Glad to hear you are back home Woolly and I hope the pain eases soon.

Had a wonderful afternoon in our friends' garden having a delicious BBQ. Then DH ran me a lovely bath :)

Mrsmadevans · 05/07/2020 22:01

Ahhh Most that sounds divine Smile well done Dh Smile
Nero thank you, l do feel a bit like l have been floored tbh Smile
l also don't drink much because although l like a drink , it doesn't like me! Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 05/07/2020 22:22

It's done! I finished just as the kids were going ups to bed, so I've had a night off too, before starting my next one tomorrow!

Firefly, we have an estate car now and love it. Still fill the bloody thing though!

Woolly, how long are you in the sling for? I hope you can sleep OK with it on.

Neros my list is pretty simple:
5 door
Manual
Minimum 370l boot
Air con
Automatic lights
Turbo
Good fuel economy

It's more about how it feels - I have an extra vertebra in my lower back and some seats make it ache, and I am short so if the pedals are quite low, I have to sit closer to the steering wheel so I can reach.

Fluffy DH's car is an estate. His boot is always full of crap!! Love the cross stitch, puts my efforts to shame!

MrsM honestly, I would have just gone for another Astra but DH asked me to look at other options. Tbh, I think the Astra is one of the cheaper models anyway!

WreckTangled · 05/07/2020 23:31

Neros I've always had dioralyte before bed when drinking. I don't really drink these days though, I can count on one hand the times I've drunk this year and most of those yikes was only one drink.

Fire we used to have an Astra and I really liked it, I like the Astra estates. Dh has an Astra van, although it's older (2007) it's never had anything wrong with it in the time he's had it.

It's really hot here I'm struggling to sleep.

MarshmallowManiac · 06/07/2020 00:11

Glad to hear you are home again Woolly and I hope you are starting to feel better Flowers
I play guitar too 70 but not for many years, must get it out of the loft.
Had quite a productive weekend ironing, cleaning, gardening but back is breaking now so thought I would relax for a while and also see how everyone is.
Also looking at Christmas cards on Amazon atm to try and get ahead. My favourite Christmas films would be Polar Express and Christmas with the Kranks, imo a must watch with a bucket of Baileys whilst wrapping. Grin

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2020 07:29

Morning everyone 😀
Fire Dh used to be a Ford Focus man for years but this time we went for a Hyundai and it's just lovely. Very pleased with it.
Well done with the cross stitch Fluffy love it so pretty. 😀
Better shift off to Cardiff to see Dd2 2 house , hopefully it won't be long before it is hers 😀

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 07:55

Still breezy! It's meant to die down during the day. The dark washing is on the line and the towels are washing. Most of the first lot will be dry before they're ready, though there's room for both.

We have a Volvo estate. I feel like a bit of a stereotype what with the allotment and occasional shopping at Booths! 😂😂

Your DD must be so excited about the house, Mrs!

NerosFiddle · 06/07/2020 09:11

Fire have a look at Suzuki s cross. It's a small suv but has good boot size and it's comfortable. I like it because I'm a short arse and it helps to see 😂.

Dh is away with work for the week. I'll not know what to do.

pussycatinboots · 06/07/2020 11:19

Firefly my dad "gifted" me his knackered Astra Estate ("Thunderbird 2" as it was green) when it was about 10 with 95k on the clock...DH ran it for work for 8 more years and got it to 170k. The mechanic sold it when we bought the Polo and he got £300 for it Grin I let him keep the money, as by that point it had spent more time with him than me...
We've always had Ford Focus Focii? until we didn't need bigger cars and swapped down from the Astra estate to a Polo and the Focus to a Fiesta.
Our mechanic mate recommends Honda & VW for build quality, and Ford & Vauxhall for ease of getting parts (he also mentioned Brexit, and the supply chain for parts for European cars)
Bear in mind the seating positions if you are going to drive each others cars. We can swap Fords easily DH is a foot taller than me BUT both VW and Vauxhall I'd have to "pump" the seat up to see out Blush and DH would have to "deflate" it to get his bloody long legs in Grin
Also - Seat, VW and Skoda are all VW under the skin - if you want something smaller it'll be based on a Polo and medium sized is based on a Golf.

