It’s nearly December, Father Christmas is busy putting the final touches to his toys on the workshop and we are busy elves preparing for a somewhat different Christmas this year.

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

@SomethingInTheWaySheCooks try paying with PayPal or adding to account. When I tried it kept crashing if I chose to pay outright but worked the other ways (can obviously then just pay off straight away).

Christmascaker · 27/11/2020 16:59

Thanks @mummabear74 unfortunately they don’t have the right ones! Some good bargains there though!!!

Help needed! I'd like to take advantage of Black Friday deals to buy a Kindle fire for my DH. He has bifocals now so has to really peer at his tiny phone screen. Thinking tablet would be a way for him to check emails, do bits of web browsing, keep up with news etc. on his lap in front of TV. I don't think he will watch a lot of TV on it particularly and not buying it primarily as a reading device... Will an HD8 be big enough and what generation do I really need? I'm thinking HD8 32gb will do? And these are around on offer for around £55 today. Also on amazon they are described as 'with ads' 'without ads' - does anyone have any comments about this - can you turn the ads off/are they really annoying. Thanks so much in advance for any advice :)

Useful price comparison sites

Cath Kidston have up to 60% off for Black Friday and an extra 10% off with code BF10 here

YourHandInMyHand · 27/11/2020 17:15

@Phineasthegreat B&M had various giant soft toys today. Didn't look at price but I'd assume reasonably priced in there.

TheLastStarfighter · 27/11/2020 17:17

Good reductions on Amazon lego for Black Friday. I got:

Lego Technics Top Gear Rally Car reduced to £75

Lego Technic Stunt Racer reduced to £43

And they both worked with the extra 15% off using the Amazon Kids Wish List with the KWL15 code. Since you can only use it once, I decided to save it for Black Friday.

I am trying to buy an Apple Watch Series 6 and had hoped to use the Very £50 off for new customers, but am not having any luck. I presume I need to apply for a credit account to use it? The problem is, I'm taking out a new mortgage soon, so don't want the credit record check. Any other deals out there?

SleighbellsAndHollyberries · 27/11/2020 17:21

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Maybe proceed with caution as Cath Kidston are rumoured to be going into receivership along with other companies that Philip Green is involved with .. Topshop, Dorothy Perkins etc.

WisestIsShe · 27/11/2020 17:24

Thanks @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl and @NoWordForFluffy for the coffee info. I've tried to add it to my basket but the site says try again later. So I will.

@unfortunateevents thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look now.

TheLastStarfighter · 27/11/2020 17:27

@Chunkychipsohyeah

Don’t suppose anyone has a code for FatFace or Last Exit To Nowhere, please?

Also thought this beauty box looks great for a gift at £30 or to split as stocking fillers; it was advertised on the mumsnet money offers email.

@Chunkychipsohyeah The beauty box shows as £60 for me. Was it a typo, or is there some way to get it for £30?
73kittycat73 · 27/11/2020 17:29

To the poster looking for an adult scooter, just had this one through my emails. Down to £199.00 from £299.00. Hope this helps! Xmas Smile

WisestIsShe · 27/11/2020 17:32

@NoWordForFluffy I can't see anything in the website about an extra bag of coffee, out any mention of black Friday? Is there a code for it?

BigBadBox · 27/11/2020 17:36

@WisestIsShe code blackcoffee

NoWordForFluffy · 27/11/2020 17:38

It's on the front page for me!

Chunkychipsohyeah · 27/11/2020 17:38

@TheLastStarfighter I’m so sorry, it looks like it’s gone up to £60 now - how annoying! It was definitely £30 this morning as I had it in my basket at one point and it was advertised at £30 in the Mumsnet money saver email, I just checked that too. Not quite such a bargain now Blush

Salamander91 · 27/11/2020 17:44

@Phineasthegreat Asda had giant soft toys and smyths usually do too.

Lovemusic33 · 27/11/2020 17:45
@SomethingInTheWaySheCooks Thanks for recommendation. I've just ordered a pair of all over floral boots. For me. With Christmas money I haven't been given yet.
I did the same earlier this morning, a gift for me....from me 🤣 can’t wait to wear my new boots.

Mumto3thatsme · 27/11/2020 17:45

@Howmanysleepsnow

Does anyone know of a way to transfer vhs tapes to a computer without a vhs player? DF has asked for a 2nd hand vhs player and a gadget to transfer videos to his computer. I ordered the gadget but I can’t find a working vhs player for sale! Are there any alternatives (he doesn’t want to send tapes away for someone to do it for him)?
Where are you? I have a working one, surplus to requirements x
TheLastStarfighter · 27/11/2020 17:48

@Chunkychipsohyeah no problem Smile, I just thought I might have missed a code or something. Would have been an amazing bargain at £30!

Theonlyoneiknow · 27/11/2020 17:48

*thelaststarfighter& is that amazon code general or account specific/ I could'nt get it to work on those items :(

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 27/11/2020 17:51

sad gift ideas please

something for a little boy to remember his friend who died and/or to offer him some comfort during which will be a shitty christmas for him.

JoeWicksSurvivor · 27/11/2020 17:54

BOOT BANANAS are £9.80 on both Millets and Blacks websites. Cheaper than Amazon.

Free delivery on both sites until midnight tonight.

WisestIsShe · 27/11/2020 17:56

@NoWordForFluffy and @bigbadbox thanks! When I followed the link before that wasn't there.

sycamorescrumptious · 27/11/2020 17:57

Some of the tasting sets have sold out already, but master of malt has some decent savings on whisky/rum etc in their Black Friday offering. Good for a hard to buy for grandad!

TheLastStarfighter · 27/11/2020 18:09

@Theonlyoneiknow You have to set it up in a particular way.

You need to set up a kids wish list. (I hope that link works). It's a particular type of wishlist, not just the regular one.

Once you have set up the kids wish list, add the items to the list as if you were the kid, the exit the kids wish list functionality, go to the wishlist as an adult, add the items to your basket and checkout using the code in the promotion/gift voucher box during checkout.

Technically you are supposed to wait for them to email you the code, but it takes days, and it's the same code that has been emailed to everyone who has done it.

You should be able to see the discount easily in the checkout, so you'll know if it has worked. I checked out about 8 things that I had put on the list, and noticed that the discount hadn't worked on a couple of the lower value items. I think that was because I had initially added them to my basket from the kids wishlist, then changed my mind and saved for later, then added them back to my basket. So I think it is very specific that the item has to have been added to the basket straight from the kids wish list and then checked out straight away.

Good luck!
