Here we go!

I've got a busy day tomorrow, so I'm starting this now, ready for when it's needed.

Woke up before 5 and it was lovely and dark lit by moonlight the cats made the most of it and ran around for half an hour before I fed them Xmas Grin DH slept thru it.

2nd load of washing in, we've had bacon butties for breakfast, I've cleaned the kitchen and DH is waiting for the sun to get on the back lawn (about another hour) then he'll mow it. Cottage pie and roast carrots for lunch.

I think I watched the first series of LoD...not really my thing.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/09/2020 09:48

For those that are rewatching LoD and know Liverpool, when you get to series 5 and they go to visit John's wife take a look at the skyline. We reckon it's been CGI'd in reverse. (Fairly sure they filmed it all in Belfast and then added the Liverpool skyline afterwards) - the Anglican Cathedral and St. John's Tower have their relative positions reversed.

I sort of agree about keeping children off if they are unwell with anything BUT would the school have the same policy for the teachers? Would parents' employers be quite so accommodating? How would it go with parents who relied on grandparents for childcare?

I do think we need to move away from the culture of being expected to drag yourself in unless a body part is hanging off. Its not a problem for me to cope with DS off school for a couple of days here and there as I am at home all the time but it would be a massive headache for parents working outside the home. My last boss was an arse used to ask me periodically if I could let him know if my D.C. were feeling under the weather so he could arrange with my colleagues to pick up my slack. They were middle aged men with grown up only children who had rarely done a day's childcare and they thought he was terribly witty. Arses the lot of them.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2020 09:51

That's the thing woolly I go into work if I have a bog standard cold. I know people who seem to have cold after cold all winter and younger children especially seem to have streaming noses for half the year.

I'm just hanging out the washing it's gorgeous out here. Fresh but warm and sunny. Next week looks pretty warm too 23°.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2020 10:40

I don't get paid if I'm sick (other than SSP), so I have no choice but to drag myself in. WFH will be great for those days where it's not working that's the problem, but the commute kills you before you get there.

I don't think a cold is serious enough to prevent work or school though, not in general.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2020 10:50

Same here mine always go in unless they Have a fever/vomiting or have had a really bad nights sleep due to the cold. I'm lucky I get one day paid carers leave if they're unwell and I get six months full six pay per year.

NerosFiddle · 05/09/2020 11:26

My two are constantly sick. Dd gets tonsillitis a lot and with it a 40 degree temp. She'll never be in if that's the case.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2020 11:49

I've made banana and chocolate chip flapjacks. I only had a small bite but they're so tasty.

MarshmallowManiac · 05/09/2020 11:54

Afternoon everyone.
Heading to MIL today as it is the last time she will see DD2 before she goes to uni next week. Sad Hoping for fish and chips this evening as we have a lovely fish and chip place locally near MIL which has won awards and has wonderful plaice my favourite Grin

The latter sounds lovely Biddy

Love LOD 70

Totally agree Mrs what they don't know won't hurt them. Grin

Your old boss sounds like an pillock idiot Woolly

We had bacon butties too Boots with Tiger bread. Smile

Fab cross stitch Fluffy

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2020 12:22

Did your lawn get mown, Boots? It's a lovely day now after starting a bit damp. We have two loads of washing on the line (one is the voiles and cushion covers, plus a few stray white / light items.

I've cleaned the bathroom and will do the kitchen next. I took a cleaning break to make fruity breakfast bars with the kids. DD won't eat them, but DS should! I'll do brownies with her later on.

I'll probably do the garden after lunch then come back inside to do indoors stuff. So much to do!

Hi folks just baking my daughter's birthday cake. Then followed by cleaning. Living the dream as always.

Have swapped my late shift for an early tomorrow so that pizza can be ordered for birthday dinner.

pussycatinboots · 05/09/2020 13:53

Why mmmm Pizza, now you're talking Grin
fluffy yup, DH just managed to finish it before it rained (about 11). 3rd load of washing in messy cook Blush

CrazyBaubles · 05/09/2020 14:59

I love that place most - just known as The Res here 😊

Love LoD Fluffy. I may have to do a binge before the new series but DH refuses to watch it with me.
The line "You have the right to be questioned by an officer at least one rank senior"always makes me smile!

I'm still working my way through Ashes to Ashes. The SciFi bit isn't really my thing but the story is good and I'm loving the 80s fashion & music.

Woolly your ex-boss sounds like an arse.
I had one manager interview me for a job a few years ago who asked me if I planned to have children and actually said "I know I'm not supposed to ask but we need to know if you'll be sticking around" Shock

I've cleaned upstairs, been food shopping and put it all away as well as popping out for lunch. Having a 5 min sit down now (cramps are killing me) before I tackle downstairs and DH does the garden.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/09/2020 15:52

Cleaning seems to be a common theme amongst us today!

I've filled the green bin with blackberries and raspberries. I got attacked by the bloody blackberries which need to stay though!

I've also pressure washed and swept the entry and side return. My face was filthy afterwards!

Kitchen cleaning after dinner as there is no point doing it before a curry is made.

I've washed and dried a load of washing. Had to iron DD's skirts as they're pleated Hmm dh took ds to football five hours ago and they're still not home which is annoying. I want a take away.

pussycatinboots · 05/09/2020 16:15

Wreck can you hang the skirt while damp and then peg the bottom of each pleat so it dries pleated? Should be enough to avoid ironing.

WreckTangled · 05/09/2020 16:30

Yes usually I get away with just hanging them with the pleats in place. I haven't washed them this time though it's just that they've been in her drawer since lockdown Smile

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/09/2020 16:40

I am really looking forward to the pizza Boots. Is it wrong I was nosing at the menu today 😂

pussycatinboots · 05/09/2020 16:45

why No, not wrong. What will you have? We've had Chilli Chicken with peppers recently which was v nice, I love bacon n mushroom too, or pepperoni. Although nothing comes close to the frozen Heinz Beanz pizzas of the 80s/90s GrinBlush

pussycatinboots · 05/09/2020 16:51

fluffy I've got a splash of beetroot vinegar on the ceiling - it's tiny, but I know it's there Grin DH hasn't spotted it yet Wink

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 05/09/2020 16:58

Probably bacon with mushrooms and a meat feast. My son can polish off loads of pizza. He is a mountain of a man who keeps sodding growing.

pussycatinboots · 05/09/2020 17:01

why yes, well, so do I - but only outwards Blush 🍕

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/09/2020 17:45

Anyine remember a frozen pizza that you put in a cold oven , put the heat on and it raised as it baked ? I am not imagining it , DH cooked one when I came home with DS as a newborn. Bloody thing burnt the inside of my mouth ( pizza not baby) but it was de-lic-ious

WreckTangled · 05/09/2020 17:50

I love take away pizza! We can't get it delivered here. Oh actually an independent Italian has recently started delivering here but it's ££££
