Thanks @TheGirlWhoLived for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Thank you @LutherRalph1

What's an Amazon Prime day? I have Amazon Prime but I've never heard of a day before!

JinglesWish · 28/09/2020 09:15

Just placed an order for The Ribbon Room. Thanks to the PP for the recommendation 🎀

tabbycat985 · 28/09/2020 09:16

In case anyone hasn't seen this, Amazon Prime day is happening!
Unfortunately there's going to be no way of knowing if things are going to be cheaper again on Black Friday😫

@dizzygirl1 Look for a reconditioned iPhone. DH and I just upgraded ours and sold our old iPhone 8s in perfect condition to a CEX store (I think they’re across the UK) where they’ll make sure they work properly and sell them on

JinglesWish · 28/09/2020 09:23

Thanks @tabbycat985

TryingtobePrepared · 28/09/2020 09:26

So not a discount as such but for anyone looking for Harry Potter type things Hobbycraft have potion bottles, and chalkboards in their Halloween section. Just bought a cute potion bottle chalk board for DD stocking, £2 and most bits fairly cheap. potions

dizzygirl1 · 28/09/2020 09:34

@JinglesWish I've never bought a second hand phone, always ended up with contracts or outright, it makes me nervous but I'd happily have just sim only as mine is £10 a month for 30gb data, unlimited mins and texts!

JinglesWish · 28/09/2020 09:38

@dizzygirl1 I wouldn’t buy secondhand electronics off fb marketplace or eBay, as you don’t know for sure they work properly, but I think it would be fine from somewhere like CEX, especially if you use a credit card, as it gives some more protection.

Raindropsonrosesand · 28/09/2020 09:42

@Furlougheddrinker - I think you can sign up for emails for 10% discount

lucysmam · 28/09/2020 09:52

@dizzygirl1 agree with the suggestion of CEX for a reconditioned phone. Most of our electronics are from there & the only one we've ever had a problem with was an HTC phone that the screen stopped working on (totally black screen but phone still worked 🤷‍♀️). They swapped it no problem & I actually got dd1 a slightly better phone that was a little more expensive because they didn't have another of the same in stock.

NerosFiddle · 28/09/2020 09:55

Was just coming on to say about prime day but I'm Johnny come lately as always 😂

TakeMeToYourLiar · 28/09/2020 10:01

Thanks all, Bruder it is

Now does anyone know a way we can find a bargain

Dolphintrainer · 28/09/2020 10:14

@TakeMeToYourLiar I’ve always found it cheapest to order Bruder from Amazon.de
With the postage added it still used to be cheaper. But my last order was a year ago and the landscape has changed so can’t vouch for now.

I know it was a spelling error earlier in the thread but there is a magazine called 'The Oldie', aimed at the older gentleman who still like a bit of wit and wisdom. They've got a couple of subscription offers on their website for anyone looking for presents for Dads/grandads. One offer is 3 issues for £1, then £22.50 for 6 issues. Havent read if you can cancel after the 3 issues. The other offer is 12 issues for £24 and 2 free books.
Must be easy to cancel the subscription, as Dad changes it every year so he gets the best deal!

CleanHankie · 28/09/2020 10:18

Link for The Oldie www.theoldie.co.uk/

Just had a nightmare trying to place a personal and gift order for Country Living plus mug. Got all the way through to checkout and order declined. Phoned number given and price was now £19.99. Also wanted to setup an account for my gift recipient- cheeky monkeys! So said thanks but No thanks.

dizzygirl1 · 28/09/2020 10:22

@lucysmam thanks for another recommendation for cex, may have a look and see what is available, just don't know when to go for it!

Elskerdeg · 28/09/2020 10:31

So if you spend £10 on items from small businesses at Amazon you get £10 back to spend on prime days 13th and 14th.

Also just bought a few bits of discontinued CYO makeup from boots online. Lipsticks at £1.20, great stocking fillers!

Maddie2802 · 28/09/2020 10:58

Lidl are doing 2 for £10 on dolls house furniture and wooden food.
They also have a 2-in-1 store front/ puppet theatre for £30 which is mainly wooden. They also have a toy wooden bbq but not sure on the price of that!

Smileatthesmallthings · 28/09/2020 11:01

@dizzygirl1All of my phones have come from CEX since having my son as I've been known to drop them and smash them many, many times. Only once had a problem and I was able to return it no issue. They come with a guarantee, and they have a condition grading so if you try to go for an A, you'll get a phone in really good condition.

PowerslidePanda · 28/09/2020 11:06

Gruffalo Little Library (4 books - numbers, colours, etc) is currently £3 on Amazon, down from £6. Good stocking filler for 1 year olds (which I'm finding to be a difficult age to buy for!)

4Minions2CallMyOwn · 28/09/2020 11:06

Boots spend £60 get £10 in Advantage Card points ends today

ScoobySnacker · 28/09/2020 11:16

Bit of a random one but anyone know where I can get Apple Pop tarts! They are a tenner on Amazon and I cant bring myself to pay that for 6!!

margaritasbythesea · 28/09/2020 11:18

50% off at Fangrrl (formerly known as Living in Lala Land and popular on previous threads) with code FIFTY until Oct 1st

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2020 11:20

I'm sure I've seen pop tarts in b&m. Can't be sure of the flavour though.
