I haven't seen this thread yet and it's one I enjoy - the annual game of fridge jenga!

Here is ours - no meat in there yet so not sure where that is going to fit 😬

There is lots of booze & juice as well as prawn cocktail, squirty cream & double cream, red cabbage, Savoy cabbage, sprouts, a gazillion cheeses

@BronwenFrideswide - as I have repeatedly said I don't see it as bragging. It is just a bit of escapism for me. And yes, I did acknowledge how Sadseal felt and we had a nice exchange. I have also suggested if people find it upsetting not to read this thread - having good boundaries. You however don't understand - this is the Christmas board - people come him for festive cheer - do you enjoy spoiling that for some people? We are not all the same - some enjoy this thread - others don't. I'm really struggling not only with my mental health and finances but bloody Long Covid too. Let people enjoy things!

DreadingSeason2020sFinale · 22/12/2020 17:31

I bought a new fridge yesterday so I could play Christmas food Tetris, though to be fair the old fridge was half dead and has been for many years now. I certainly wasn't sad to see it go.

I'm very jealous of your huge fridge OP! I wish we had space for that. Sadly I only have half the space you do (other half is freezer) so it's crammed and everything that I can get away with keeping at room temp (like veggies) are piled up beside the kitchen table.

Sparklingbells · 22/12/2020 17:35

Not gonna post a pic of my fridge cos it looks a bit shit- BUT i will post the pic of the 3kg of goey nacho cheese sauce i picked up in costco yesterday 😋 my homemade chilli cheese nachos are goin to be epic Christmas eve 😁

Thanks for ruining the thread for me. Cheese does horrible things to me 🤢💨💨
Sparklingbells · 22/12/2020 17:41

Sorry about that 😳

Christmascheese · 22/12/2020 17:45

@Sparklingbells that is definitely going on my Costco list!!

Sparklingbells · 22/12/2020 17:48

Christmascheese the massive bags of nachos have £2 off atm aswell 😁

PickAChew · 22/12/2020 17:51

@Sparklingbells

Sorry about that 😳
No problem 😎 (but that is why I hide dh's cheese behind the melon. I do miss it and occasionally play Russian roulette with it)
AlwaysLatte · 22/12/2020 17:54

Ours is well stocked. I don't think posting pictures of it is helpful to some others who inevitably don't have as much or can't get certain items.

AlwaysLatte · 22/12/2020 17:55

Pretty sure yours is the same fridge freezer as mine though - Samsung?

MrsWhites · 22/12/2020 18:04

@Sparklingbells best post of the thread! How much is the cheese sauce going to set me back on my visit to Costco tomorrow? I mean who doesn’t need 3kg of nacho cheese sauce at Christmas???

Bumpsadaisie · 22/12/2020 18:05

@MirandaMarple

I'm a twat with two fridges
Bloody hell @MirandaMarple

Bumpsadaisie · 22/12/2020 18:06

Cupboard and freezer all stocked too.

Merry Christmas everyone 🥳🥳

We love those hotdog sausages. So fat and delicious 😋
Bumpsadaisie · 22/12/2020 18:07

@guesswhosbac

Not the tidiest as we didn't get back from shopping until 10 last night so just shoved it all in but here you go!
Some funny angles here @guesswhosbac

Please straighten - it's stressing me out.

Sparklingbells · 22/12/2020 18:12

@MrsWhites i think it was £7 or £8 😋 the massive bag of nachos is also a must buy 😁

@TheTiersOfAClownAKABoris

Do people know that this thread is MN tradition? Yes some people may not want to partake in it and so don't have to post/look but, for me, things have been so shit and so different that I feel better seeing things like this. Like I said, I would have put a photo of mine up which I scrimped for on a low income.

Are the people saying YABU to do this (even though it's not fucking AIBU) go on every single "what are you buying for Christmas" or even Reastie's threads and give the OPs and posters a load of grief? Or the What Are You Wearing threads? Or What's the Best Thing you bought This Year? Or the beauty advent calendars threads where people post their photos too? Surely beauty advent calendars are the height of "read the room people are skint" faux pas type thread....

Thought not.

