What dessert are you having on Christmas Day?

DH not too keen on Christmas pudding so we have to do something else.

I just did a trial run of Nigellas Tiramisu with basically half a bottle of Tia Maria in it. It is lovely, but it is too heavy after a full on roast. I'd make it again but I'd swap some TM for coffee. I'm sure my DS was a bit wasted after eating it.

What desserts are you having. I want to do something decedent, but not too heavy. A few years back we did Delia's chocolate torte and it was so rich I binned it. I keep thinking possibly a fancy cheesecake?

How about homemade Lemon Posset with a small homemade butter shortbread.

WokesFromHome · 04/12/2020 18:29

Forgot to add. I'd like to do something to put in the fridge the day before.

Also lovely with raspberries !

TreacleHart · 04/12/2020 18:31

Lemon Posset can be made ahead and kept in fridge. You only way a wine glass /smaller glass full.

FelicityBob · 04/12/2020 18:31

Lemon cheesecake yum

WorraLiberty · 04/12/2020 18:31

We just buy a few different 'dessert pots'/frozen ones, because we found it was too hard to please everyone.

Plus there's less waste doing it like that in our house.

Brunt0n · 04/12/2020 18:32

Eton mess?
I love a chocolate trifle personally

MiniCooperLover · 04/12/2020 18:33

Got to be a trifle

MutteringDarkly · 04/12/2020 18:33

Profiteroles here.

We are not friends of raisins so all trad puddings are off the menu Grin

gottakeeponmovin · 04/12/2020 18:34

Christmas pud off course and a colin the caterpillar Xmas log

KittenCalledBob · 04/12/2020 18:34

Trifle here too - I like the Gordon Ramsey recipe. We have it booze free because of the kids.

nancybotwinbloom · 04/12/2020 18:35

We are going to attempt a croque en bouche

jerometheturnipking · 04/12/2020 18:36

Trifle!

Lemon posset sounds like baby sick.

anyoldname76 · 04/12/2020 18:37

I have trifle, my DC usually have Yule log, my DH is not a pudding lover, I usually make him a cinnamon apple pie on Christmas Eve so he will have that

Hohomerryxmas · 04/12/2020 18:39

Pavlova with some fresh fruit. Its my favourite christmas dessert and I don't think its too heavy and can also be made the day before.

loutypips · 04/12/2020 18:39

Well our Xmas pudding is actually last years! We didn't have room and I found it at the back of the cupboard a few weeks ago. It's still in date so should be fine.

A backup dessert will be raspberries, meringue and cream or ice cream, lighter and easy to prepare.

8Track · 04/12/2020 18:41

Trifle here too! We've had traditional sherry trifle and chocolate orange trifle over the last few years. I'm planning some kind of Black Forest Gateau style trifle this year. We usually go away to our favourite German city for a week near Christmas to really get into the spirit, but cant at the moment - as I still have the time off work I'm going to spend it doing some leisurely recipe mooching!

I will gave a Christmas pud though, for Boxing Day or 27th feasting after a leftovers buffet.

And a Jamaican Rum cake.

ThatDamnScientist · 04/12/2020 18:47

I bought a gingerbread cheesecake from Asda freezer section. Looks nice and it might actually be a dessert everyone eats (there is only 4 of us but finding something that everyone will eat is a challenge!)

maddiemookins16mum · 04/12/2020 18:51

2 tubs of Celebrations.

june2007 · 04/12/2020 18:51

Trifle, Christmas log, Sticky tofee pud. I knw Delia Smith has a recipe for a St Stephens pudding which is meant to be had on boxing day. (suprise surprise) but that could do. I do a rainbow Jelly as my husband doesn,t like cream. Or how about mince pies.

maddiemookins16mum · 04/12/2020 18:52

Actually I quite fancy Trifle now.

HermioneWeasley · 04/12/2020 18:53

Mont Blanc (basically a fancy pavlova)

StCharlotte · 04/12/2020 18:56

DH will make a trifle (no sherry - I can't bear alcohol in desserts) and I will be making a raspberry and chocolate torte, in fact I bought the freeze-dried raspberries today.

StCharlotte · 04/12/2020 18:57

This is just for two of us Grin

SionnachRua · 04/12/2020 18:58

Banoffee all day, every day. Might also make a mango sticky rice in the days after. It's a bit of work but so worth it!