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/07/2020 11:27

Fire I've got a Seat Ibiza. I can get the five of us in for short journeys but it's very comfortable for 4. Boot is decent but small compared to the Honda Jazz I used to drive. I could get a travel system and a week's shopping in that little beauty. The only thing that it didn't have from your list is automatic lights but it was a 55 plate. Maybe newer versions have them.

DD1 has a Corsa Griffin. She loves it and of course the Griffin versions came with all the bells and whistles. I know there's an Astra version but I can't speak for boot space.

MrsMad have fun at DD2's house.

Must go - these episodes of The Repair Shop won't watch themselves.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/07/2020 17:35

Honda Jazz has a huge boot , I had a look at one when I was car buying ....but it was an automatic and I wanted a manual.

I used to drive a Suziki , very reliable but a bugger to get any spares for .

I've had Nissans since then, onto Nissan number 4 (Nissan 1 went to Heaven through no fault of his own)

My DS doesn't like my present motor unless he's in the front . We very rarely go out all 4 of us , so I usually have to dump DH and DD in the back (who are shorter than DS)
I am the ShortArse in the family but I'm The Driver so I get to choose my seat Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 06/07/2020 18:15

Dh just found my Rex London order outside the back door. I haven't had a dispatch note.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 18:26

Oh, I wonder if that's the mystery 'We've got your parcel' message from Hermes I got yesterday, Wreck? Pretty poor to leave it by the door though.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 06/07/2020 18:34

It's Royal Mail. If it was Hermes it would have been on my front door step Grin I can't open it until the dc are in bed which is upsetting.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 18:36
Grin

We're lucky that we have a porch which all delivery people put parcels in!

Just looked on the QVC TV Guide

Christmas in July is on the 24rh this year (not 25th)

Maybe they don't want to "waste" a Saturday . CiJ has steadily gone pants over the last few years .
It used to be brlliant , I used to make sure I was on leave .
Then they started getting all the Clearance tat out of hibernation rather than new USA imports Xmas Sad

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 20:53

That's DS' birthday (complete with his Christmas-themed cake, at his request!). We're off out to the pub. And maybe the beach during the day.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/07/2020 21:31

I dug my Christmas Planner out! I always start so well with it but trail off, this year I am determined though.

Xmasfairy86 · 06/07/2020 22:35

Ooh. I’m expecting a RexLondon package - haven’t had a despatch note yet though.

KVlovesWinter · 06/07/2020 22:43

Evening

Have had a really busy few days sorting out the bedrooms wish I'd never started 😁 have got 3 bags of clothes to donate to the charity shop and 6 bags of toys, games and dvds to sell and give away plus a bike and scooter to find a good home for.

Has been quite a nice warm day today but still so windy, not as bad as yesterday though.

Have been doing some more lists in my Christmas planner I'm determined this year to be organised for a change

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2020 22:47

Dd2 house was lovely , we haven't seen it for 16 weeks , it's been on hold that long! Then we went to look for a sofa for her but we still can't order it yet Hmm. We funnily enough went to Motorpoint after all the talk about cars Grin looking for a car for Dd2 as well, for when she leaves home but we didn't see anything and we are not going to worry too much about it because she is working from home till mid Sept . She did sit in an Aygo play which she liked & a Hyundai i10 which she also liked. So we shall see Smile
Fluffy l did 2 loads of washing & drying again today ! Grin
NDN is home from hospital, we welcomed him home from a safe distance , hopefully we can go and see him soon Smile
Dh dropped the frying pan and the hot fat went all over the kitchen floor Grin ahh bless him , about 2 hours later he broke the glass salt grinder and it shattered all over the kitch again Grin
Hope everyone is fine , the cross stitches are lovely , hope you are doing as well as you can be Woolly Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 22:55

Ah, when I logged into my Rex account there's a RM tracking number allocated to my order. It can't be tracked yet though.

The Hermes one must be a book for DS' birthday.

Well done on the washing, Mrs! As soon as DD2 exchanges you can order the sofa. Been there, done that!

Your DH has a touch of the dropsies today!

I'm rubbish at planning. I never follow my plans! 🙈😂

Xmasfairy86 · 06/07/2020 23:00

I make lists fluffy, and promptly lose said list 🙈

Poor hubby mrs - it’s really not his day is it 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 06/07/2020 23:09

I don't even lose them. I just go off piste, to the extent I might as well have not bothered! I think my non-work brain rebels against my very organised work brain and sends me wappy!
