I hope some people are managing to enjoy their day.
Christmas songs and prosecco at 7.30. Best thing is eating those mini sausage rolls for breakfast.
Chocolate next!

@TWBAEM its good that you are having a lovely day. I contemplated online church but haven't got on with online church all year so thought I wouldn't try it again today!
I hope you're feeling a but better now...

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 14:02

Yes!

I’m sitting here with my wine and my cheeseboard watching a full re-run of last year’s cricket World Cup final on Sky. And this time, I can actually enjoy it, because I’m not on the edge of the seat with nerves. Grin

“England have won the World Cup! By the barest of margins!!”

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 14:10

I know this Christmas is sad for lots (and I do not want to be insensitive to that) but also some people seem happier for just being at home and pleasing themselves.
Glad to see the boxing day sofa sale ads are still on TV though, nothing changes! Xmas Grin

In the bath after a semi stressful morning. This is partly my fault as I never wrap presents until Christmas Eve and then stay up until 3am doing it all. I usually watch Love Actually but couldn’t find it so watched Crazy Rich Asians (great!) and The Holiday (shit!)
DP and kids are dancing to Gangnam Style in the kitchen and DD5 has her new microphone on. Who bought her that and why do they hate us?
All going well except I feel that I very much failed at zero waste and local Christmas this year. So many Amazon boxes and plastic. At least gin comes in a glass bottle...

Oblomov20 · 25/12/2020 14:16

Lovely. Turkey and Roast potatoes in oven now. Very pleasant.

No different to any other Christmas actually. Which I appreciate many people can't say. But it's just Dh, me, 2 x ds's, so this is the norm.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 25/12/2020 14:19

Not really! I have a grumpy 23 year old DD who is incredibly disappointed not to be able to mix our bubble with my sister, her daughter/husband and their three children. However on the plus side, I have just had a chilly walk round to my 90 year old mother (first Christmas she has spent alone, unsurprisingly) and stood on the doorstep for a while. She was pretty cheerful and has been given a date for her vaccine in a couple of weeks' time.

I've had a couple of doorstep, standing several feet away, visits too, which is lovely.

Really glad to hear how positive most people are.

Having a quiet but nice day here. Just me, DH and 7 year old DS this morning. DS woke at 7.50am so not bad. We unwrapped presents, listening to Christmas songs and had smoked salmon for breakfast (DS had frosties followed by chocolate Xmas Blush).

Got to play with DS with his presents. DH collected MiL -she is our only guest today and is lovely.

Chilling at the moment, veg is prepped. Will put the beef in soon as we will eat around 5pm. I have my Christmas table cloth and crackers ready!

Bumpsadaisie · 25/12/2020 15:28

I am! Got lovely face cream and dh seems to have taken charge in the kitchen! I'm sitting watching tv with the kids.

grassisjeweled · 25/12/2020 15:31

Fine here. Kids happy with pressies. Will do veg prep soon. Turkey in oven at 12 noon.

1992serpent · 25/12/2020 15:37

We've actually had a great day. I'm at my mums with my siblings and my DD. Ive helped cook the roast and we've all just finished eating it. Delicious!

DD has spent the whole morning playing with her new toys and dancing around in her unicorn princess dress. She's now on the sofa watching Coco.

It's been great overall. Havent had a christmas like this in years.

Lifeispassingby · 25/12/2020 15:46

It’s been ok here too. We got back late last night from travelling from FIL funeral yesterday and crashed out, so slept in late. Took the dogs for a walk in the woods, FaceTimed my parents and crashed out on the sofa with buffet food. We decided against a roast Christmas dinner as knew we would feel too wiped out to bother. We are in tier 4 so can’t mix and have no presents but it’s fine x

ApplesinmyPocket · 25/12/2020 16:11

What a lovely thread!

Having such a nice day here. Just me, DH and DD2 (who lives with us) - DD1 is a nurse and on shift today, but we Houseparty-ed with her for half an hour this morning and it was lovely. Beautiful Christmas music on, champagne and nice food.

Apart from DD1 not being with us, nor DD2's fiancé (our bubble) who is with his own mother today for the Christmas 'amnesty', we have had one of the best Christmases ever, and I'm glad others have too.

Echobelly · 25/12/2020 16:17

We don't celebrate as Jewish, though we did do a turkey lunch with different bits of DH's family preparing bits and delivering, which was nice. Had two cocktails and glass of wine, so pretty happy Grin

riotlady · 25/12/2020 16:21

It’s ok. This is the first year I’ve not been doing a massive family thing at my parents and I’m missing it. We’ve had DPs sister for most of the day and his dad came round a few hours ago- he’s in a bit of a mood and refusing all attempts to play games. I’ve been chronically ill for the latter half of 2020 so not feeling well at all and have snuck off got a little lie down. Toddler DD is happy though and loves her dolls house.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/12/2020 16:26

I would be, except my damned period arrived FOUR days early so I'm sitting feeling sorry for myself after making dinner etc.

The children are behaving nicely, DH spoiled me completely (and liked his gifts), and dinner was delicious. These are all Good Things.

PearlescentIridescent · 25/12/2020 16:46

Wonderful day here 😊 so relaxed, made a wonderful dinner that the kids actually ate all of which I couldn't believe, and am saving my portion for when they go to bed.

They've been great, enjoyed everything and I'm really looking forward to enjoying the evening with DP where I will have a long bath with new bath stuff, change into new jammies, eat a big Christmas dinner and play some games.

Best one so far in terms of the actually day which is exactly what I wanted as I lost my dad early this December. It's been truly merry and bright though Halo

Whatayear1234 · 25/12/2020 16:58

@Lifeispassingby I'm sorry to hear about your father in law. I hope the walk blew the cobwebs away a bit.

@riotlady I really hope your illness is able to be treated. It must be nice seeing your DD enjoy her dolls house.

Yes, it was lovely. Great presents which everyone appreciated.DCs took charge of Christmas dinner so I didn’t have to lift a finger which was bloody brilliant. Now all just chilling.

Lifeispassingby · 25/12/2020 17:29

@Whatayear1234 thank you, that’s very kind. It’s been a complicated time with covid and the funeral was very hard yesterday with all the rules but we got through it and have had a quiet day but exactly what we needed. We couldn’t have had anyone over anyway so in a way this was different from the norm and made that easier if that makes sense.

littlemissalwaystired · 25/12/2020 17:32

12 hour shift as a midwife today but it's actually been really lovely! 2.5 hours until home time nowSmile

SecretWitch · 25/12/2020 17:37

Merry Christmas to you all

It’s been a very quiet day. Chinese for dinner and gift opening with just the four of us.

I’ve been ill with diverticulitis and a kidney infection so back to bed soon.
