Here's the new thread, you chatty lot!

Ah. There is a trick to Sainsbury's slots. You have to go on first thing and look for slots in 3 days time. That's when they open for non-vulnerable people. So today you can book for Monday and that's it.

I don't find them dearer particularly, especially not per kg. I struggled to make up the minimum order last week!

WreckTangled · 12/06/2020 09:33

Their mince was 50p more as were their strawberries. Grapes were 25p cheaper though. Maybe it balances out. It might just be that I always spend more in Sainsbury's because it's a novelty and I can get different things to usual!

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 09:41

I think it does balance out. And the extra Nectar points are enough to tempt me too! It makes Christmas nigh-on free when we collect points year round.

It's like that Winnie the Pooh story here - it's rained, and it's rained, and it's rained. I don't mind gardening in the drizzle, but draw the line at a downpour where it would be running off my face!

I do need to water the greenhouse, though and look for more peas to snaffle before DS spots them Grin

Hope everything is okay with @pussycatinboots. Think that's the first time I've @-mentioned anyone on this thread.

FireflyGirl · 12/06/2020 10:15

Wreck if you've got a mask, I'd wear it to your appointment. No harm in it.

Has your DD apologised so she can make chocolate cake yet?

NerosFiddle · 12/06/2020 11:30

Morning.

It's pouring down here. A day for the ducks.

I've been looking at some x stitch but the cheaper ones won't arrive for at least a month. I'll keep looking though.

Wreck I would wear a mask if you have it. When I had to go to a&e though they gave everyone a mask.

I've been getting my orders lately from Tesco or Sainsbury's. Asda was a bit cheaper but the quality wasn't as good. I buy mostly own brand stuff to try and save.

WreckTangled · 12/06/2020 11:43

Thanks everyone I will wear my mask. I have to go to Sainsbury's afterwards to get dds birthday card and wrapping paper. Bet the queue will be huge at 6:30 on a Friday Sad

Dd has just started the cake I've said she can do it all on her own (she's really intelligent but struggles with common sense and is incredibly messy!)

FireflyGirl · 12/06/2020 12:34

Neros Amazon have some small kits for about £2.50-£3, delivery next week. Search 'mouseloft'.

Hobbycraft (Notes, if you have one near you) and small haberdashery shops usually have them in as well.

NerosFiddle · 12/06/2020 12:59

Thanks Fire. I've ordered this one

FireflyGirl · 12/06/2020 15:25

Aw, that's cute Neros.

While I was looking for you, I found one of a dragon and its egg. DS is listening to The Boy Who Grew Dragons on audiobook, and he'll love it. It's small enough it'll only take a night or so. That's my excuse, anyway... Grin

FireflyGirl · 12/06/2020 15:27

This one!

OMG @NerosFiddle l ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT Smile
@WreckTangled I bet Dd will do a brill job and the choc cakey will be delicious ! Smile another vote here for you to wear your mask too Smile
@NoWordForFluffy have not see glace cherries for ages either , l want some now , not for any reason just l want some too Grin not seen @pussycatinboots for a couple of days now , l am starting to worry now too Hmm 'TIME'S UP BOOT REPORT BACK TO BASE!' You have worried us enough now!
@FireflyGirl not rained here yet today in fact it was very nice earlier but just as l am typing , it's gone really overcast and much colder , hey ho Hmm
I am watching A place in the sun .......ahhh just lovely Smile

Mrsmadevans · 12/06/2020 15:32

@FireflyGirl Ds will love that , they are so cute !

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 18:10

Loving the mini cross stitches!

I've just been to locate tuna sandwiches from the shop for our picnic on Sunday. Only took 2 shops. 🤦‍♀️

It's quite muggy here now. I think we're done for rain today now though.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 12/06/2020 18:50

It's still pizzling down here. We've had about 6 inches over the last week, and the gutter from one side of the greenhouse has filled 1.5 buckets today.

I used water out of the water butt to water the greenhouse, and it's nearly filled back up already! And we're forecast a thunder storm overnight and into tomorrow morning. Bit different to 10 days ago!!

WreckTangled · 12/06/2020 19:42

I got caught in a really heavy shower coming out of he hospital!

Fluffy we love a tuna sandwich. Baguettes are our favourite.

