Belated Happy Birthday Firefly, it sounds like a lazy day and takeaway was the perfect way to spend the day in lockdown.

Wreck 💐 I hope your uncle is ok.

Fluffy Are you insured with Admiral? I still have friends who work there who told me they're doing an automatic £25 refund for every car on cover - it's costing the company £110million!

Veg trug sounds like a good investment most, take him up on it ASAP!

Thank you for the lovely comments on the daffodils. I absolutely must do stems for them today because I didn't get around to it yesterday

I've been up since 7:30 so dishwasher is done, as is breakfast and first load of washing (which is now on the line). I think the big job for today may be clearing the cupboard under the stairs...

sideorderofchips · 22/04/2020 10:00

Hi gang. How is everyone?

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2020 10:03

Yes, Crazy, Admiral. We've been with them for 3 years as they've been the cheapest every year (unusual!).

Have you started your Highland coo yet? I might do that next to break up the John Clayton intensity!

I've made a chocolate Victoria sponge at the kids' request and am just waiting for it to finish cooking. Then I'll supervise the kids while DH fixes the boxing in around the bathroom (it had to come off so I could fix the vinyl flooring) following which I'm going to scrub the floor clean. Exciting times!

Chips!!!! How are you doing?

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 22/04/2020 12:14

Hi chips, how are things with you?

Fluffy DH is still with Admiral too - they're the only ones whose price has consistently been the lowest for him for the last 3 or 4 years.

I haven't started the Coo yet. I want to finish the daffodils and I want to make a crochet Christmas tree (that I've been meaning to make for a few years and never get around to) then I think I'll start the Coo alongside making the odd crochet project (I have a list of things to make people as Christmas gifts so want to work my way through them rather doing the usual starting in October and rushing through them).

I've attached a pic of the tree I'd like to make - not my pic, it's been taken from google.

DH has strapped by bad ankle up tight today which is helping so I may be able to go for a short stroll today. I haven't left the house for 3 or 4 days now because of the pain and feeling unsteady so I'm looking forward to it!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2020 12:25

Cute tree! How big is it? 🎄

Other insurers quote silly amounts. We're at the just-over £200 level now as we're getting old! 😂😂

I missed that you'd hurt your ankle. What did you do?

I'm very torn between doing something else or ploughing in with the John Clayton ones. I think I should have a break else I'll get fatigued!

OP posts:
CrazyBaubles · 22/04/2020 12:49

The tree should end up being around 10 inches tall. I don't even know what I want to do with it, it's just been on my 'I'll make these one day' list for so long I just want it done 😂

My insurance was £200 exactly last year which made me feel old but then there was a little bump a year ago so it's gone up a bit again 🙄

I sprained my ankle quite badly a year or so ago and went over on the same one when I was doing couch to 5K last week. I thought if I rested it would heal but it's been getting more painful so it's now strapped up tight which is helping.

I would switch to the Coo cross stitch Fluffy, then when you go back to do a John Clayton one, it will feel like a nice change.

PJMasksGhekko · 22/04/2020 14:43

That tree is very cute Crazy.
Sorry to hear about your uncle Wreck Sad
I have put more washing away today, go me Grin

Mrsmadevans · 22/04/2020 15:02

We had them last year as well , they were the cheapest then too. I remember Wreck said about the referral scheme but we were already with them unbeknowns to this daft sod😂

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2020 16:46

My life is similarly rock'n'roll, PJ.

Today I was a proper 1950's housewife as I scrubbed the bathroom floor with a scrubbing brush which DH bought a little while ago. I'd cleaned it with a cloth and bleach the other week, but decided it was still grubby. It's positively gleaming now (I've taken the bleach residue off by steam mopping just now). What with fixing the flooring (the fitters left a kink in it; 5pm Friday, cash job, they clearly did too quickly) and giving it a good clean, I'm very happy.

I need to touch the paint up (thankfully B&Q is re-opening next Friday) and then I'll be happy. Grin

I've also taken DS (monumental pain in the arse, frankly) to the allotment to water. He looks like he's been up a chimney due to mud as he dug some - unnecessary - digging!

We've not done any washing today; I feel like we've wasted the weather, despite having nothing left to wash! 😂😂

We have some to put away, so feel free to visit, PJ! Grin

Mrs, I don't think no cat food was a success, even if you did! I can't believe there was no sub for it!

We got ours down to £200, Crazy, but the Volvo increased it, even though it was the same engine size. Insurance calculations are bonkers though.

How big is the trug, Most?