Bravo 👏
LookingAfterLittleArfur · 22/12/2020 18:29

Blimey - two fridges. That’s going to tip all the Mumsnet miseries over the edge!

fairydustandpixies · 22/12/2020 18:32

Hehe, no photo but I ventured to a large supermarket today. Got the RAGE at all the families with parents and toddlers and families with adult children all mooching about. I was supposed to be staying with my parents who I've not seen since lockdown. All these families acting like the supermarket is a day trip out. Anyway, that aside, I raged my way round the shop, no social distancing whatsoever and ended up coming home without washing powder, cat food and toilet rolls and instead ended up with kippers (I've never eaten a kipper in my life!), potato salad and vitamin water. Goodbye £108 and goodbye stuff I needed! I'm really not happy!! Kippers anyone?? Free to a good home????

Lindy2 · 22/12/2020 18:44

My fridge was looking very impressive a couple of days ago. However, the rate at which everyone is munching through everything right now (tier 4 and obviously spending alot of time at home eating) is causing me a bit of concern. Hopefully we'll not actually run out before we even get to Christmas day.

I have a pretty packed freezer though so we will move on to that as needed.

I'm definitely not posting pictures - there are some impressively neat fridges on here and mine sadly isn't one of them. I go more for the shove it where it fits approach and then spend 15 minutes trying to locate it again. It doesn't make for a tidy fridge but it does slow down the snackers - no one has found the extra special stuff yet because it's hidden under some ordinary ham and cheese. Xmas Grin

laudemio · 22/12/2020 18:47

I can't decide if I love the posts with fridges, or the po faced, holier than thou, virtue signalling, misery police posts more.
Our full size fridge is packed to the brim and there's only 3 of us. But it means we can hunker down at home for quite some time, which in tier 4 is a good thing.

BronwenFrideswide · 22/12/2020 18:51

UndertheCedartree

as I have repeatedly said I don't see it as bragging.

You and I have a different interpretation of bragging then - to me a thread showing a big fridge stuffed to the gunnels with an accompanying How am I going to fit in everything else I've bought is bragging.

It is just a bit of escapism for me. And yes, I did acknowledge how Sadseal felt and we had a nice exchange. I have also suggested if people find it upsetting not to read this thread - having good boundaries.

I clicked on the thread out of curiosity as it was in Active as I am sure a number of other posters did and amongst those will be people who find the images and accompanying commentary very smug, bit late to put in boundaries after you've seen it.

You however don't understand - this is the Christmas board - people come him for festive cheer - do you enjoy spoiling that for some people?

I didn't notice it was the Christmas Board, but if this is their idea of spreading Christmas cheer I shall be sure to hide it as I find this an odd way of spreading Christmas cheer to me it is an exercise in showing off. Equally do you enjoy making other posters fee like shit because their fridges and cupboards are practically bare?

We are not all the same - some enjoy this thread - others don't. I'm really struggling not only with my mental health and finances but bloody Long Covid too. Let people enjoy things!

No we are not all the same, I can't enjoy making other people feel crap because they are unable to compete with this grandstanding over how much food they have.

Anyway I'll leave you to it.

PickAChew · 22/12/2020 18:52

I hide things in the salad drawer. Never fails.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 22/12/2020 18:58

Ah I love the annual Christmas fridge thread! Xmas Grin

Merry Christmas Everyone Flowers

dotty12345 · 22/12/2020 18:58

I enjoy the fridge posts, bit of escapism, unfortunately due to reduced hours and my teenage son losing his job we currently have pickle, peanut butter and leeks in the fridge, I often don't have dinner and eat toast or cereal but won't go to food bank as we are two adults and I don't want to deprive smaller children in desperate need of food. We have bought no gifts as decided the best gift to us is being able to feed the dog. Last year I got a £50 voucher from work and it's likely I will get this tomorrow or Christmas Eve which will do Christmas dinner and more. I still really enjoy looking at others fridges and neither begrudge nor think they are bragging. It's human nature to be proud of what we have whether it be a little or a lot.

AnnaSW1 · 22/12/2020 19:02

Ooh I was wondering where this thread was this year.