There's something wrong with WreckCat. Yesterday he was having trouble jumping up and this afternoon he won't even attempt it. I've checked his back pads, wiggled his hind legs and poked around a bit and he hasn't flinched so I'm not sure what it could be. Will phone the vets Monday if he's no better.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2020 19:59

DH and I had the AntiBody Blood Test today then went to the supermarket to get a couple of things ( soya milk , bread)
They had a cordoned off queue area, gel+ trolley clean.
One way arrows, no entry aisles......but people were just milling about , ignoring the directions, ignoring the SD spacing , very few in masks.

I couldn't get out quick enough.
I'm not risking my life at work to get infected in shops Hmm

Actually Tesco is far far more generous with Clubcard rewards than Sainsbury is with Nectar .
I know we're halfway through the year and I usually ramp up my total with Bonus Nectar Points.
Been online shopping since Lockdown , I reckon I spend less , a bit .

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 20:19

70, I don't agree re Clubcard. The new way of collecting Nectar has made a massive difference for us. Tesco don't do bonus points in the same way. Since January, when we were at £20 of points, we've earned over £100 in points, and that's not even doing a massive shop or even shopping every week. Or buying petrol (no Sainsbury's petrol station here). I'd never earn that many Clubcard points that quick.

Did you get your antibody test via work?

Firefly, you have our rain. It's really not been that bad here at all! It's a weird year!

The kids adore a tuna sandwich from either Sainsbury's or Tesco, Wreck.

I hope your cat is ok. Poor puss. Odd that he doesn't seem to be in pain though. Hopefully it's nothing sinister.

WreckTangled · 12/06/2020 20:20

70 out trust is rolling out antibody testing from Monday. I'm going to have one even though I'm sure I haven't had it.

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/06/2020 20:42

I'm intrigued by Nectar vs Clubcard. I'd be very interested to see how Sainsbury's stack up against Tesco. My Clubcard points for the last three months were worth £19 at a spending rate of £100+ pounds per week. I used to use the rewards for meals out but at the current rate I think I'm going to have enough Clubcard points to pay for a whole beef fillet (or most of one anyway) which should give us steak for Christmas Eve dinner, a roast for New Years Day and enough for at least one other meal.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 20:51

That's rubbish, Woolly. Like I said, we've earned £11 in bonus points in as many days. We sometimes get paid to buy a pepper or something like that (100 bonus points - 50p -on a 43p pepper, that kind of thing). It works really well. We spend about £40 a week in there and it's ramping up nicely!

Oh, if anyone you know gets the Daily Mail, you get points that way too (my dad buys it!).

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 12/06/2020 21:19

@WreckTangled oh love l so hope 'Wreckcat' is ok , bless his beautiful self , he's so gorgeous Flowers
Sains bonus points are excellent tbf Fluffy l think they take some understanding though , God knows l am not the best with them mark you Hmm
Woolly & 70 Tesco clubcard used to be very good but they have really gone off the boil now imho but l don't want to fight you for it
Grin That reminds me of AMY's MUM Pat in ELR when she was found out for smoking and she told Amy's Dad 'if l didn't smoke l might have to fight you' l loved that programme Smile
Couple that with the prices they have ramped up and they don't seem much cheaper than Waitrose. Aldi do seem to have mostly stayed stable though.
70 that's brill you got antibody tests , l hope you are both immune and then you too can mill about in the store , mask free without a care in the world Smile
@FireflyGirl iwas going to offer you some more rain love but I see you have got Fluffy's share as well lol Grin

Elephantonascooter · 12/06/2020 21:21

Started my xmas shopping today! Bought DS a peppa pig etcha sketch. It was on the 2 for 15 in argos as were the puzzles I was buying him for a rainy weekend indoors. We've also opened our money pot for the baby so hopefully we will have thought ahead for most things! It's going to be a busy 6 months for us from Sept onwards!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2020 23:30

My Nectar Points for this year (I spend them all Mid Dec) is less than £60 . For all my effort and faithfullness to Sainsbury .

I don't really go into Tesco , DH does on his way home (Tesco Metro so only small bits) I usually buy petrol in Sainsbury or Costco .

I have £15.50 Clubcard rewards on my fridge .

So if I id all my shopping there I reckon I'd get more than Nectar.

But I prefer Sainsbury and the Delivery site is easier to wrangle.

IIRC the results 7-10 days., got it through work ( face contact HCP)

NoWordForFluffy · 12/06/2020 23:57

70, where are you going wrong with the bonus Nectar points? If you do that right (and have a card each, linked to the same account), you'll knock Tesco into a cocked hat.
