Evening!

New thread here. Probably not needed until tomorrow, but it's ready and waiting.

Don't forget: Booths' Christmas ordering goes live tomorrow, so food porn will be online to view!

Boots, get your Cumberland PiB ordered!

Gosh, it's busy in here! 😂😂

Most thats so annoying but such a common thing. They need to find a way around doing this I think.

I woke up early which is really annoying.

We need to go somewhere today to buy balloons as dd popped the one ds got for being star of the week Hmm I want to go to the garden centre but I don't think they'll sell them? So we might have to go to the range. They're 30 miles apart so can't do both.

I want to watch Jingle Jangle this weekend as it's been released now.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2020 08:33

Morning ...... it sounds like they did have an internal candidate to take the role but (if it's anything like the NHS ) they have to advertise externally .

talking in his sleep (in what sounded like a foreign language )!

Ohhhh speaking in tongues (Sign of Possesion in The Exorcist) Halloween Wink

I was woken up early by the MaleCat demanding breakfast and the catdoor unlocking. FemaleCat was loitering but quite happy to let her brother do the work , she quaffed down the breakfast when it arrived .

I ordered a de humidifier ( I know , the glamour Xmas Grin ) we get condensation and I usually leave the bathroom window open but it's too cold now .
Still got to decide on my Christmas present ( not the dehumidifier !) but I'm stumped .

And I haven't found The Thing* yet
*The Thing is a random (usually from HomeSense) item I fall in love with and plan my table round .
Could be napkins , one year crackers, a jug with robins on.
Nothing this year has leapt out .

NerosFiddle · 14/11/2020 10:08

Morning.

I hate that they go through the rigmarole of advertising the job and interviews when they've someone lined up for the job.

I remember applying for public service job that no one could have had the experience I had for it. I didn't even get an interview. The person who got it was related to someone on the council 🤷‍♀️.

Is tomorrow stir up Sunday?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2020 10:16

22nd is Stir-Up Sunday Nero

I'm planning to bake on the last Sunday in December , I don;t do a rich fruit cake (more like a Maderia Cake with Attitude and Amarretto Xmas Grin ) so it'll have a pre-soak for 3 days then a couple of doses with a big cooking syringe .

And no bought marizipan. I bought some Sainsbury marzipan last year but when I went to use it (still in date) it was very disappointing .
Delias Almond Paste is the way forward .
Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 14/11/2020 10:25

Do you mean November, 70?

I'd have been furious about the injustice of that job, Neros!

I've not left the house yet. DH has had to pop out, and I can't leave the house unattended because I'm awaiting DHL. Even though I have requested them to leave it in the porch, it's been such a palaver that I'd rather somebody was here!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2020 10:32

Ha ! Yes , last Sunday in November
Though I could do next years cake on the last Sunday in December , if I as that organised Xmas Grin

NerosFiddle · 14/11/2020 11:04

I think I'll do it tomorrow anyway seeing as I got everything in my Sainsbury's delivery today. I'm the only one who will eat it so I might try Delia's creole cake too. I deathly allergic to certain nuts though so always have to adapt recipes.

Fluffy it was 11 years ago and I'm still annoyed about it. But I was young at the time didn't want to kick up a fuss.

70 might as well make 3 or 4 cakes, sure what else would you be doing the day after Boxing Day 😂

WreckTangled · 14/11/2020 11:05

I got told off in the range for using my shopping bag instead of a basket. I always do this in any shop when I'm just getting a few bits; take an empty shopping bag and put the things I was to buy in it and then pay. Never been a problem but the overly-enthusiastic-about-his-job checkout guy told me not to do it in the future as it looks like I'm stealing Hmm

NerosFiddle · 14/11/2020 11:11

Wreck that's a joke. I had to send an email to the range hq the other day. When we were in not 1 member of staff was wearing a mask.

FireflyGirl · 14/11/2020 11:15

I find it really strange as well, Wreck, because that's how everyone used to do their shopping when I lived in Germany.

DD wanted to cluster feed all night, so I've managed a grand total of 90 minutes sleep, and forgot to check out my final Morrisons shop, so we're getting a delivery today mostly consisting of cat food and pasta Blush God knows what we're going to have for tea, but I did include a bottle of wine so it's not all bad Wink

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/11/2020 11:57

Whiskas and Penne Pasta Bake might become a Family Favourite though Firefly

MarshmallowManiac · 14/11/2020 12:00

Morning everyone. Nice dry day, even have a bit of sunshine. Christmas Monopoly and lights arrived this morning, feeling extra Christmassy might try and write some cards this weekend.

