New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

I can always give Fluffy my cross stitch tea towels if she forgets her project. They are so far down my to-do list they might be for next year.

Firefly I can get you a Tesco food brochure if you want.

My great nephew has a dairy allergy and I sent him a Candy Kittens advent calendar tree.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/10/2020 18:50

I'd forgotten about the tea towels, Woolly!

For dairy free chocolate, look at www.dairyfreechocolates.com. They have kids' and adults' chocolate on there. Our kids love them.

What a week! I am so glad it’s finished - or at least the formal work part. Only 1 speech for write and 4 papers to read over the weekend. And Cubs. Sleep is for the weak ... but I also couldn’t drag myself up this morning...

FireflyGirl · 09/10/2020 21:00

Thanks for the brochure offers - think I'll forsake Sainsbury's this year thanks boots, and hopefully DMIL will be able to get me a Tesco one Woolly.

For anyone who needs dairy free (and possibly by extension vegan) I was in B&M last week, and they had 300g bars of Godiva dark chocolate with either almonds or hazelnuts (or could have been pistachios - I had to hide them quickly as they're for DH, and then they got put in the loft with the other presents. There were definitely two different types) for £1.99.

Good luck with all that Biddy! Grin

76
Morning.
DH couldn't sleep so we're up with a Brew and he'll go back to bed in a bit. It's unlikely that I'll sleep now, so that's me awake for the day.
Joy.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/10/2020 06:51

That was me yesterday morning!

I'm also awake now, too early. At least I'll get plenty of sleep tonight as well always end up going sleep with the kids in a hotel room!

Oh, more biblical rain here, both overnight and just now (it has stopped for the time being).

Morning all. Sorry for being AWOL during the week. Dealt with two big first aid incidents at work this week.

Plan for this weekend is allotment, couple of nice walks and Christmas planning, I am so behind!

NoWordForFluffy · 10/10/2020 07:35

Sounds like you're being tested in this new role, Most. Are you bearing up OK?

Sounds like you've a lovely weekend planned. At least it's half term soon!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 10/10/2020 07:47

Oh no puss that's so annoying.

It's nice and sunny here today, DH overslept as his phone ran out of battery Hmm he's gone to work. Dd is going to a friends later. I need to mop the kitchen floor and do some washing. Might also do some baking.

FireflyGirl · 10/10/2020 08:20

A local farm has opened their PYO pumpkin patch, so we're meeting DSis and DN and going pumpkin picking later this morning.

It's been our early October tradition for the last couple of years, and I really want to do something 'normal' this year, especially as we are unlikely to be able to do most of our Christmas traditions!

It's usually quite busy, so I'm hoping the rain will put people off today, or at least until later in the day!

Did you manage to get any more sleep boots?

Sounds like a lovely weekend planned, most! Enjoy Grin

pussycatinboots · 10/10/2020 08:30

No more sleep for me. I've been sewing since 5 and am a bit cross-eyed now Grin the cats have been entertaining me by chasing each other and running up and down the stairs. DH snored through it all Hmm

ConstantlyCooking · 10/10/2020 08:37

76 I have the physical M&S food and Boots brochures and am now looking for the Sainsbury's one because their food looked good online. My Macmillan calendar has arrived and I have put it away ready for December Xmas Grin
I was in Morrisons yesterday and they had chocolate oranges and matchmakers for £1. I bought salted caramel matchmakers to eat in front of the tv a few hours later for DD's stocking.

pussycatinboots · 10/10/2020 08:43

CC I thought the last box of Matchmakers weren't as nice as they used to be, as if they've done something to the chocolate.

My Christmas Chocolate Stash currently consists of one bag of Minstrels and one biggish box of Malteasers. I really need to put some effort in next week Xmas Grin
Also only 1 bottle (already been opened) of Baileys. Blush
I'm not doing very well at all am I?

WreckTangled · 10/10/2020 08:46

I'll be getting hero's this year I think, especially as they have the mini double deckers in. Plus the orange segsations. I'm going to allow myself to eat all the carby food over Christmas, it's only a few days so I'm going to enjoy it

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/10/2020 09:23

Morning - I had my flu jab yesterday so had that achey joints thing going on last night , worn off today thankfuly .

I saw some huge Cadbury Selection boxes advertised Cadbury Double Decker Boxes (or something) they're £15 so I'd need to add if the VFM or if its just better getting a Bog Standard large one for the DC .
At their ages they won't scoff the whole thing in 30 minutes so I don't mind buying them their own bodyweight in chocolate Xmas Grin

And .....................................

