Fox looks lovely Most Smile enjoy it!

Mustbethewine · 10/06/2020 19:56

@NoWordForFluffy here's a photo for it. It looks wonderful. You get 10 designs and for just under £6. Bargain.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/06/2020 20:06

@Mustbethewine, I can't see a photo! Xmas Sad

Evening.

The app was playing up this morning so couldn't post.

For those that cross stitch, is it easy enough to pick up? After seeing all yours I'd like to take it up.

Mustbethewine · 10/06/2020 21:24

@Nerosfiddle yes! I've completed two and I'm a beginner. You can purchase the cross stitch with the design printed onto the fabric so it's easier to follow

FireflyGirl · 10/06/2020 21:58

Nero it's really simple, and there's so many different designs you can easily find something you like. You can get small kits for a couple of £/€, to see if you enjoy it.

Spent the afternoon at the allotment tackling the weeds. The thistles are just crazy, I blink and they're a foot tall, everywhere! I've only had about half of the potatoes/onions come through, but they were a bit of an experiment so I'm not too heartbroken.

We've had a lot of rain over the last week - my butt at home is full again, the ones at the allotment need tweaking to catch more. But the best part is how easy it is to pull the weeds out now!!

I'm going to put the rest of the plants in this week - wish me luck! Grin

I ate my first homegrown peas today. Don't tell DS - I sneaked them when he wasn't looking because I really wanted them and he gets all the strawberries Blush #terriblemum

We've been getting lots of oranges in our fruit and veg box, so I've been using my cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the peel ready for threading onto string at Christmas. And I made rock buns with mixed spice the other day, they smelled very Christmassy!

I'm now craving Christmas morning muffins... Think they might be my next project!

Fluffy you make them, don't you? Do you know if they freeze well?

FireflyGirl · 10/06/2020 22:02

Also - nice histamine reaction to the thistles! This is 7 hours afterwards! You can see the line where my gloves finished 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 10/06/2020 22:51

Ouch, Firefly. I get stung loads!

Our peas are still at mange tout stage. Another week or so until the kids get going on them!

The Christmas muffins freeze brilliantly, yes. 😁 DS adores them!

Neros, the biggest challenge with the cross stitch is counting accurately! Blush

I've done one of each character now on my baby sampler. The owl is my favourite, I think.

Fire Shock THAT LOOKS ITCHY! Flowers
Nero would love to do it too but l haven't got the the eyesight for it now , l would be bent over the frame like an old woman Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/06/2020 06:09

Ouch fire!

Cross stitch is easy Nero it is just counting and the one I have at the mo with the design printed on doesn't even require that!

Love the sampler fluffy. I did this one when pregnant with DS and if my friend ever become pregnant will find one to do for her :)

Most, that's the one I did for DD! I did them for Why's children, then for mine, then got into it as a hobby about 18 months ago.

The weather looks a bit changeable for the next week. Typical as we have tickets booked for outdoor places! And DD's birthday is coming up. It was cold and wet the day she was born, so I shouldn't be surprised!

Oh that's cute fluffy!

WreckTangled · 11/06/2020 08:09

Wfh until Tuesday now. Got a phone appt with diabetes team this morning and a routine hip X-ray tomorrow. Food shopping coming tomorrow too ££££ might have to move some money from savings into our bill account as it's costing so much. Or use my birthday money.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/06/2020 08:51

Our food is costing a fortune, Wreck. Not helped by me being lured to buy a Morrison's shop today by their pizza and prosecco for £5 offer! That, combined with a free delivery pass, means I've bought stuff I possibly wouldn't have bought yet.

I also spent £20 at an online whole foods place as it's the only place I could find light soft brown sugar (and I got 2kg of free sunflower seeds, which we use in bread).

I'm starting to plan my Christmas ingredients, so don't want to be left short!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/06/2020 08:53

I'm annoyed there's no chocolate chips available as I wanted to make your cookies!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/06/2020 08:54

Our food shop has gone up considerably too, we did use to eat out a lot though so it balances out overall.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/06/2020 08:54

I'd use a bar and chop it up in that case.

Brown sugar and chocolate chips are definitely shortage items. It's odd!

OP posts:
Mustbethewine · 11/06/2020 09:02

@NoWordForFluffy same in this household. What we spend on food has shot up considerably.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/06/2020 09:07

We always chop up a bar for ours wrecked, one melted on the oven you can't really tell any difference :)

WreckTangled · 11/06/2020 09:22

I've already got three bars of chocolate in the shop because I want to make a tiffin Grin maybe I'll leave the cookies for the following week 🐷
