New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

The run was made more difficult by the wind blowing straight into my face for a fair amount of it! But I upped my distance to 5k, and only walked - briefly - 4 times. So I'm already improving.

Biddy, at least your cake got made. 😋 Sorry you've had rubbish sleep. I kick - gently! - DH when he snores to try to get him to shift position!

I'm cold blooded, but heat really fast on exertion, then struggle to cool down. It's not good. I had a blanket over my legs yesterday while working.

The washing put out overnight is dry, I think, thanks to the aforementioned wind. DH can get that in later!

Morning everyone 😀
Lovely out here sunny and not too cold 👏
We are going to Cardiff to take things for Dd2 , she's waiting for the carpets coming a week Tuesday 😀
Does anyone know how to work a washer dryer. She wants one that will wash & dry in the one program. So she will put the filthy clothes in and hey presto 3 hours later they are dry 😂
It's magic!
Have a good day everybody 😃

pussycatinboots · 25/09/2020 08:57

Mum used to have one. You set your wash programme with one dial and your drying time with the other dial. If you don't set a drying time, it just does a wash.
She needs to make sure everything needs the same amount of time to dry and she doesn't over fill it.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2020 08:58

Washer dryers don't do either job well, IMO!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 25/09/2020 09:48

We've always had separate washer driers as combi ones don't tumble properly. They never used to anyway but things do improve.

I can confirm there's no panic buying round here. Fully stocked with pasta and loo rolls.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2020 09:50

I think ours is due to local lockdown, Wreck. Our figures have doubled in the last 7 days!

Thank you all for the information re the washer dryer that is brilliant 😄

BiddyPop · 25/09/2020 10:22

We found that the machine couldn’t cope with a full wash on dryer cycle so we either had to run smaller loads (not a hope with DH loading it) or empty out some after the wash and run the dryer, then run it again for the remainder taken out. So when the bearings went (see comment re size of loads...) we went back to 2 seperate machines.

FireflyGirl · 25/09/2020 10:36

My mum had a washer/dryer and her experience was similar to Biddy. Not much of an issue with 2 of them, but would struggle with more.

It's raining again here. Have sent DS to school in wellies, and I am inventorying the cupboards to do some stock rotation and sort out the Brexit/corona virus stash. I've struggled to decide on how to categorise, so similar things are in about 3 cupboards. That is all going to change! Does mean the Grand Plan is going out of the window, though. Always next year 😉

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/09/2020 10:47

I have to agree with all the washer dryer comments MrsMad If she's got a spare room she'd be better off with a washing machine in the kitchen plus a heated airer or two in the spare room. Even better if you get the covers for them as that circulates the warm air and is supposed to speed up drying time. They cost pennies to run. Ours sits in the kitchen and it's a bit of an eyesore but provided it's not overloaded it dries overnight. There are cheaper ones than the Lakeland version (mine was from Amazon) but Lakeland do various sizes.

I do tend to use the tumbler for bedding, towels socks and pants but there are 5 of us and it's a tight turnaround for school stuff so that takes priority on the airer. A couple of those over the door hanger things are also a good idea as she can put things like dresses/shirts/jackets and even polyester trousers on hangers on these. We have one on one of the kitchen doors and I hang stuff up straight out of the washing machine and it dries overnight as the room is pretty warm.

CrazyBaubles · 25/09/2020 10:47

Happy Rudolph Day. I have The Grinch (the one from the 60s) on in the background to celebrate. I've never watched this version before.

I've only had experience with one washer/drier MrsMad and it wasn't great, sorry!
I will say, I've never owned a tumble drier since either though.

Panic buying in force here I'm afraid. We're not in lockdown here (yet) but all surrounding counties are and it's imminent I would think.
DH is going food shopping after work in the hope it will be less manic than if we go tomorrow.

I'm slowly shaking off my cold and starting to feel better but I'm expecting to spend another weekend at home. Cabin fever is starting to get me though.

Woolly so glad you said that about the heated airer. I finally bought one a fortnight ago but haven't used it yet. I'm thinking of using it in the spare room where I work and hope it heats it up for me.

pussycatinboots · 25/09/2020 11:02

Mrs whatever she you decides to buy, get it from AO, they're fantastic. DO NOT buy it from Currys.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2020 11:08

We have a tumble dryer but rarely use it. We dry outside all year round and only use it if the weather is solid rain for days / if we're desperate for what's wet. Also to finish off our duvets when washed / dried on the airer (not heated). We always wash duvets when we're going away so they have time to dry before we get back.

We have a lovely coastal breeze here (Woolly and Boots may be able to confirm this it's the windiest bloody place I've ever lived in), so as long as it's dry, washing will dry too, even overnight in winter.

I'm going to the shop later. We shall see how bad it is I bought loo roll in the Sainsbury's in the village last night, just in case. DD eats it, I think.

Oh, in other news, only 3 weeks until the Booths' book. Does anybody want a copy posting?

I think my SIL will be getting me one Fluffy but I'll let you know.

It's official. The BBC want everyone to be organised

NerosFiddle · 25/09/2020 12:59

Woolly just goes to show, we're always ahead of the trend Grin.

I'm hearing talk of turkeys being hard to come by this year. Don't know how true it is though.

WreckTangled · 25/09/2020 13:02

Went into town earlier. It was dead, new look was bare. Pretty sure I'll be doing all of my Christmas shopping online this year as there's just nothing in the shops. Plus I got a really bad headache from being out in the cold to going into warm shops with my mask on. Couldn't go into M&S as there was a massive queue.

Pah. Amateurs! 🤣🤣
WreckTangled · 25/09/2020 13:11

The John Lewis in Southampton has opened its Christmas shop wonder if that means the smaller ones will follow soon.

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/09/2020 13:15

I know Boots. I was tempted to send a link to the article to a couple of friends who like to rib me about being organised for Christmas but I decided to be the bigger person.

In other news I have finally washed my front door. It's blowing a hoolie here so no doubt it will already be covered in leaves and rose petals.

pussycatinboots · 25/09/2020 13:24

Woolly for a minute I thought you'd taken it off to scrub it in the sink 🤣🤣
Blowing here too - DH is a bit annoyed as he'd brushed the leaves up this morning and I just asked if he'd missed some. 🤦🏻‍♀️

WreckTangled · 25/09/2020 13:41

I see more of Wales is going into lockdown and London might be next.

I got ds a thermos food flask in Sainsbury's. Dd uses hers for school lunch and he has been asking for one but they're so pricey usually, it was on offer for £13 though.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2020 13:41

All JLs are doing their Christmas shop opening today, I think, Wreck.

I don't need the BBC to tell me how to do my Christmas shopping. I'm years ahead of them! 😂

Neros, someone put on the bargain thread that if the abattoirs have to close due to Covid, there won't be turkeys to buy.

I think I'm going to get our Christmas meat sorted. Not like it can hurt to be organised!

Bloody windy here too. At least the washing is dry!