Bought my DS (PFB) guitar Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

Went to the music shop with him, we were there about 60-90 minutes in all. He tried a few but really wanted the Fender Stratocaster .
He didn't do the Watnes World thing DENIED Cha Stairway to Heaven (thankfuly)

It was really lovely spending the time with him, it is something he has wanted for ages and e's been really looking forward to guitar shopping Xmas Grin . He didn't run riot in the shop , he stuck to his budget , but I reckon there will be more things to add to his present list .

NoWordForFluffy · 10/10/2020 11:03

Sounds lovely, 70! 🎸

My flu jab has been postponed as the pharmacist is ill. She said I could go tomorrow or during the week, but I can't get there, so I'm going next Sat. She booked me for 11.15, but said that they're open at 8, so to go anytime after that. It actually works well as it means the toy sale will be on, so I might get some bargains, if there are any left by then!

I don't know what to do about chocolate yet. We normally buy loads of biscuits, but haven't yet. M&S' aren't reduced yet. None of them. Bastards! Aldi do decent blag versions though, so I may get theirs instead!

OP posts:
ConstantlyCooking · 10/10/2020 13:17

Boots you have to check the quality of your purchases! I am slightly behind usual because I've been shopping online more so haven't seen things to pick up.
Fluffy Oxford Circus M&S had the boxes reduced slightly but I am waiting for the 2 for £6 as I get them for stockings.
70 the guitar buying sounds lovely.
Wrecked Quality Street used to be my Christmas indulgence (well one of them) but the selection has changed and the chocolate is not as nice so I might be forced to switch to Celebrations or try waitrose/M&S own brands. All recommendations welcome!

WreckTangled · 10/10/2020 13:33

I used to like the Sainsbury's ones as they had a popping candy one, but not any more. I only really like the orange and strawberry creams in quality street and roses, prefer quality street out of the two as it's dark chocolate. I may have thought about this too much Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 10/10/2020 13:44

Yes, I only buy them when they're 2 for £6! I'll check when I pick my niece's present up next weekend.

It's good that you know your mind, Wreck!

CrazyBaubles · 10/10/2020 14:09

Firefly I hope you enjoyed pumpkin picking 🎃

Sounds like perfect quality time together 70. I still have lovely memories of going with my dad and being allowed to play all the pianos (before being made to choose a keyboard so I could play with headphones on 😂)

We don't buy much in the way of choc - as it's just the 2 of us, if we buy it, we'll eat it so we go for quality over quantity (I also find if we get QS / Roses, we both pick at them when walking past) so I've been trying the Aldo blag version of green & blacks. The white choc and the dark choc with sea salt are lovely.
Also wouldn't be Christmas here without a tin of mixed biscuits and DHs homemade shortbread, and that's plenty for us.

I've been to town. First time I've been in ages and it was so nice, I meandered in almost every shop. Didn't buy much - I was looking for nice boots but didn't find any I liked - but I spent a lot of time in the lovely little craft shop and picked up a foam wreath and some Pom poms / baubles I'll be using to decorate the crochet tree I made a while ago.
Got back to find DH had broken my no Christmas magazines rule - he'd gone to the garage for something and picked up a present for me Xmas Smile
Pic attached of my present and crafty bits...

WreckTangled · 10/10/2020 16:46

Enjoy the magazine crazy!

We're having an Indian tonight, I can't wait. Dd is at a sleepover so that makes life nice and relaxed Grin I'm so hungry I'm counting down the minutes until the open (44).

FireflyGirl · 10/10/2020 16:47

Aw, he's a good 'un really Crazy Wink

DSis wimped out of pumpkin picking when she saw the rain, so we've rearranged for tomorrow as it's forecast clear.

I'm the only one who can have 'normal' chocolate in our house. I think fruit flavoured chocolate (apart from orange, obviously Wink) is an abomination, and I avoid toffees, so tend not to buy Roses or QS (although I could just send them all to you Wreck!) and get Celebrations instead, as at least that way they don't go to waste. But it's not Christmas for me without my Aldi Florentines!

FireflyGirl · 10/10/2020 16:49

Also, apparently there's an explicit version of Carol of the Bells. Who knew?!?

WreckTangled · 10/10/2020 16:53

Of course I'm happy to take all left over strawberry creams Grin
