I have my GM engagement ring (1923) in its original box James Porter and Son in the Argylle arcade .

They don't do on-site valuations or I would've taken it in (for insurance , not to sell Grin )

pussycatinboots · 22/04/2020 22:05

They might give you a valuation just on the original box!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 22:09

Next time I travel up there I'll take it with me , even if it's to have the Hallmark read and have it checked .

It's 5 small diamonds in a row , the ring fits my middle finger loosely so I don't think I'd wear it . not without one of those silicone bands .
Never saw GM wear it but her hands were quite arthritic .

Mrsmadevans · 22/04/2020 22:19

Ohh am loving the Michelle Mone WAG rings Grin Boot & 70
Vere vere reasonable too Grin
Note to self, need to watch QVC Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 22:38

I love QVC ( or now as they call themselves the Q ) but some of the presenters get on my tits very last nerve .

Mute button if I really want to watch the presentation.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2020 23:14

I'm not a bling / jewellery fan and I don't like jewels that stick out (I'd snag all of my clothing / tights all of the time!), so I'm not a big ring fan. I only wear my wedding / engagement rings (which don't have sticking out jewels; that's the only thing I requested!).

I've FINALLY finished the cross stitch. I know there's two half stitches in it at least, but I can't find them so fuck it! 😂

I need to get my wedding ring resized, fat fingers now.

pussycatinboots · 23/04/2020 05:57

well done fluffy you'll never find a half stitch until it's framed voice of experience
PJ me too, mine won't go over my knuckles any more. It's too chunky really, I should have got a thinner one.

Morning! I'm still motivating myself to get up. It'll be soon, but not quite yet.

Boots, yep, that's when I expect to find it! Never mind; it'll be a quirk of it. 😂

My rings are still relatively loose. They only got too small when I turned into a blimp was pregnant! I have to be careful in winter as they're precariously loose then.

Allotment day today. Woooo (sarcastic)! It's a good job I'm bloody minded else I'd have given up by now!

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 23/04/2020 08:09

My engagement ring isn't my original one which was an eternity ring anyway a stone fell out and then another fell out of the replacement ring, so we gave up and changed to a 3 stone ring. DH wouldn't buy me the tiny solitaire I liked, as he'd bought that style for Wife No1 Hmm
When all this is over and we get to go to shops remember those?, I'm going to treat myself to new rings that I like. Grin
And fluffy the funny thing is, I never catch my fake QVC bling ring that stands high and proud, but I always used to catch my plain low-set real one...it could just be carelessness as I don't really like itBlush but it's a pita to wear.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 23/04/2020 08:15

Morning all :)

How is your uncle doing wreck?

Hi chips it is lovely to hear from you, it's such strange times isn't it?!

I have a tanzanite eternity ring which I love :) I went for moissanite engagement as we were poor and diamonds seemed a rip off. No idea where it is currently as haven't worn it since I started scrubbing my hands all the time Grin

Eagerly awaiting a text from the garden centre saying when they are delivering as spent an obscene amount with then yesterday but it's not as though I have been spending money on anything else this month!

pussycatinboots · 23/04/2020 09:01

most that is how I justified my spending on the birdseed Wink
Is it all compost etc, or have you bought some nice plants? I wanted another Magnolia (stellata) but will have to wait now.
Maybe an eternity ring to replace the other two would be a better idea...back to the original plan really Smile

NerosFiddle · 23/04/2020 09:18

Morning.

I'm not a jewellery person either. I have my engagement ring and wedding ring and that's it. I had my ears pierced twice. When I was teenager and I let them close up because I did judo and didn't want them ripped out and then got them pierced again for my wedding and I hated it.

Most I also spent an obscene amount yesterday but on 2 scooters for the dc. I had a discount code and it was still £££.

Weather looking a bit overcast today. Might not get my washing out.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 23/04/2020 09:29

Morning everyone. Hope you are all OK. I must say I am very impressed with everyone's cleaning, baking and gardening. I can't be bothered to do anything #Lazy

I have a three stone diamond engagement ring but I don't wear it due to being in care work.

CrazyBaubles · 23/04/2020 12:05

Congratulations on finishing the cross stitch Fluffy 🥳

I love jewellery but I tend to keep a lot for 'special occassions' which makes it feel a bit wasted. I would love a real Art Deco ring, ideally an emerald or something. Would never afford it though!
My engagement ring isn't my original either. We got engaged while I was at uni and had no money so he bought me a £50 Stirling silver cubic zirconia ring, then replaced it a few years later. It's not fancy, it has 5 tiny diamonds in it and doesn't look like a traditional engagement ring but I love it.

most your tanzanite ring sounds beautiful, I love its colour.

70 I've never watched QVC. I have visions of the mothers storyline in Bridget Jones Diary 😂 but maybe I should give it a go.

Any news Wreck?

DHs relative appears to have what they're calling 'mild' symptoms - high temp / fever, shivering, cough, chest pains and headaches. Still in the care home but seemingly being well looked after.

Weather is baking here. I'm going on a road trip with DH to do the food shopping. I haven't left the house properly for 2 weeks so I'm being the driver to get me out and give my car a run.
We're dropping some shopping and the daffodils to my parents on the way home too.

CrazyBaubles · 23/04/2020 12:07

I forgot the final pic of the daffodils. I've pinned and starched them as the stems kept curling 🙄

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2020 15:06

Boiling here too. I'm properly baked after the allotment (I had to drag my gloves off quickly when PJ rang me from Asda!).

I go back to WFH from next Thursday, which is good. I could apparently be furloughed again later though!

Crazy, I ❤️❤️❤️ the daffs. Beautiful.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2020 15:07

Filthy me. And that's after wearing gloves! 😂🙈🤦‍♀️

Thanks. He's ok still sedated. They don't think it's covid which is good news (I think!) just double pneumonia plus an underlying condition is possibly making it worse.

I'm so glad it's the weekend. Such a lovely day doesn't look quite so warm after today though which is annoying.

A local distillery near us is doing a cocktail home delivery so I've ordered some for tomorrow Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 23/04/2020 18:08

Will catch up later but look my first early potatoes have appeared!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2020 18:17

Yay! When did you put them in, Most? My main crop aren't through yet.

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 23/04/2020 18:19

About 3.5 weeks ago I think fluffy :) My maincrops only went in this weekend.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2020 18:33

Mine went in on Good Friday, and they've not had much water since given that I don't recall when it last rained!

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/04/2020 20:26

I've bought potato pots for the patio - I'm now trying to convince DH that we can use supermarket spuds rather than wait for special seed potatoes.

Wreck I think that sounds like good news. At least they know what they are dealing with.

Crazy your daffodils are beautiful. My friend lost her mum this week and her funeral is early next week. It must be so hard when only a handful of mourners can attend.

I've got one wash left to do tomorrow. It's been very liberating not ironing. The only thing I'm struggling with is DS's chinos. I really can't put them away creased 🤣

Asda C&C tomorrow and then I've got nothing booked until near the end of the first week in May. I'll be ok for main meals but will need to visit a supermarket for top up stuff. Our local convenience store is doing really well at keeping us stocked with the in between stuff - fruit, wraps, yoghurts and drinks all seem to be available. I can't find any dried yeast and I'm down to my last tin but someone mentioned that the local Polish supermarket had fresh. I've never used it in my bread maker but I'm sure I can adapt.

School is going well for DS and he seems happy. DD2 has had a week off work and poor DD1 has had a very traumatic few days evaluating GCSE grades for her students.

Now watching the last episode of the last series of The Blacklist before the first episode of the next series and working on my crochet VE Day wreath.

Mrsmadevans · 23/04/2020 20:54
