Countdown to Christmas 2020 (Thread 11): The One with the Three Freezers

New thread again. Doesn't seem 5 minutes since the last one! 😂

We had roast dinner for tea tonight (was supposed to be Sunday, but I couldn't be bothered, then couldn't manage it yesterday due to the plumbing catastrophe. The chicken was dated tomorrow, and DS would mutiny if we didn't have fish, chips and beans for Wednesday tea, so tonight it was). It was also a test for an easy Christmas dinner. Went really well, except I forgot to do anything to the parsnips apart from slice them and stick them in the oven - no oil or anything. They were rather uninspiring! Must remember the oil/mustard/honey for Christmas.

70 the 1st is Thursday - I only know because that's when I have my flu jab #rocknrolllifestyle

How is your kitchen floor today Firefly? I'm assuming all is well if you did a roast today.

I'm delaying looking at Matalan Christmas stuff because I always love it all.

Currently cross stitching while DH works. I'm watching a very unfestive season 2 finale of The Fall. DH picked a random candle out of the collection and lit it. I've checked because it smells Christmassy - Gingered Apples apparently. It's lovely.

I'm hiding in the kitchen. I do seem to spend a disproportionate amount of time in here. It looks like a bomb has hit it. Someone decided it would be a good idea to bake and cook dinner at the same time. I have since learned that this wasn't a good idea. I have also learned that macarons are best left to the professionals.

However the kitchen now smells of Christmas cake and I'm sure the dishes won't take too long 😢

Crazy we seem to have been very lucky! The laminate is lifting very slightly, in that I can feel it under bare feet, but not a trip/stub hazard. If we hadn't caught it as quickly, it would probably have meant replacing all of the downstairs flooring as we have a through kitchen/living/dining room!!

Cooking was a delicate dance around the fan that we've had on the floor blowing under the units since yesterday, and the contents of the cupboard under the sink which currently adorn the worktops because I'd trip over them if they were on the floor as I can't currently see my feet!

Woolly mine always looks like a bomb has hit it when I cook or bake - I always seem to drop and spill everything!

Don't think I could cope with the hassle of having to deal with the insurers and getting people in to replace it. And drying out all the walls and the furniture if it seeped into them - it just doesn't bear thinking about!!

I know Fire the thought of it is bad enough!

yes Oct 1st on Thursday ( I blame computers at work , they date stamp everything )

We had a leak a few years back , upstairs loo into the Utility , luckily the electrics weren't affected and it did dry out itself .

I am hoping for a Matalan discount voucher/code before I go mad in the Christmas section buy a few tasteful decorations. I am also eyeing some red and white decoupage baubles on Brandalley.
I am impressed with your running speed fluffy- I completed couch to 5 k during lockdown and am trying to keep going but a combination of working late and miserable weather is testing my resolve!

I've said I'll pop into the office on Friday, so I'm going to go to JL to get a couple of decorations for the kids. I'm not looking at Matalan this year as I have enough blankets and I already got little tea light houses from Neon Sheep as well as my M&S bedding and then outdoor decorations elsewhere.

I watched Bake Off. I was thinking the other contender would leave!

Constantly I sent Matalan a tweet giving off that they never sent me out codes this time even though I've a black card. They said I'll get them out soon though.

Woken by rain and I have period pain to now keep me awake. Joy.

I bought DD a Smiggle rucksack as a Christmas present last night. She's more difficult to buy for than DS as it isn't all about the Lego for her! 😂 I'm annoyed at the postage as I could've collected from Liverpool on Friday, but it's still a price I'm happy to pay all in.

Most of my files have been taken off me now, so I'm a bit thumb-twiddly once I've done a final witness statement!

Crazy, has your DH got a power bank? And a wind up torch? Just thinking of a few more things!

Another day of zoom all day. At least I don't bs e to go outside. Third morning of waking with a headache I can't shift too.

Training, hopefully walking the dog in my lunch break (in the rain) then I have a bit of a manic afternoon and hopefully relatively relaxed evening - just washing, cooking tea and changing bedding to do.
