G'morning...

I'm making Sloe Gin today in preparation for NEXT Christmas.

I think I need a prize Gin Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 30/09/2020 10:57

Morning all, it's impossible to keep up with you chatty lot these days!!

I haven't really looked for PJs yet for anyone, I need to start as DH likes shorts ones not long legs. (Well, I did look in our local primark yesterday as DD needs some, but its a small shop and they didn't have any nice ones).

I got so fed up and brain melt-y yesterday that I did go out to do a few shopping chores (schoolbooks, grommets from fabric store, looking in primark, lodging money in post office etc). I went into 2 shops for the notes books DD is looking for, no joy, but found a lovely hardbacked set of "Little Miss" books in 1 for my DGodchild in 1, and the GH Christmas Magazine!!! in the other....I hadn't been going to get it as I have so many from previous years, but there are no Good Housekeeping/Prima/House and Home/...type mags and I just want something to flick through. Especially as DH is working until stupid o'clock every day (he started at 5am this morning and will keep at it until 9pm tonight...there are 6 more weeks of serious pressure, and a further 5 months of significant pressure but it should be a bit less for that...he says....I'm almost sure I believe him....Hmm ).

But at least it means peace and quiet to sew in the evening on Mondays, and possibly Thursdays, I've been focussing on kitchen prep Tuesdays, and Wednesday is DD's hockey training.

I'd better get my head stuck back into my own work though. I started this morning with the task that was top of my list to do on Monday being 2nd on the list for today instead - they weren't kidding when they said this was a fast-paced section!!

BiddyPop · 30/09/2020 10:58

(And I did get back to working after my outing yesterday, and got the jobs for the day done - even though one more had been added while I was out for that hour!)

BiddyPop · 30/09/2020 10:59

Gin for lachy!!
My spot for sloes is near DMIL, so this year will be the 2nd in a row I can't gather them. Sad

FireflyGirl · 30/09/2020 11:54

@NerosFiddle those flaming buns!!

NerosFiddle · 30/09/2020 11:57

Thanks fire I got it finally!

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/09/2020 11:59

Brilliant Wreck! It's just the cost of the dressing gown £12. I'll message you with my PayPal

NerosFiddle · 30/09/2020 12:24

Biddy I used to always think penny's was better than primark. We went to down to letterkenny always but now Donegal is in lockdown.

BiddyPop · 30/09/2020 12:55

I think the Penneys on Panna (Patrick St) in Cork is the best on Neros but we're rarely there these days. There are a couple of decent large ones in Dublin (I'm just not getting to any of those), but Dun Laoghaire is small and old so much smaller selections of stock. I'm not sure if I've ever actually been into a Primark (maybe on a trip to London or Belfast at some stage). I just tend to refer to them all as Primark here to avoid confusion (I was grumbled at on AIBU a couple of times so...)

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/09/2020 13:06

All received Wreck. I hope he likes it

Mrsmadevans · 30/09/2020 13:21

lachy · 30/09/2020 13:51

@BiddyPop I have 2 more bags full in the freezer! If you're local (Bucks) you're welcome to them x

BiddyPop · 30/09/2020 14:50

Thanks lachy for the lovely offer but I’m across the water in Ireland. I’m crossing my fingers that we’d get to visit “home” over the autumn some weekend ... just being realistic about the restrictions

Looks as though M&S Christmas food is open

I haven't ordered anything from M&S but I've bookmarked a couple of things that I'll try to buy in store on the run up.

You lot are enablers so I don't really know why I'm asking your opinion but...

For my 18th birthday my parents bought me a beautiful fountain pen. I used it for my A Levels and it was stolen from my bag on the afternoon of my last exam. I think it had been in my possession for about 10 weeks. There is an identical one on eBay. Do I bid for it as a gift to myself? I have no idea when I'd use a fountain pen but I loved that pen and I'm talking myself into placing a bid 🤦🏻‍♀️

CrazyBaubles · 30/09/2020 16:09

DH bought me a fountain pen for my birthday a few years ago. I use it for Christmas and birthday cards and sometimes for my diary. I love it - bid now! Woolly Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 30/09/2020 16:12

My ex bought me a fountain pen when I passed the LPC. I sold it!

If it would have the same meaning I'd get it, Woolly. If not, then I wouldn't.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 30/09/2020 16:26

I would get it woolly

I can't write with a fountain pen because I don't hold my pen properly BlushGrin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/09/2020 16:33

Wow lachy that is organised I am very impressed. There must be some kind of medal for that level of organisation! I ordered myself a new coat the other day that came this morning, so I can wear it to work later. Two night shifts this week then I am back onto days again from Tuesday.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/09/2020 16:44

Are days less stressful why? Enjoy your new coat.

I've placed a bid. If I don't win it then it wasn't meant to be.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/09/2020 16:49

Definitely get it woolly, DH got me a really nice one for my 30th and I use it every day.

Sorry to hear about your kitchen fire, not what you need!