Mrs, don't forget to eat the bacon too!

sideorderofchips · 22/04/2020 17:14

Hey guys I'm alright, just plodding on

Off work at the moment as schools are closed so it's all fun. Done a bit of Christmas shopping but not alot. How are you all?

Mrsmadevans · 22/04/2020 17:42

Fluffy l had to clean my bathroom this morning it was stinking,
l listened to Pop Master while l was doing it and l didn't even mind doing it. Ken Bruce is fab ! I even cleaned the chrome towel rail Shock I didn't however us a scrubbing brush Grin well done on that!
No danger of us not eating the bacon Grin
Chips glad you are ok , well done on the Christmas shopping .l feel like l will never see another Christmas it seems so far away .

WreckTangled · 22/04/2020 17:50

Thanks for the well wishes. He was vented within an hour. No results back yet though.

A distillery near us is offering home delivery on cocktails. £10 a bottle with four servings. DH said I should get some and I think I might.

Nice to see you back chips.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 18:32

Wreck Flowers

DH and I had our Silver Wedding, (I'd booked off a couple of days , we were going to go to London then have a day to recover , nothing too outlandish , saving all that for the cruise -which isn't happening)

Just decided to keep my couple of days off , I'll be reversing my leave later .

We have to get a plumber/heating engineer round , I'll be at work, DC can hide away and DH can keep Social Distancing .

Pesky heating/pipes or something Xmas Hmm

I have ordered one of those food vacuum thingies (had one years ago, they are brilliant ) I shall be bagging everything that sits still .
Bags are re-usable too, wash and dry , re-use .
This is DS Anniversary present to me (my choice)

I ordered an eternity ring ( my choice and I told DH he'd bought it) Diamonique (QVC) not diamond , I'm not a jewellery wearer but very pretty so no point at all paying £££
. Might put a photo up once my poor raddled hands have recovered from tomorrow at work .

pussycatinboots · 22/04/2020 19:17

fluffy our B&Q is already open.
Could you put DS in the washer? He's not that big and would probably fold up quite well... then peg him out when it's finished, you wouldn't need to iron him Star Grin
1950s...you'd be wearing a pinny then? (my m&d married in the 50s)
did you do the "curlers in the hair and headscarf" too? Grin
Mrs pets at home will deliver (either to you - which is probably safer for the cats- or bob) we bought a bit too much some for our 2, they may not need to nibble me until Christmas now Blush
Not sure I'd want to share a false teeth pot with DH...actually NO I wouldn't...ever Envy

Mrsmadevans · 22/04/2020 19:59

I want a QVC Diamonique pretend WAG ring too , WAHHHH! Grin
Ahh didn't realise Pets at home delivered thank you Boot Smile
Congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary 70 one day your ship will come in Smile & you can go on a lovely cruise Flowers
I am not a one for jewels either but do like a pretend big rock for show Grin then l wear it for a couple of DAYS hours & then l can't be arsed Hmm Grin

Mrsmadevans · 22/04/2020 20:01

Wreck hope it is good news soon Smile Flowers

pussycatinboots · 22/04/2020 20:20

Mrs something like this? I bought one similar about 15yrs ago and it still looks pristine! www.qvcuk.com/Michelle-Mone-for-Diamonique-7ct-tw-Set-of-2-Rings-Sterling-Silver.product.344074.html?sc=NAVLIST

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 20:38

I was going to say if you want Bling go onto QVC- Diamonique -Michelle Mone . Some utter corkers , you can wear them as WAG as you like Xmas Grin

Mine is a 0.7carat full eternity Platinum plated on silver .

I;ve got a huge Diamonique Tanzanite 3 stone but it's like a knuckle duster Xmas Wink

pussycatinboots · 22/04/2020 20:53

I used to walk past a ver ver expensif jeweller in Chester, in the Rows.
They had a huge tanzanite ring in the window for £6k Shock I would have sold my spleen to get my sticky mits on it back then Grin

Yours sounds v like the one I have, tiny sparkly stones but passable as the "real thing".

Mrs QVC will provide you with a WAGtastic ring!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2020 21:17

There's a jewellry arcade in Glasgow , just off Argylle Street . It is lovely to wander along , I like the really old fashioned , crammed into the window ones , rather than the sterile , lit , white surrounding displays .

pussycatinboots · 22/04/2020 21:31

The ones with a rich burgundy (Kayes) or blue (Lowes) velvet background are always the most cluttered and best and the most expensive I don't like modern bright white light jewellers either.
