We had an unexpectedly busy day yesterday so I’m going to assemble mine tonight and decorate it tomorrow.

Trumpton, your cake looks fantastic! We're doing ours tomorrow; I suspect it won't look so polished.

The girls have finished with the house. I think we've eaten as many sweets as went on it . They want to do one each next year so I'll definitely be investing in a cutter.

I take take no credit for the cake, I only made the decorator 39 years ago !
She took over decorating the cakes many years ago.

I wonder if I can train dd1 to take over ours 🤔. Bearing in mind we haven't started eating this year's house yet (dd2 wanted to show dad first), she has vanished upstairs plotting next years!

I made half a gingerbread house! I’ll do the roof tomorrow when the walls have hopefully securely dried into place. Although tbh I’m not sure I can be arsed to finish it...patience is not a virtue of mine! I remember now why I don’t do these very often.

My plan for today is to ice the star biscuits made using the Lakeland cutters and make them into a Christmas Tree and construct the gingerbread house, which is just a Lidl one.

Thanks @Trumpton I'll do them today and if they don't like it I have a back up pot. She will love it and I can't wait to see her face. Just need to figure out how to wrap it

I tried to be really organised this year about gifts and all the practicalities and it’s worked In my favour as I’ve had a lot more time for poncing! These are some socks I knitted for my sister, I love to make labels/packaging for handmade gifts too for some strange reason, hence the tag 😁

I’ve taken everything down.

DH called it Christmas tat. So I obliged and got rid.

I’ll leave the tree up, and the window decorations/outdoor lights, because otherwise the neighbours will think we’re very odd. But everything else has been taken down and will be packed away tomorrow.

No, he’s not a grinch at all. He was angry, we’ve had a horrible row today. He didn’t mean it and he apologised. I fully admit to being a twat when I’m angry. I’m so done with 2020.

If you’re not superstitious that it would bring you bad luck, I’d like to give you the gingerbread cutter set. I’d already decided that I was never going to make another one because I just don’t have the patience and it stresses me out so much, and I know that you had a lovely time doing yours with your girls. And now of course it’s ruined everything for me because I’ve had such an awful day, so I’d rather not keep it. If you’re happy to PM me your address I’ll send it to you when the Christmas postage madness is done.

We are all on edge and it is so short a journey to over the edge. If he is not usually this big an ass, I hope you make up and that it can be forgotten. If he is, I hope you have others who appreciate and love you. 💐

He isn’t at all. He’s lovely. He had several heart attacks a few weeks ago, totally out of the blue (he’s only 42 and has always been perfectly healthy), and is on a huge amount of meds which he’s never had before which are making him feel out of sorts. I was actually much more in the wrong than he was.

But today is a new day.

Dd2 looked bored earlier on so I helped her ice our cake...then she rooted the majority of the festive cake decs out of my box of tricks & has decorated it too.

Dd1's currently in the process of making mince pies, and I've made a cauliflower cheese. There'll be very few jobs left for me at this rate!

But I’ll probably wait til the new year to send it just so it doesn’t get lost in the post office madness.
