Thread 25 - the one where WE GOT TO MAGIC THREAD 25!

Reastie · 05/12/2020 06:50

25th December is Christmas Day and for the first time ever we’ve hit 25 threads! My little challenge every year was will be make it magic number 25 and we’ve only gone and done it and still 20 days to go!

Thank you everyone for posting and sharing ideas and links, so many have been helped in what will be a very difficult Christmas for many, to be able to achieve a Christmas more bumper and less expensive than they had thought they could manage,

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@SnowDoggy thanks for trying but it didn't work :(

Restlessinthenorth · 08/12/2020 06:39

That should have said, thank you, not the kid!

sorryiasked · 08/12/2020 06:41

@Kerrierr how about Monopoly Deal or Blink card games?

kulaexchange · 08/12/2020 06:45

@Theonlyoneiknow @chocolatepudandchocolatesauce @BeaLola

Thank you!!! So kind of you to go out of your way to check stock. I randomly checked John Lewis when I woke up and there was one back in stock to buy online! I'm picking up from Waitrose tomorrow!!! Thank you mumsnetters!!!!

Chailatte20 · 08/12/2020 06:46

@Kerrierr try Debenham. I went at the weekend and everything was reduced. They had the Bakedin baking kits that everyone here bought a few threads backs for 30% off. They're usually £8-£10 but with the reduction would be within budget.

margaritasbythesea · 08/12/2020 06:52

SparklingLime I second what pp said. He'd get them on but theyd be short.

VividImagination · 08/12/2020 07:26

@Kerrierr

Help needed.... I need gift suggestions for an 11 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. Budget should be £5 each but could go a little higher. They both like games and crafts. Struggling to find anything🙈
I was going to suggest Buff neckwear. Sadly the original buffs are back up to full price but something like these might be good split between them (they come individually wrapped) perhaps with a pack of sweets (Percy pigs). Both ds3 (14) and dgs (9) wear them.

Another person that had resisted all the Hotel Chocolat deals until now but couldn’t not go for this one! Just to let anyone else thinking of ordering my estimated delivery date (via Royal Mail, free delivery) is the 16th December. So great for minimising the time I have to be tempted to eat it but starting to get quite close to Christmas!

SnowDoggy · 08/12/2020 07:38
@SnowDoggy thanks for trying but it didn't work :(
Ah sorry, I copied it straight from my UNiDAYS app so should have worked!

It does say it's a multiple use code for my use only so I don't know if it's linked to my hobbycraft account in some way?

SomethingInTheWaySheCooks · 08/12/2020 07:44

I must be the only person who doesn’t like Hotel Chocolat chocolate 😂

Mumto3thatsme · 08/12/2020 08:03

Morning!
Are there any codes around for imperial candles? 🤞

Doordye · 08/12/2020 08:33

River Island 20% AR56F386Q20OFF

TheSilentStars · 08/12/2020 08:41

That chocolate has been in and out of my basket so many times it thinks it's doing the hokey cokey.

Of course, you don't need me to tell you that buying two instead of one with those codes means the second one is virtually free. Mwahahahaha. Xmas Smile

IggyAce · 08/12/2020 08:42

Threads definitely slowing down. I’ve resisted the twitch to order Hotel chocolate (the fact I’m type 2 probably helped). I’ve done my present shopping, just a couple of hampers to put together & then they are all wrapped too.
Waiting on a joules & National trust delivery, but I’m expecting them sometime this week both coming via Royal Mail.

CharlieWeasley · 08/12/2020 09:05

Thanks for hotel chocolat code. I've been dithering since black Friday but that's sorted presents for nursery staff plus a couple of small gifts to go with vouchers for other people.

Does anyone know of a way to get free delivery at whittards? Or any nice but bargainous chocolate covered coffee beans I can order online (had a c section 3 weeks ago so I still can't drive, which is hampering me finishing my shopping!)

BalaamsAss · 08/12/2020 09:13

20% off everything full price on Jack Wills with code GIFT20

Lolly34h · 08/12/2020 09:25

Well I'm officially finished buying now. Unless I get the twitch! Really should unfollow the thread but I have a serious fear of missing out!! Thanks to everyone wise helped me get some really good bargains from puppets to buns to hotel chocolat!! Have a good festive season x x

Fuckingfuckssake · 08/12/2020 09:25

Has anyone used Lapland letters? There's an option to put in a referral code? If anyone has then either pm me or stick it on the referral thread, I'm ordering this morning though. I'll put mine up once I'm done!

unkindnessofravens · 08/12/2020 09:27

Does anyone know of a code for JD Sports at all? DS has decided he would like a Scotland football shirt and they are £50, so in no way bargainous (plus I fear I am setting him up for a lifetime of heartbreak but that's another story Wink)

Shitfuckoh · 08/12/2020 09:41

Does anyone know if the Laithwaites offer is still on or if there's any current offers?
Kicking myself that I didn't order last time!

deeplybaffled · 08/12/2020 09:42

Does anyone know of any deals on National Trust membership please?
Or on newspapers from the day that you were born?
Thank you!

PinkDaydreams · 08/12/2020 09:56

Are there any Argos codes floating about please??

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 08/12/2020 09:56

TheSilentStars · 08/12/2020 10:04

Whittards are a bit like Gap. Sign up and you will receive thrice daily emails...I've just checked all of mine (hundreds of the feckers Xmas Grin) but can't find a free delivery. Worth signing up though to see what temptation they dangle at you.

My Hotel Chocolat is going to my Mum's ex carehome. Then I don't feel guilty at twitching on it.

cataline · 08/12/2020 10:04

Thanks so much to whoever shared the Hotel Chocolat codes. I got some hampers which will be much appreciated by the recipients.

I'm now on the hunt for bargainous and lovely welly socks but I don't even know where to look having never bought them before.

Any ideas please?
