Does anyone have any experience of Oodies? The wearable blanket things? My daughter would love one, but they seem to be expensive for what they are. Anyone seen a good quality one cheaper? Needs to still be thick and warm though! Thank you!

I have this cheapo version of the Oodie. Very long, warm and snuggly.

Price was £17.99 when I bought it, now it's £19.99 which is still a lot cheaper than bthe Oodie! My DD loves wearing it, in fact I must get her her own.

@1stMrsF I’m not sure about roller blades? I was thinking probably 4 wheels to start with as I assumed roller blades would be too difficult if he had never had anything like that before? I’ll take a look at Decathlon thanks.

I second Decathlon roller skates. They are designed so that you can align the wheels either in a line, or with two parallel at the back and one at the front, a bit like having stabilisers. My DS has had the same pair age 6-7-8 as they have a ‘grow with you’ door design as well.

@BigEaredBob my kids say that roller blades are actually easier to get started on and a roller club near us that does parties are quad skate competitors but use blades for parties when they have lots of novices. The reason there is such a revival of the retro quad skates is because you can spin around on them, which you can't do on roller blades. So it may depend on what their friends are in to? As @Thenagainmaybenot says if you get the total beginner skates (depends on shoe size) you can do a hybrid. Great fan of Decathlon kit anyway - it's high quality and good value.

Delurking just to thank @STARE2016, @nicky2512 and @1stMrsF - just bought the family pack of Oodies for Christmas Eve! Love the patterns and the free postage even outside the UK. The set of four was reduced by slightly over half but still crazy money. But the patterns are adorable!

Love this thread! I've been checking here regularly and delurking to ask for recommendations for some lovely quality christmas stockings, extra points if they can be personalised. Our eldest dd received a personalised stocking for her first Christmas from mamma's and papas years ago. We've since had 3 more kids but haven't bothered (or had the money) to splurge on their own personalised ones . I think I might be a little early as lots of places haven't released their Christmas stock yet but any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Our DDs have been asked for a baby dream house for at least a year and I couldn't bare to part with so much money but its huge and decided to let them share one. It's £229 at Smyths at the moment and usually £280 I think it might go lower in flash sales but I didn't want to run the risk of it selling out. Hope the clicky link works.
