New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

Crazy that's annoying about the glasses, but at least DH has been trying to mend fences. (And you know it wasn't aimed AT you). I hope your day gets a bit better.

MrsMad that's lovely about DH being a Hedgie Whisperer. They are around the area, but not in our garden so we rarely see them. (I'm not sure I should ask about "other talents"!! Grin )

Fluffy that is beautifully neat, but I see what you mean about the yellow. I can't do yellow in artificial light unless it's really bold/orangey. Enjoy the last 2 days!

Today, I am being good and getting things crossed off my to do list at work. For a change. I have a bunch of phonecalls to make later though, which will bamboozle me again no doubt. I'm also waiting for the chimney sweep to arrive.

So while waiting for someone to answer a question, I popped onto M&S to look at the food - very poor selection!! It seemed too little, so I looked at M&S UK site - there were 81 different options there, and only 43 for Ireland. (And 1 not offered here was a seafood "rock pool" including mussels from Bantry Bay, in Ireland Hmm ). The turducken and 3 game roasts are both off our list too.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 11:23

What supermarkets do you have, Biddy? Will any of those offer anything similar, as most do here.

I'm busy doing handover notes. Not many left now though!

Phone calls frustrate me. I'm very good at telephone tennis. 🙄

Crazy I luffs your snowman. He's going to be there keeping his beady eye on you while you finish the picture Xmas Smile he will not allow slacking!
Next time you're in the supermarket chuck a pack of nice tumblers in the trolley. DH regularly broke our naice ones, so I took over washing he wipes now and bought some cheapo ones which are still going strong. Grrr.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 12:18

Whoop! We're now under tighter lockdown. Yay. Lumped in with Liverpool again we're in Lancs, dammit!

Boots, have you avoided it?

Hello. I'm on a lunch break. Woke without a headache for the first day all week but it's creeping back in.

Fluffy what are your rules?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 12:34

We're not sure yet, but likely to be the same as the NE. Basically no indoor mixing, I think. And Rule of 6 outside. But advised not to mix at all.

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 12:55

Fluffy we'll hear at about 4.30 if we're going into lockdown again. We are sitting at the 3rd highest per 100000 in the uk.

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 12:59

We've got 12/100,000 but the county just down the road has 28/100,000. I just want to make it to half term with no closed bubbles etc. I've got a really busy month at work etc. After half term I'll be happy to have to stay in and watch Christmas films!

BiddyPop · 01/10/2020 13:05

I have good butchers locally, and there is an M&S food in the next village, but we also have a few very good delis (very busy but can order), and SuperValu and Dunnes as the good supermarkets. I had thought that this would be the year, and there is a nice seafood platter, but, I'll probably end up doing my usual and getting bits all over. And I might go to the local fishmonger and see what he can do for a special seafood dinner instead. I'm annoyed at the markup as well with M&S - something that is £50 in UK, converts to €55 as a direct exchange rate, but is being charged at €65 on M&S in Ireland. And similar on many items at the moment - they are seriously overdoing the exchange rates, both online and instore.

New rules sound tough, I'm half expecting us to be brought up to level 4 this weekend or next, which would also be no one indoors and max 6 outdoors. Talked to NDN this morning for 1st time in ages - we just haven't seen each other. Might do coffee tomorrow if it is fine, outdoors in garden. Gotta go sit at a seminar for lunch....

pussycatinboots · 01/10/2020 13:30

Fluffy avoided it so far, it doesn't include CWAC or Cheshire East, even though CWAC have been BEGGING to be included.Hmm weirdos

Wreck 12??? how is that possible 🤯

Waiting for the Surveillance report tomorrow - it could be quite fiddly separating the County in 2, so we might get dragged in like fluffy 🤷🏻‍♀️

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 13:44

It's always been fairly low here. Hard to work out why, it could be because it's an affluent area and people are spread out, nowhere is really build up, lots of people can WFH, lots of small schools, no big universities.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 13:45

We're on 174 / 100,000 and Liverpool is on 256 / 100,000 or so. Not sure of their exact figure.

Ours are still going up, but have stopped doubling on the previous week's number now, so that's hopefully a good sign.

I'm not sure whether my town is as bad as parts of our borough closer to Liverpool though. We were historically Lancs and they swapped us out for some reason. Nobody likes it even without Covid (and we're going back a LONG while too!).

Boots, I hope you avoid it.

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 01/10/2020 13:52

Fluffy We're in double figures still.
What is annoying is the figures are always for half the county and not just "our" area. Each half of the county was 3 separate authorities, we are furthest south, and the top part snuggles up nicely to Manchester and Warrington. Very similar to your town v borough situation. We may be in Cheshire East, but we are from South Cheshire

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 13:59

The figures I get are just for our local district council? Not sure what the whole county would be. It's all so confusing!

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 14:02

We're 324/100000. Tbh we need to go into a lockdown.

Biddy if you are looking for cheese this year try Tamnagh cheese. They do a lovely gift hamper. I get it for dh birthday every year.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 14:09

Ouch, that's quite high, Neros! 😱

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 01/10/2020 14:11

Neros It's obscene that your figures have got so high without being locked down.

Having said that, it's not really lockdown - You just don't meet in your homes/outside. The pubs, restaurants, cafes, gyms and shops are all still open. It's more lockdown light than a proper full on version we all had in the spring.

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 14:35

The pubs only opened a week ago so we can't blame that.

pussycatinboots · 01/10/2020 14:54

Is that wet pubs, rather than those who serve food too?

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 15:06

Boots that was "wet" pubs that opened last week. Before that pubs had to sell a substantial meal and you were only allowed to sit at a table for a maximum of 90 minutes.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 01/10/2020 15:28

What a day! Two positive cases at work. Absolutely exhausted from fielding calls from parents.

pussycatinboots · 01/10/2020 15:38

most Flowers Brew
neros that's not just a bag of scampi fries and a pint then, is it?😎

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 16:40

We are back in lockdown. All restaurants, hotels and pubs have to close. Schools will stay open for the next two weeks but then close for an extra 2 weeks at midterm.

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 16:45

Oh goodness neros I can't see anything that extreme happening here. People aren't complying with the rules that are in place anyway Hmm I keep seeing people on facebook out with friends hashtagging rule of six etc but there's no social distancing at all so what difference does it make?!

BiddyPop · 01/10/2020 17:33

Oh dear Neros, I hope it is a relief for you to see it happen. An extra 2 weeks off school sounds strong, but I guess that means the Executive think that this way the rates will fall enough to go back in person, rather than going straight back to online/remote learning.
