Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

I've emptied and cleaned the greenhouse this afternoon! Then dug a pit for the lemon trees as they were getting too tall for in there and rearranged the shelving units around them.

I harvested most of the remaining chillies, but we still have some ripening, including 5 scotch bonnet. I need to sow some broad beans at some point. Maybe tomorrow lunchtime. They can overwinter in there too, along with some new herbs and the trees!

Loving the Christmas tree Chips. Working from home today, I could not be bothered to trek to the office when I am on nights tomorrow. I have knitted some more of Dad's scarf in between calls.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 15/11/2020 16:11

Loving the gloves Crazy.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2020 16:40

They're such cute gloves, Crazy!

Crazy you need some googly eyes from hobbycraft for the ghost 👀 Xmas Grin

pussycatinboots · 15/11/2020 16:51

Firefly my 2 would look at that tree as a challenge.

I've googled Bunchems, fluffy Xmas Shock oh dear, my mum would have cut my hair off. Tease the knots from the end to the root, it hurts less.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2020 17:04

I can't even begin to describe how bad the knots are! DH has the sorting job though. 😂😂

I too would've had my hair cut off and did after the great chewing gum disaster!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 15/11/2020 17:31

If you google image bunchems hair it seems it's a common problem... Shock

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2020 18:04

It won't happen again here; they're in the bin!

She did lose some hair, as the knots wouldn't release. But using detangling spray and the Nitty Gritty comb means it's better than it would've been had my mother got her hands on it!

Wreck, DH saw a 16 Bunchem disaster on YouTube. Thank god this was only 2! 😂

They look like the toy rollers you used to get and got matted up in the hair Fluffy.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/11/2020 18:30

Ah yes! They were godawful!

Love the gloves Crazy

FireflyGirl · 16/11/2020 07:36

Lovely gloves, Crazy. You're so talented!

Hope the lack of activity last night/this morning means you all slept well!

It's grey and miserable here this morning, and I'm feeling really down about the corona situation, (we're going to be in the highest tier after lockdown, so our restrictions won't change and we're probably not going to be able to have even a slightly normal Christmas) so I've put the Christmas music on again.

Currently I'm listening to Paul McCartney's Pipes of Peace Confused I'll be honest, the connotations are not helping cheer me up!

Morning!

I ran this morning for the first time in a week, which is why I've only just appeared. It's straight into shower, breakfast, get kids ready for school once I'm back. They've just gone though (hurrah!).

I left The Ickabog under DD's pillow last night for her to find. She's already read 12 chapters!

Firefly, our figures have just gone back up after a few weeks of going down. I'm guessing from infections spread during a last hurrah when full lockdown was announced. I had been hopeful we'd exit into Tier 1 as we already had dropping figures but seems unlikely now.

It's frustrating, isn't it?

Morning. I've just been through my present cupboard and counted all the stocking fillers to ensure they have the same amount and also check ds' birthday presents. I have two stocking fillers and three main things to still get ds but I know what they are so that's fine. Have also had a couple more ideas for DH just need to wait until I get paid next week.

NerosFiddle · 16/11/2020 09:36

Morning.

Wreck what are you thinking for your Dh? I've booked a night away for us next March and got him boxers. I hope that's enough. His birthday is at the start of December too, to just make it harder.

I watched the crown last night. I love it! It's clearly for an American audience but still good.

BiddyPop · 16/11/2020 09:36

Morning all,
A dull grey day here too - but at least the wind and rain of the weekend has passed through. The leaves outside my window are barely fluttering, but there are barely any left after it still being fairly full on Friday….Another busy week ahead, including 2 Scout meetings (virtual) in the evenings (our County's AGM, and a Provincial "How are you all managing and can we share ideas" session) and a load of actual work meetings and seminars (everyone is getting het up about new proposals due from Brussels in December so we need to gather views, but its still all speculative).

I'm loving the trees already up. I'm just trying to tidy here (slow going) - but I might visit the storage during the week and get a few mugs out.

Poor DD and her hair Fluffy, I guess she won't ignore them again! And fair play for cutting your own 70s (and being brave enough to let DD near it). I'm thinking I'll let mine grow long again to be easier to manage myself (my hairdresser is getting much closer to quitting I think, apart from not being able to come at the moment).

Infections up here too, and lots of chuntering about no travel for Christmas etc. I am not making any plans for the season except that we will be at home on Christmas day itself, and hopefully see wider family over the course of the break but it will likely be day trips rather than sleeping there (so lots of driving and looonnngggg days!!).

WreckTangled · 16/11/2020 09:40

Neros dh's birthday is the week before Christmas. On my list I have: the north face fleece, Samsung ear buds, boxers (always!) and loungewear which I've already got. It's so hard as he always says he doesn't want anything and he doesn't really have any hobbies Hmm apart from moaning... anyway those things will be split between Christmas and birthday and will also get some chocolate and sweets probably just to bulk it out a bit.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/11/2020 09:44

DH's birthday is 23 Dec. He always says to not get anything. He also always gets underwear! 😂😂

To spread between the two events, I have:

A top for running from BAM;
12 bottles of beer;
3 bags of coffee for his Aeropress;
Undies;
A box of Toffifee (which have now gone down in price; bastards); and
A Green & Blacks tasting box.

I'll split them 3/3.

All these men with birthdays close to Christmas, what were they thinking! 😂.

I've got Dh an advent calendar, a Christmas Batman jumper and socks for his birthday.

Dd birthday is the 18th though so I'm out a small fortune in December

WreckTangled · 16/11/2020 10:20

I have ds', brother and nephew on three consecutive days in a couple of weeks. I think July is the only month with no birthdays. Actually it's mil's but dh should do that one really.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/11/2020 10:21

Why's birthday is 19 Dec!

Did you get the vanity table you wanted in the end?

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 16/11/2020 10:46

Morning everyone. I like to think (unlike a bloke with a birthday near Christmas) that I am easy to buy for. My daughter says I am anyway. I am lazily still in bed as I am tired from work and I go onto nights again today. I plan to do my present wrapping on Thursday so it is done before my annual leave starts at the weekend.

MarshmallowManiac · 16/11/2020 11:37

Morning everyone. Feeling a little lacklustre this morning as this situation never seems to get even a little better. Watched the 2 Dispatches programmes on Coronavirus last night so think that's what brought me down. Our cases are also rising in our area, and I am not sure that we will even exit on 2nd December in time for our long awaited Christmas. But still hoping everything crossed that this lockdown will calm the cases and we will all get to enjoy a festive time with our families. [santa] DD's partner's birthday is just after Christmas) and he is lovely so would like to get him something nice but can't think of anything at all to get him.

I am the same Wreck they all have to have the same amount in their stocking. Your DH sounds strikingly similar to mine it's really hard to find things for them if they don't even help you out. Angry

That sounds fabulous Neros I'm sure he'll be happy, can't think what to buy my DH at all. Sad

BiddyPop · 16/11/2020 11:48

On men who are difficult to buy for, DH had suggested an ipad which I was happy to get, but has now ordered for himself as it was "too expensive for Christmas". So I currently have pjs (for Christmas Eve), a credit card multitool, and a whiskey tasting set (3 miniatures). He needs nothing, and wants nothing. He may well GET nothing at this rate.
