I have procrastinated on Dad's scarf but I have nearly finished it now, will just have to make the pom pom for Mum's scarf which could be interesting.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2020 09:32

Pom poms are easy! Just do loads of wool. More than you think!

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/12/2020 09:35

Why I've got a pompon making gizmo. You're welcome to borrow it. It's one of these types. I've got two sizes (probably makes medium and small).

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/12/2020 09:42

Oooh thanks Woolly that would be great.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2020 09:45

Cheat! 😂😂 Cardboard circles are where it's at! Xmas Grin

Message me your address and I'll drop it off today on my way to town.

pussycatinboots · 02/12/2020 10:10

Wreck, thanks for the tip 😁 we called at Tesco after Morrisons, (2 bulbs for a quid), it would cost that to park at Wilko 🤔 and your DH needs a boot up the bum for this morning. I hope DD is ok.
Fluffy, fab bookmark - they look like friendly monsters.
The fairy liquid I bought from Morrisons has "have a Fairy Christmas" on with a picture of a bauble.Xmas Grin
Nero, it was warmer here at 5am than it is now.🥶🥶
Crazy, no idea - we've changed the fuse too. It's plugged into a timer and is on early and late so we don't tread on a cat in the dark I think I must have bought a load of crap bulbs. 🤞🏻 that the Tesco ones are better.
I am happy to administer boots up the bum Xmas Grin I might need one or two of my own though...Xmas Blush

pussycatinboots · 02/12/2020 10:12

why I want a photo of the pompoms Xmas Grin
Woolly I had a set of them...dunno what happened to them Mother probably Hmm

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/12/2020 13:18

I've finally remembered to dig out my yarn and take a photo for Wreck

If you number the grey one on the far left as 1 and the dark cream one on the far right as 6 just let me know if any of them are a colour that you fancy.

There will be photo evidence once completed.

I did my manual handling training this morning and due to covid it is in two's only and obviously with full ppe which was very warm whilst hoisting I can tell you. We were the best they have seen in a long time though which impressed both of us as neither of us thought we could remember any of it when we arrived 🤣

WreckTangled · 02/12/2020 15:56

Thanks woolly! I like the grey (1) Smile

Just did my first rapid lateral flow Covid test. Negative thankfully Grin have 12 weeks supply.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2020 17:25

Did you do it yourself? They said in Parliament today that you can't do the lateral flow yourself!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 02/12/2020 17:33

Yep we're all doing it ourselves (not just my trust either). I think they're only 77% accurate.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/12/2020 19:10

Our local general hospital staff are doing their own Wreck, I suspect we will be as well. You have to go to a testing centre though if you test positive.

WreckTangled · 02/12/2020 19:20

We've been told to contact occy health if we get a positive and they'll arrange a PCR test, not sure how/where

CrazyBaubles · 02/12/2020 20:25

Why have you made your Pom
Pom?

Puss my little ceramic Christmas tree blew 2 bulbs in 2 days. I took it to my dad who said a connection was bent or something so maybe that's the issue with your lamp?

He fixed it in 5 seconds (and made me feel a bit silly for taking it to him) - but he also drilled a hole in the top for me so now it has a star too so it was worth it.

I am about to pick up my hook and get crocheting. @TheWoollybacksWife this is your kick up the arse to do the same Xmas Grin

Quick question for knitters - what needles do you use? I was gifted a 4mm set but they're really long, too long for me to comfortably use and I'm so so keen to learn.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2020 20:26

Matt Hancock clearly talking bollocks then! Unless he means the populace at large can't do lateral flow themselves, but HCPs can? 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/12/2020 20:43

I have not made the pom poms yet Crazy that would be far too efficient to be honest.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/12/2020 20:44

I am using 8mm for the scarves Crazy as I am using very chunky wool.

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/12/2020 21:25

Crazy I'm knitting and farting about here. I'm using 2.5mm for my socks but 4mm are the standard for DK yarn. You can get short length ones - I've got a set of short ones - I'll measure them and see if I can find any that can be bought individually that are similar.

pussycatinboots · 02/12/2020 21:36

I had a special short (about 8ins long) pair of size 8 the old version of 4mm which really were kids sized needles, but they went the same way as the pom pom maker cheers mum Hmm
I've got some shortish and some longish, but I cheat and use circular needles so I can't lose one BlushXmas Grin
2.5mm? ouch! 4ply? I prefer aran these days.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2020 22:17

Monsters. Just a tiny bit more cross stitch then dreaded outline and then I'm onto number 2!

Morning!

Terrible night's sleep last night. Couldn't get to sleep and now awake early. Today will be looooooooong.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 03/12/2020 06:55

Oh no fluffy hope the day isn't too bad.

We had sleet yesterday yesterday but heavy rain forecast all day today turning into snow in the early hours tomorrow Hmm it's not going to get above 3° brrrr

pussycatinboots · 03/12/2020 07:06

I'd spotted the forecast for snow Xmas Grin not sure we'll get any.

Fluffy, are you stitching right up until you go to bed? I find if I do sometimes I end up lying there awake, wishing I'd finished a tiny bit more and driving myself nuts.
