I ordered wrapples for Nieces and son's school friend in Argos for £4.25 each. Then the fingerling playground with 2 unicorns for £7.50 as a bday present. All on Argos

FrustratedMess · 24/07/2020 03:05

Sone alot this year.

Shielding, and thats one of the main reasons iv started online.

Opened all the arrivals today and 4 or 5 things need to go back, but cant go to the post office to return.... Pooooooooop

Jfw82 · 24/07/2020 06:11

@SodOffCovid my ds was 3 just before last Xmas and loved the duplo dire station with lights and sounds fire engine

If you do go down the Paw Patrol route I can recommend Skyes ultimate rescue helicopter. The entertainer have for £19.99 comes with 2 pups and is big enough to hold loads of them. DS absolutely loves it and my goddaughter had one for her 4th birthday as a big PP fan and loves hers

Thanks @Jfw82 that's a great idea. I think I need to get the playmobil out of my head, more than anything, I think I wanted it 😅 but I think he may be too young and the duplo is a safe option. It was probably a blessing it didn't come! Can save the playmobil for next year. Oh my god so many toys already at nearly three.....

SodOffCovid · 24/07/2020 08:14

What is the smyths toy deal that comes about Christmas? Is it 10 off 100?

PowerslidePanda · 24/07/2020 08:16

@FrustratedMess - If any of it is from Amazon, could you return it via a locker instead? (I don't know whether that's low-risk enough for shielding, but it's no-contact, at least)

BumpkinSpiceBatty · 24/07/2020 08:29

@SodOffCovid it's normally £10 off £50.

Jfw82 · 24/07/2020 08:29

Last September Smyths did £10 off £50 , £20 off £100 etc did exclude the gaming stuff - I used it to get quite a few bits. they might have done something around Black Friday too but not sure

SodOffCovid · 24/07/2020 08:42

Thank you everyone, that's been really helpful.... Bargainer in training here!! I've fallen for the paw patrol ultimate fire truck but may also get the helicopter for DS bday in October as its such a good price.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/07/2020 09:04

@SodOffCovid, my DS got the Duplo Batcave when he was 3 and adored it. Best present ever, apparently.

margaritasbythesea · 24/07/2020 09:49

There is a good deal on at Turtle Doves this week. If you buy a cashmere snood (which they call a loop) you get a free pair of fingerless glove and free delivery. Info here. Sorry for long link.

They are still not cheap but Stitch an Story have a sale on some of their knitting kits, like this scarf for a beginner for £24 down from £48. They usually have money off for signing up to the newsletter too. Might be good for crafty teen or a hard to buy for person.

hoopdeloop · 24/07/2020 10:01

Hot wheels hauler that holds 50 cats is price matched at Amazon. Apparently it’s the same at Argos, but stock is limited

Hot Wheels GHR48 Mega Hauler with Storage for up to 50 1:64 scale cars ages 3 and older www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MD1PNQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jmQgFb9Y2B60F?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

StarDanced · 24/07/2020 10:13

@SodOffCovid my ds (3) loves duplo sets. They are a suitable size so I don't have to worry about tiny pieces and you can keep adding to the collection. He has some disney cars duplo which he loves and generic bricks that he has fun just building with. I have got him a couple of duplo bargains for Christmas from these threads so definitely worth looking out for a discount.

SodOffCovid · 24/07/2020 10:16

Thanks very much. I've stuck a few bits on camel camel camel (another great tip from on here!) so I will keep my eyes peeled. I keep having to stop myself panic buying in July 😂 because things are just cheap. But God knows what this Christmas will be like Confused

WaterWishWash · 24/07/2020 10:43

Oh don’t panic buy. I fell into that trap when my two were little. Bargains galore and I ended up with too much and stuff that was too old. I think I’ve finally used the last few bits up last Xmas having kept them aside. It kinda sucks the joy out of the next few xmases when you know you already have that bargain playmobil or Lego set stashed away but actually really would prefer xyz which is now on offer too. I think I’ve realised there are a LOT of sales in retail nowadays so I don’t need to horde bargains as much!!

Also agree duplo is fab for a 3yr oks and you’ll find the baby uses sooner than you’d think too so win win as safe for both and you don’t need to watch them like hawks with tiny little bits. My 8yr old still plays with our big tub of duplo (even though also loves detailed Lego sets too). Def a brilliant toy.

princessbear80 · 24/07/2020 13:19

I’m only up to page 6 and will continue to read the full thread.

I found the thread today after something arrived this morning in the post that I ordered last year from these threads 😂
Chocolate spoon silicon moulds- god knows what took so long.

Thanks for the link for the ghostbusters playmobil. I’ve ordered 4 little sets. Not sure if they’ll be a Christmas present for DS or if I’ll use them individually for his friends’ birthdays throughout the year but they looked to good to miss. I also found discount code PRIVILEGE15 which gave 15% off.

FilthyforFirth · 24/07/2020 13:47

Just had an email from Jojo Mama Bebe further reductions in their sale, now up to 60% off if anyone wants a nosy round!

princessbear80 · 24/07/2020 13:50

Have caught up now. That discount code above PRIVILEGE15 is for IWOOT, should have said.

Brilliant, I bought one of them but all sets looked good. Missed out on the code, must remember to search next time.
Stompythedinosaur · 24/07/2020 15:25

Thanks for the tip about the Lego glamping set Serenity

That was on my list for dd2.

noodledoodler · 24/07/2020 17:16

Dr Botanicals has 70% off code JULY70, their rose hand cream is on sale for £4.99 so the 70% gives you it for just under £1.50
😀 (postage fee applies)

FrustratedMess · 24/07/2020 17:47

@PowerslidePanda

Thank you...

princessbear80 · 24/07/2020 18:02

I’m still working through my Dr Botanical’s soap stash from last year. Just opened a rose and rhubarb soap, it’s lovely! My sister loved the rose face oil too. Tempted to stock up on some more rose goodies but I really don’t need them.

I keep trying to buy more of the rose and rhubarb soap but it’s always sold out!
