New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

Fluffy I may have been a little hasty.
We are apparently an "area of concern", then we'll be an "area of enhanced support" and finally an "area of intervention". 🤷🏻‍♀️ No - I don't know what any of that means either.
I'd feel happier to have a hard and fast lockdown than keep peeing in the wind.

CrazyBaubles · 01/10/2020 18:20

The difference in prices between here and NI from M&S would irritate me so much if I were you Biddy.
It's good you've got nice butchers and delis around though - probably better to support local businesses now anyway.

It's not easing up there is it most? My friend works in a primary school in your county and she managed 1 week before being sent home to isolate because of a positive case in her class.

That's a strict lockdown Neros. Sounds tough but I actually wish they'd come down on it hard here. Lots of flouting the rules all over the place here too Wreck

Work was full on today, I ended up working on a little again. My brain is tired but I should 🤞🏼finish around 3 ish tomorrow.

Mrsmadevans · 01/10/2020 18:30

Crazy glad you and Dh are on the same page again Flowers
I knew you would be you're so together Smile All of a sudden it's gone really cold here , has it gone cold with you too?
Oh God Nero it's awful for you love, l am so sorry Flowers
Wreck they are behaving themselves here atm anyway , whether that is because l am in a quiet town with a lot of retired ppl l don't know but l think it's quite probable. There was only 19 cases last week in the whole of Monmouthshire so l am keeping everything crossed .
Most Flowers

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 18:43

Hopefully a harsh lockdown will manage to stop it in its tracks, Neros. I imagine the lack of wet bars has meant gatherings in homes which has stoked the infection rate.

Most, I feel for you. What a nightmarish time.

Crazy, at least you get to finish early tomorrow. That's a bonus!

most and Crazy I saw this on another thread - government making legal provisions for school closures.

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2020 19:50

I actually don't think it goes far enough. I think the schools should be shut down now. But I could be on my own there.

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 20:05

We're got a weather warning for wind and rain tomorrow and rain Saturday and Sunday Hmm

CrazyBaubles · 01/10/2020 21:00

While I think sensibly schools would probably be better to close, I really hope they don't because then DH would be home and I'll kill him I quite like the quiet for work.

We've just done the family quiz and come second - again 🙄

MrsMad the weather seemed to turn here at the start of the week, I've been wrapping up in my fleece dressing gown and thick socks since then.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 21:11

Crazy, my slippers arrived today. You should get some; they're amazing!

We've had the heating on in the evening for the last few days as the lounge has been sub-17° by the evening. Chilly!

Our kids will still go to school if they 'close' like last time as we're key workers. We managed without last time, but we'd have sent them if we'd known at the start how long it would be!

Crazy we gave in the beginning of the week & put the heating on Hmm
I did manage to dry a line of washing today but it won't be put on the line again now until next year l suspect .
Wreck terrible forecast for the next 5 days according to BBC weather app for us . Criky l am a little doom mongerer tonight
On a lighter note
Yay! Fluffys last day tomorrow Smile

Mrsmadevans · 01/10/2020 21:18

Very nice toetoasties Fluffy they look just the job. Where did you get them from please ?

WreckTangled · 01/10/2020 21:20

Fluffy how do you and dh fit into key workers? (Not being rude, just wondering). I'm lucky our school didn't stimulate both parents have to be key workers for dc to go in because dh was able to work throughout.

No heating here yet but we've not had any frosts yet.

Mrsmadevans · 01/10/2020 21:26

Ohhh l found them ! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 21:40

I got them from a website called XS-Stock, Mrs. £17 delivered. Bargain!

Wreck, DH is a support worker and solicitors are key workers apparently as we further the cause of justice, or some such nonsense! We'd qualify on DH alone though, we don't both need to be KW.

You don't need a frost for heating, Wreck. We'd never have the heating on if you needed a frost as we rarely get them. Lounge below 18° = heating on!

We put washing out all year round. It dries too.

FireflyGirl · 01/10/2020 22:21

My washing won't dry outside until the end of spring now - there's a tree in the garden back way that the sun hides behind now it's lower in the sky, and we don't get your breezes, Fluffy.

I read somewhere this week about solicitors being key workers - hadn't occurred to me before then!

I had my flu jab this morning (thanks again for the Tesco tip off Woolly), and used being in town as an excuse to finish picking up bits for Christmas. I'm just waiting to see if M&S do their 20% off nightwear/slippers to get some for DM, and then I'm done (including stockings) bar DS's Santa present (which I hope he will choose at half term, when I'll propose writing letters to Santa) and the wrapping. I don't enjoy wrapping, but at least by then I'll be able to treat myself to mulled wine while I do it!

DS did ask me the other day, out of nowhere, if Santa was real Shock I think I bluffed my way out of it. Should have expected it, he's too inquisitive for his own good, that kid!

Mrsmadevans · 01/10/2020 22:31

Thank you Fluffy they are gorgeous and look so comfy Smile
Fire great work re the Christmas shopping your prep is fabulous!
Ds IS young to be so tuned into questioning if Santa is real Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2020 22:32

No, we're lucky with the breeze! Our garden is north-facing too, so it shows how efficient the breeze is!

My parents (and Why / Woolly, I assume) can't dry washing well post-autumn as they're so land-locked.

Sounds like you're organised, Fire. Good going!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 02/10/2020 01:19

It can be difficult to dry washing from Autumn onwards here Fluffy but I always give it a try if the sun appears.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 02/10/2020 05:29

We can't dry washing outside from October onwards due to a sheltered North facing garden :(

I can hear that it is tipping it down this morning. Haven't turned the heating on yet but think we will this weekend.

I am so glad it is Friday and hope today is a better day. I don't actually want the schools to close, I just want our headmaster to be more supportive and actually understand what the priorities are at the moment. Yesterday morning while my boss was closing down a whole department all the head could talk about was whether my boss had started his investigation into the damage to the boys loos which had occurred the afternoon before. It's unbelievable.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2020 06:23

Morning!

Most, your head sounds awful. He needs to be supportive. Arsehole!

Last day today! I don't have much to do, thankfully. My laptop for the new place hasn't arrived yet though. Hopefully it will! 🙈😂

WreckTangled · 02/10/2020 06:36

Thanks fluffy I didn't know that. Re heating I'm so used to the old crappy storage heaters I'm set in my ways Grin

Most I hope today is better for you.

My head hurts again. Final day of the course and exam on Monday. Got 100% on my first test paper yesterday and got another one to do today.

My washing doesn't dry outside in the the winter really either.

WreckTangled · 02/10/2020 06:50

Saying that, I've just got out of the shower and it was freezing in the bathroom!

pussycatinboots · 02/10/2020 07:25

most your head would annoy me. He'd also have been told to get a grip.

fluffy Happy Last Day. 31 years ago today was my first day in work as a quiet, introverted, innocent 17yo. How things change. 😂😂😂

CrazyBaubles · 02/10/2020 08:40

most your headmaster sounds rubbish. Is he on a different planet to everyone else?

Happy last day Fluffy! Do you start the new job Monday or have you given yourself a day or 2 off?

How do you remember when your first day of work was puss? I know I started work sometime in June 2001 because it was 6 weeks or so before I was 16 but no idea of the date (and that's not counting the work I used to do for my dads business in the summers from the age of 14).

I've ticked a few things off my to do list already this morning. Still hoping for a 3pm finish 🤞🏼

WreckTangled · 02/10/2020 08:44

I remember the date I started my job (just so happens to be increment day and the day after we got back from New Zealand) and I remember the first day of my job two jobs previously as it's my nan's birthday Grin
