Thanks @GoblinDaughter for the title

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.

Massively twitching!
Ds has a much smaller pile. Mainly because he’s toys not in packaging!
Need something big and cheap,

Amazonmulu · 17/12/2020 08:12

Bodum are having a super sale with some items really reduced - eg teapot below £20 to £3.95! For any tea lovers out there!

@ShandlersWig

DS has announced he's staying at Uni over Xmas (lots of angst re spreading covid). I'd love to send a few of his maller pressies and a few other items in a kind of care package. Realise it's all a bit late in the day!

Any ideas for contents or posting tips?

I did similar for my younger brother who is staying in Italy. I sent some paper decorations, fun christmas paper napkins and tablecloth, some food treats and a gift card. i used Parcel2Go which gives you a range of delivery options and choices if you weigh and measure your parcel. You can also choose if you can print a label or need it printed for you. They had cashback on TCB when I used them too.

bodum the code OBERST10 also gives an additional 10% off but I can’t find anything to discount the extortionate delivery charges!

BadgerFace · 17/12/2020 09:13

Matalan code in case of use to anyone...

Not sure why the photo didn’t load!

I’d advise anyone wanting to shop at Matalan to only go into a store and don’t attempt online shopping. They don’t seem to be fulfilling orders and it is impossible to get through to customer services. They’ve closed their telephone lines due to the unexpected demand!

Scout2016 · 17/12/2020 09:44

I twitched something chronic yesterday on stocking fillers...some of it from Amazon too, who until recently I had successfully boycotted for years. Giving myself a talking to.
This is like confession!

Lellyo · 17/12/2020 09:46

Ooo.....I’m twitching too.....can anyone recommend one of the light boxes mentioned above please?

The Tracked 48hr service seems to be working well. You have to order and print off the postage at home as it’s a Royal Mail service not sold by the Post office Hmm I found it slightly cheaper than ordinary first class for the last parcel I sent. There’s also Tracked 24hr. You can even get your postman to collect the parcel from you for an extra 72p.

FizzyPink · 17/12/2020 09:58

@SparklingLime do you need a special kind of printer paper to print the label? I’m so sick of the hour long post office queue so post man collection would be great

NewCatMummy · 17/12/2020 10:01

Teenage dd gave the infamous cinnamon buns to her school friends yesterday and they were well received. I’m now trying to get some stocking fillers while avoiding supermarkets, crowds and amazon- gah!

SparklingLime · 17/12/2020 10:01

No, just an ordinary printer, @fizzypink, and you cut out the address label/bar code and sellotape it on. Very low tech! Our post office is frankly unsafe so it’s been so helpful.

PinkDaydreams · 17/12/2020 10:03

I don't suppose anyone has a code for the north face website please? Thank you!

FizzyPink · 17/12/2020 10:03

That’s brilliant, thanks so much for the tip!

IggyAce · 17/12/2020 10:13

Not for Christmas but for ds birthday early next year, can anyone recommend a place to buy an Among Us hoody or tshirt please.

Purpletoes · 17/12/2020 10:24

Also with the print label at home you can drop your parcel at a delivery office either. I did it yesterday was amazing only 1 person in front of me. I am md out in 2.mins

ShandlersWig · 17/12/2020 10:47

Thanks for posting tip. I always assume RM and PO are one and the same!

sugarplumfairy2010 · 17/12/2020 11:21

Ebay for among us hoody.

Whalewithnosnail · 17/12/2020 11:28

For posting you can also use somewhere like parcel 2 go

You can compare the price of several couriers. We have drop off lockers at out.local Morrisons and drop off there. In the car park so easy ro get to and no crowds. I have been pleased so far with the service and surprised at the prices- much cheaper than I had imagined.

OhRex · 17/12/2020 11:32

Apologies if this has already been covered, but can anyone recommend a board game to share for a 6yr old boy and his ASC 9yr old sister? They got Game of Life jnr last year which was fab for him but a bit too young for her. They already have dobble, uno and Twister. TIA

Elphaba17 · 17/12/2020 11:32

Has anyone an argos code by any chance please? Two unexpected gifts to order courtesy of DHs last minute shopping and argos seems the best place for price and stock.

RugsEverywhere · 17/12/2020 11:36

I've sent a big heavyish parcel by hermes this week and was pleaaantly surprised it only took 2 days

TheCrow · 17/12/2020 11:52

I sent a parcel from one end of the country to the other using the post office second class signed for and it arrived on the second day. I used the self service machine in the post office, there was a roll of labels there and I just had to stick one on and scan it.

Seconding eBay or Etsy for among us hoodies and t-shirts.
