Thread 23 - the one where the shops are actually open again

Reastie · 26/11/2020 18:33

It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets

Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

thelegohooverer My DC age 9 & 12 and DH in his 40's, love Pandemic. There are loads of expansion sets too. We will be getting one for Christmas. I think you can have up to 4 players but you can play with just 2.

TildaTurnip · 28/11/2020 16:01

Thanks for ideas for my Dad and brother-I will start a thread too. Hadn’t realised how hard it would be thinking of anything and needing it to be able to posted there directly makes it trickier I guess. Clothes would be tricky. They’re my last two to buy for!

Scrambledbeans · 28/11/2020 16:02

Sorry if already posted- two lottie dolls, the STEM and princess are reduced to £16 on amazon and have an option to add a £5 voucher making them £11 each.

TildaTurnip · 28/11/2020 16:03

How do you get the £50 at very for new customers? I’m on their site and cannot see it. Thank you

pasinphoebe · 28/11/2020 16:05

BFCM2020 gives free delivery if you need children’s books - books2 door. Think they also do cashback. This weekend only

Daisy829 · 28/11/2020 16:12

@CoffeeAndEnnui our Royal Mail post is really slow. We aren’t getting deliveries until about 5.30pm. I’ve also had a parcel apparently delivered but I’ve never received it. It’s frustrating as usually RM are good & our usual postie is brilliant. I think they are really stretched atm. My friend had her oodie parcel tampered with & one was missing. The parcel had been retaped up with the courier branded tape. Ive never had problems with post or couriers in previous years but have definitely noticed it this year. I’ve also had a missing M&S gin and my second one was smashed to pieces.

Yeknom · 28/11/2020 16:16

Is there a free delivery code for masters of malt?

Also does anyone actually own a bottle cap collecting bottle opener that isn't wall hung - that they'd recommend? Some of the reviews on some are pretty dodgy and I thought this would make a good present for my cousin

Changingagain · 28/11/2020 16:17

ThePurpleGirl no giggles but I got a death stare from the postie 😂 it was terrible weather that day and he had a proper "I'm done with this shit" sort of look on his face before he saw me. It wasn't even my shopping that day, it was mostly dh's.

SpamIAm · 28/11/2020 16:20

@TildaTurnip QYYFL for £50 off a £150 spend.

Rockhopper81 · 28/11/2020 16:23

@TildaTurnip

You need to open a new credit account at Very - QYYFL will get £50 credit to your account when you spend over £150 (QYYHP will get £35 credit to a £70 spend), so it effectively takes £50 off your 'bill to pay'. So buying the Switch at £280 (plus £3.99 P&P - aargh!), it bought my 'bill' to £234 (bar a couple of pence).

The £50 one says it finished today, £35 says it ends on 1/12.

TildaTurnip · 28/11/2020 16:35

Thank you and SpamIAm

Anydreamwilldo12 · 28/11/2020 16:43

I know of so many people whose deliveries have been tampered with and things missing this year. My Aldi Kevin set had one item missing. The stick down top had obviously been opened but I hadn't noticed that when it was delivered.
I advise everybody to inspect all parcels on delivery which I will be doing from now on. It's a bloody disgrace all the stealing going on.

Fancyateapottea · 28/11/2020 16:52

If anyone is looking for advent calendars, they’ve got them half price on the Lindt website and a few other Christmas bits are on offer too. Minimum spend of £20 but has helped me out as I’ve really struggled to get advent calendars in store!

Salamander91 · 28/11/2020 16:55

I can't remember who was looking for a baby yoda but good price on shop Disney

Can anyone recommend anywhere to get some (bargain outs) Christmas lights/outside decorations? Classy but bright Grin we’ve had a new roof this summer so not wanting to put nails in the fascias and no front gutters.....

HoHoHolyMackerel · 28/11/2020 17:16

I've also just had a seasalt jute delivery and one is missing. The key bloody one I wanted of course, that swiftly went out of stock. I've just had it out with them and they say its in its way 🤞

runningpink · 28/11/2020 17:23

FFS 2020 keeps on giving! About the only thing to on a Saturday night at the moment is watch crap on TV. So mine decided to completely out of the blue pack in. 😡

Anyone seen any deals on TVs before I start looking? Nothing fancy just a TV

I am on the wine!

LostMyRubySlippers · 28/11/2020 17:24

Whoever asked about the molton brown magazine voucher, mine wouldn’t work either, despite a number of attempts. To add insult to injury I have also been charged 3x for the remaining £5-odd I was paying by debit card- even though I’ve had no order confirmation Angry
Think I’ll have to wait for a response from molton brown before then contacting the magazine people about the dodgy gift card!?!

pigletpie2177 · 28/11/2020 17:34

Thanks @selina25 I'll check Aldi!

John Lewis are good because they do longer guarantees, here www.johnlewis.com/browse/special-offers/electrical-offers/tv-offers/_/N-efb

This thread might be done before the shops ARE actually open again the speed it’s going Grin

caffeineanddryshampoo · 28/11/2020 17:53

@ThePurpleGirl The postie gave me a funny look this morning when my parcel from "PoundToy" arrived. Husband has pointed out it sounds like a sex toy shop Shock

tentative3 · 28/11/2020 17:53

Way back in the mists of thread time, someone posted a deal or a code for The Chocolate Emporium, I'm sure it was one of these threads. Does anyone have a code for them?

Notlongnow1 · 28/11/2020 17:56

@lostmyrubyslippers
I hadn't even thought of that. I've been charged 12 bloody times! Guess I'll be calling Molton Brown Monday morning too!