It's a PITA and really annoying Most , sure something that's better suited to you will turn up though. Smile

Keep hunting you will find it 70

OMG Wreck what a jobsworth, where's his Christmas spirit! Sad

CrazyBaubles · 14/11/2020 14:57

I stopped posting yesterday because it was such a rubbish day I thought I may appear troll-like! After coming back on randomly, I was annoyed that DH had taken the last of the milk so I had no breakfast. Was moaning to dsis on the phone when my filling came out and cracked my tooth at the same time.
Luckily dsis was happy to bring me a temp repair kit (apparently this isn't an emergency at the dentist so they want me to wait until my normal appointment at the end of the month) and it turns out DH didn't take the milk - he found it in the cereal cupboard this when putting the shopping away, meaning I put it there after breakfast on Thursday Blush

Sorry about the job most. Hate it when they advertise to appear fair, it's such a shit thing to do.

70 as shopping trips aren't the same here, are you doing lots of online browsing? You never know, that may be how you find 'the thing' Xmas Smile

Wreck I put my shopping in my bags often because I usually forget the trolley coin and I don't often have a pound. What a jobsworth!

Firefly 😂 Takeaway for you tonight?

We've done food shopping and been to Harvester for lunch today.
I've (well DH has) broken my promise not to buy Christmas magazines this year. I was umming and ah-ing about it when DH came out of the petrol garage with this... (it was a good deal though, and I've never read a country living mag before so I'm looking forward to hunkering down with them) Xmas Smile

WreckTangled · 14/11/2020 15:03

Oh dear crazy are you deficient in B12? Quite common and a very common symptom is short term memory loss and forgetfulness. Hope today is going better for you, you deserved the magazines.

FireflyGirl · 14/11/2020 16:27

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

The cats would probably approve!

DH did Bolognese on Thursday. Bit bland Wink so I've tarted up the leftovers into lasagne (I do it with a tomato sauce instead of white sauce, as I can't be bothered to make dairy free bechemel). We'll have it with salad #exciting! Grin

Luckily, I'd checked out after adding the dairy free advent calendar and chocolate coins, so those have arrived.

Hope you're feeling a bit more cheerful today, most. It's their loss!

Marshmallow I wrote and addressed our cards in September, just need to add DD's name onto them and then post them on 1st - only just over 2 weeks away now!

Crazy it might be worth asking for your bloods done - I was extremely B12 deficient after having DS, and I only went to Dr's because I was tired and scatty.

Think you deserve your magazines, enjoy!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/11/2020 16:54

I think I'm going to look into B12 too as my memory is shocking right now. Probably peri, given my age, however!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 14/11/2020 17:03

I asked for a blood test the other day as I need one for my next hospital appointment. Had to use my medical knowledge/lingo to get through to the receptionist but I noticed the other day that the doctor has added B12 to the test, not sure I've had it done before but will be interested to see the result. Actually I asked for vitamin D and that's not there so what's the betting dippy Dora asked him to do a form for vitamin b instead of d Hmm

MarshmallowManiac · 14/11/2020 19:31

Wreck I am always low in B12 have injections and my short term memory is nonexistent. Our receptionists are dippy too, last week they gave us a prescription for some other child. Hmm

OMG I'm so jealous Firefly, seem to have been writing them all day, and have hardly got anywhere. Can't believe December is only two weeks away.

Sideorderofchips · 14/11/2020 20:11

My tree is up. No fucks given. Kids going to decorate tomorrow

My brand new 7ft tree with new lights. Going all out this year as its been such a fucking shit year for us

BiddyPop · 14/11/2020 21:02

Evening,
It’s been a busy day. Lots of fresh air (aka wind and rain!) as Cubs built shelters in the woods this morning. Managing hormonal teen going shopping in the afternoon and doing various essential shopping for DH and Dd (but fed her so meant I got to good wine shop en route home). Opened wine for adding to dinner so DH and I had a full bottle gone before dinner (rare relaxation evening - only another half bottle gone over dinner, and a decent glass was in dinner). About to watch a spy movie. And maybe sleep before getting to bed 🤞🤞)

MarshmallowManiac · 14/11/2020 21:09

Chips that looks fabulous.

Biddy glad you had a lovely evening. Flowers for dealing with hormonal teen.

CrazyBaubles · 14/11/2020 22:47

Thank you for all the suggestions to check B12. Will look into it more tomorrow and speak to GP on Monday.

chips I love the tree, especially the coloured lights Xmas Grin. Were the kids excited to see it up? I can't wait for my niece to see my parents decs this year - my dm loves the loud, light up, musics decs and niece is 2. I showed her my light up ceramic tree and now she asks to see my 'Kiss-Mess tree' everytime dsis facetimes me 🎄

Sounds like a lovely evening biddy

I'm just about to go to bed. I've had a productive evening - I finished the crochet Pac-Man gloves for cousins DS tonight. One thing off the list - but the cross stitch is definitely not going to be done until next Christmas!
