really finish the day in style though. 🧀🧀🧀

Free crate of beer?! Well done! 🍻

I love how you look out for patterns for me, Stockings! Once my eye is well on the mend I'll crack on with my Snowman one.

WreckTangled · 23/01/2021 08:22

We're forecast snow tomorrow too but I'm not hopeful.

Glad your eye seems a bit better fluffy.

I've got c&c at Tesco today. Still no strawberries and friends have said they can't get cucumbers or apples either so will see what's there. Dh said he can go after work if we need other bits, I'll have the dc with me so won't go into any shops (I think it's unnecessary when we have the option of just one of us going).

Ds seems to have a horrible cold so clearly isn't doing well at being socially distanced at school HmmGrin we also had a letter from school begging people (in a firm teacher voice) not to send in their dc unless they have to as numbers have crept up to 40% and lots of these people are wfh. I do think though that the school should have been stricter in the first place if they were going to get worried about numbers.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2021 08:53

On one of the other threads I'm on, somebody had an order from Asda with very little fruit / veg available. No idea where they are in the country.

We've done OK til now, but I do top up every time I go out to a shop to keep our levels up!

WreckTangled · 23/01/2021 10:02

I really need a shower but dd is there and probably will be for ages. So far today I've renewed my home insurance and breakdown cover. Also have cancelled my car insurance renewal so need to go ahead with the new policy which is about £200 cheaper. Such a difference I'm worried I've done something wrong.

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/01/2021 10:21

Fluffy my MIL's Asda order (Merseyside) had hardly any of the the fruit she ordered - no bananas, grapes or raspberries. I think her neighbour was going to Tesco yesterday to see if she could get her some. I get a weekly veg box and they aren't delivering this week due to self isolating issues but their products seem to be fairly well stocked under normal conditions - possibly because not much comes from overseas.

Good to hear your eye is starting to improve.

Today is a day of laundry and shopping. Off to the butcher's soon to get my meat and then I'm picking up my c&c order from Tesco after lunch. I need to do a wee bit of ironing too.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2021 10:32

Asda really seem to be struggling. Odd.

Why gets a Morrison's delivery, so can comment on their stock!

MarshmallowManiac · 23/01/2021 11:11

Morning all. Dry here this morning, but apparently we have rain & snow forecast for tomorrow and rain most of the week. Sad Want to try and have a walk if possible as fed up stuck in the house.

I know what you mean Wreck as our school is up to nearly 50%. Great result on the insurance.

I top up too Fluffy and also buy from fruit & veg shop to keep our levels up, don't think we're out of the woods yet. DH is going to Lidl later on so will report back. Glad your eye is improving.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 23/01/2021 12:53

Hi folks. I have not had any issues really, other than with Granny Smith apples with my Morrisons food deliveries Fluffy and that has only been this week.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 23/01/2021 12:54

We just had a really heavy snow flurry which has vanished as quickly as it arrived.

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 23/01/2021 13:18

Tesco had either strawberries or raspberries - they were red and caught the corner of my eye so not sure which Grin also loads of salad stuff, veg, apples and bananas.
There weren't low in stock of anything tbh.
We don't normally go on Sat, but decided to leave it Thurs and Fri. I, erm, was rather indisposed again Blush and didn't trust want DH to go alone. Grin
Been snowing on and off until 12ish, now we've blue skies and bright sun. It might clear last weeks snow of the lawn finally.
Wreck when you swap and it is soooo much cheaper you do get "the fear" that you've ballsed it up, don't worry - I'm sure it's fine.
Fluffy I quite enjoy being your personal shopper. Wink

BiddyPop · 23/01/2021 13:21

I was brain dead last night from work - slept ok thankfully, but now totally 🤪 doolally after Cubs online...we had enjoyed a good meeting last week while 1 particularly, enthusiastic shall we say, Cub had forgotten and not joined, but we're reminded of how difficult it can be to control the chaos online 🤪🤪🤪🤪😱🤣🤣🤣 is it too early for gin ?? Gin

BiddyPop · 23/01/2021 13:23

I haven't been in a shop since 30th Dec I think. But no strawberries online a couple of times since, (not delivered), and this week already warning me they're not available.

MarshmallowManiac · 23/01/2021 15:37

Very low in fruit & veg in Lidl, no courgettes, squash, grapes, raspberries, melon, and only a couple of broccoli. Sad A whole aisle nearly of apples to cover up what they haven't got I suspect. On the up side however 25% off washing liquid so I bought a couple. Also queueing up to get in which I haven't seen in a while.

WreckTangled · 23/01/2021 15:52

I forgot to even add cucumber and grapes to my shopping. Poor dh is having to go to the small Tesco after work, hopefully they have something at least.

Right I think I've done all the car/house admin now. Annoyed that my topcashback for home insurance has instantly been declined and my car one isn't even showing. Will be emailing them if it doesn't change.

Dd is baking some cakes, I got a ready made butter cream icing because she wants to do the whole thing herself and I thought that would be easier.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2021 16:02

That's weird on the home insurance, I'd definitely query that with TopCashback.

Sometimes they do take a while to appear, but instant decline is rubbish. Is it a duplicate entry? I had one insurance product where it seemingly tracked twice and the second one was declined.

WreckTangled · 23/01/2021 16:13

Definitely not a duplicate. It's one that's £20 cash back for getting home insurance via compare the market. I've submitted a claim for that one so will see what happens.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2021 16:37

Yes, mine was Compare the Market too!

Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 1): Here we go again!
WreckTangled · 23/01/2021 17:04

Oh how strange. I've definitely only got one

Countdown to Christmas 2021 (thread 1): Here we go again!
NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2021 17:08

It might change in the next few days.

Sideorderofchips · 24/01/2021 02:45

Morning all. I'm still awake because I suspect that babychips may have covid :( he's coughing, his tummy hurts and he has now spiked a temp

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 24/01/2021 06:29

Hope baby chips is ok chips
Woken up to snow here and quite a bit of it! It isn't supposed to last so as soon as it is light will make the most of it with DS.

WreckTangled · 24/01/2021 06:39

Oh no chips. I thought you didn't have many cases? Ds has a cough but also a cold.

We're forecast some snow here but I don't think we will get much.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/01/2021 07:31

Morning!

We had snow flurries yesterday. We won't be getting decent snow though. It's been 11 years since that happened!

It's forecast cold today! I shall feed the birds and nothing more at the allotment. It's too wet to do much / anything anyway.

Chips, I'm sorry to hear about poor Baby Chips. I hope he's better soon. Is it easy to book a test there?

Wreck, I'd probably get your DS tested too as not everyone presents the same with it. I'm keeping an eye on DS too as he's on day 9 of isolation and was snotty in bed last night. I'll see what develops today!

WreckTangled · 24/01/2021 07:35

I did a LFD test on him which was negative so I'm going to leave it at that unless he develops anything else significant.

I know someone who had Covid symptom from Monday and had two negative pcr test and then a third that was positive. They're an hcp so would have swabbed properly but really felt they had it hence the repeated tests, I found that quite concerning!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/01/2021 07:38

I've heard a few tales like that! It is a worry, but surely are the tiniest minority, logically?!
